if the nation could have been exposed to the things that the new york papers and media exposed about him in his yearly years he wouldn't have half the base that he has now. he was a laughing stock to the elite group that he literally conned his way into, doing everything from planting things in papers about himself, making sure he was present during some charity events - he one time got on stage to claim a large donation as his own when the actual person was making their way to the stage. by the time that person got there the press had taken the pics they wanted and left. he called/calls into places using aliases to promote himself. he only thinks he is a celebrity and those that agree are just used to the smoke and mirrors.

The question in itself makes no sense based on the definition of slipped through the cracks....."To fall through the cracks or to slip through the cracks means to remain unnoticed or unaddressed, to not receive the attention or the help that one needs, to be overlooked or ignored" So, slipping through the cracks does not mean you have shitty talent it means your talent has been overlooked...

The only celebrities I can think of who have genuinely fallen through the cracks are people like Margot Kidder and Shelley Duvall, who suffered from mental illness and ended up in poverty.
