30 Hilarious Pun-Filled Comics By This Artist

Bored Panda reached out to Michael, who told us more about himself and his comics.

“I'm originally from Canada but now live in the USA. I've been making Wheat Comics for about 6 years now. I work in software development, my favorite color is blue, and my pinkies are crooked!” shared the artist.

We asked Michael to share what inspired him to create Wheat Comics and how he came up with the concept for punny, humor-infused cartoons.

“If I'm being honest, it was entirely on a whim. I like drawing, and I liked puns, and making comics seemed like a fun thing to try. I think the only thing I did have in mind at the start was to not have unique characters so that I could draw whatever I wanted!” explained Michael.

Michael also described the essence behind silly cartoons: “If you like puns, dad jokes, and mediocre drawings, then Wheat Comics is for you! These days I'd say my comics are either huge pun fests, or taking an absurd idea or situation and seeing it to its logical conclusion.”

Each artist’s creative process is different; here is what Michael shared about his: “I just write down anything that seems like it could be funny. Any idea, no matter how stupid or boring, I'll write it down. Then, like a stinky cheese the ideas age, and when I sit down to make a comic each week, I'll look through the list and see if any of the ideas jump out at me, or if I can think of them in a new light.”

The artist shared what he hopes for his audience to take away from his comics.

“If just one person rolls their eyes, then I've succeeded. But really, these are silly comics that I have fun making, and if other people get a little laugh out of them, then all the better!” wrote Michael.

And lastly, he added: “If you ever want to start doing something creative, just do it! You don't have to be good at something to enjoy doing it. Just look at my first comics, I was not good at drawing. But look at me now, I'm still not good at drawing! Lol, just have fun with it!”
