Tin-Tin Chop Suey was on Hotel Street in Honolulu. This is not a good section of town but this is where this little hole in the wall restaurant was. Tourists didn't know about it. Not only was the food great, but the kitchen guys came out to take orders and talk to customers. It was like eating in a friend's kitchen!
We have a glorious local Moroccan restaurant which besides its lovely Kofta, halluomi and hummus is set in a lovely C 15th house on the Cathedral green.
I loved Iki Japanese restaurant in Vancouver when I visited. It was an entirely gluten free menu, the food was great, and not too expensive. I was stoked to have gyoza since not many places have them gluten free.
