So, I kinda know a thing or two about guys (I’ve been in the same situation as you so)
Here are some questions you can answer:
Does that guy tease you ?
Do his friends talk about him when/if they talk to you ?
Has he flirted with you ? (Idk what age you are)
Does he act really nervous when he’s around you ? Or does he act super confident ?
Does he try to make you laugh ?
Does he laugh at your jokes ?
Does he try to spend time with you ?
Do you catch him staring at you a lot?
Did he ask for your number ?
Had he ever given you a compliment ?
If the answer is yes to more than 7/10 questions, he likes you

Looks at you:
Try to look at him periodically and see if you catch him looking at you in return. People look at what interests them.
Behavior:
see if he behaves differently with you (if he's a guy and you're a girl, see if he behaves the same way with you then he does with another girl- DON'T compare with his siblings.)
If he acts differently with you versus other girls than he normally acts then this shows he could feel different about you then other girls (different behavior is varying though! He could act more nervous/ quiet around you, more attentive/ helpful, wants to make you laugh or even the opposite where he might be quiet or tries to ignore you.)
If he treats you differently then he feels different with you then other girls, BUT that does not tell you what exactly he feels towards you!
Laugh:
see if you can make him laugh. People are more prone to laughing at something if they feel comfortable with the people around them.
Talk with him:
See if you too are comfortable just saying hi first, then a little longer talks. It helps to learn if you guys are even compatible for dating.
Ask around:
Does he have a girlfriend/ boyfriend? If he does and flirts with you anyways then you don't want him regardless.
GET YOUR ANSWER:
All the above done and seems good so far? Have a friend ask this guy if he's seeing anyone and if not, then tell him he should totally ask you out (as if this was her idea), then just wait for results.
OR
ask him yourself if he's seeing anyone, if he says no then ask him if he's "interested in going out"? He'll automatically think YOUR asking for yourself. If he says yes then great! If he says no then respond saying something like "pm my friend wanted me to ask you" (THAT WAY it sucks but you can pretend you weren't asking for yourself so you get to save some pride).
