Bored Panda's stupid rule about censorship. People's downvotes cause you to be suspended. Three suspensions and you are banned! You can email BP about the suspensions and bans but not ONCE after several emails have I heard a response from BP.

And the people downvoting bc they don't agree. And once you get a downvote others follow like sheep. Instead of downvoting just reply in a polite (nice) way. Downvoting is for misogynist, racist, mean and nasty stuff.

heck yeah! I've been muted twice so far due to people just not agreeing with me on certain issue, and all the while I've remained respectful and haven't insulted anyone. BP's whole censorship thing is a HUGE problem, it basically makes sure that if anyone doesn't agree with what everyone else thinks they get attacked for it and banned.

I've had accounts suspended for getting 10 downvotes on a deleted comment. Like, people didn't even know what it said or why I deleted it. I have one account on a 5 day suspension over a comment I made about a personal experience with no one asking about clarification. Unreal.

Oh. I'm late to the party (just discovered this thread), but I'd like to add, the fact that BP keeps posting controversial topics makes it even worse. I mean, having such a harsh banning system they should stick to cat content! Instead they're like, "there you go - another heated topic without any moderation - now do each other's heads in, get each other banned!"

There are people far younger who behave as if they were “senile” or clueless, and then there are people in their 90s with whom you’d love to spend hours with-you just know they understand things that you don’t and want to learn everything you can. Also, the same people tend to be mischievous and make you laugh…anyone who automatically thinks that about you is ageist and I am very sorry you have been treated that way.

My parents are in their 80's and are far from feeble or senile, maybe a little technologically inept. I, on the other hand, have had a series of bad medical problems leaving me barely able to walk and unable to remember and/or unable to remember or recall a lot. For 6 months I couldn't remember my sons (3) names! I feel now that everyone just takes advantage of me not able to remember or recall things. I thought that they'd be in the wheelchair with Alzheimer's not me!

I'm so fed up with the "stupid boomer" mentality. We are not all stupid, obnoxious, telling younger people, "You have no idea how it was back in my day....you have it easier...blah..blah..blah." Every generation has its challenges and its advantages. I'm thrilled that I grew up the way I did but not having a cell phone or GPS certainly made life very difficult. I could go on. My heart goes out to those who have college debt and can't afford to buy a house.

People, mainly the general public, NEED TO READ SIGNS!!! Especially in businesses! They are there for a reason! It is not only annoying, but you can pretty much answer your own question if you take 2 seconds to read the sign that is practically right in your face. Soooo many times have not only I, but my employees having to point to a sign explaining the very thing a customer is asking. READ. THE. SIGN. Please.

Tbf, people don't read signs because their eyes are not drawn to it and we're so accustomed to billboards and ads we just diverge our eyes or ignore the sign, or we see similar signs that say one common thing and don't think it will be different for the next business. Just recently, me and my daughter sat in the rotunda of a train station to cool off. We hadn't even noticed the big sign that said masks were still mandated in that station. Most places now just strongly recommend them. We're not anti-mask like that. We had just made a bee line towards the benches. The security guard only reminded us, at least, so we left peacefully. Sometimes I don't even notice the push/pull sign on the door.

I have customers screaming about a product not working and my support team spending countless hours trying to troubleshoot something that is literally written on the packaging. My customers are all new parents, I'm constantly catching myself silently going "Should you really be breeding?" until one day I say it out loud. (Hopefully not).

Yeah. As a teen, worked in a burger joint (not fast food; locally owned and actually decent quality). We had a sign in the drive-thru that said "if you don't stop at the menu, we have no idea you're here." Workers had to literally lean out and point to it because people would show up to the delivery window for no conceivable reason. The general public is so g.d. dumb.

Yes, this! Another fun fact is that if there's a weird sign up, that sign is a response to a member of the public's equally weird behavior. If the library suddenly has a sign up saying, "Please do not flick boogers in the elevator," there's a reason.

What we can do about one or two-party dominated countries that manipulate everything on earth. Where it doesn't really make a difference to the foreign policy of those countries if you vote A or B or just A because that's all that there is. Why the countries most responsible for violence against other countries are still on the UN security council and UN human rights council.

I don't know about other countries, but in the U.S., it's illegal. In theory, you can report it to the Federal Trade Commission (https://www.donotcall.gov/report.html) and the company can be fined up to $43,792 per call. In reality, this happens all day every day, and the FTC isn't doing jack.

Canada passed new laws but still get scam calls. Being on the DNC list won't stop illegal scammers, as they already don't care about the law. Some legal, legit call centres are exempt from the national registry but they will have their own DNC list. In fact, you can look up all the research call centre companies online and they should have an option to request to be put on the no call list on their website. Another way to avoid these calls is READ THE FINE PRINT and make sure you understand everything before you sign up for anything. Usually there is a part in terms and agreements when you sign up for a service that says the company may have a statement about contacting you for offers, promotions or even giving 3rd parties your information for research purposes. Maybe not in those words, but in vague legal terms that may not be so obvious. What really drives me nuts is blocked numbers that can still leave messages and leave texts. Like, wtf?

Your 'guy friend' if you will. --- As far as I understand it, the the definition of boyfriend has always been 'The ONLY person you're NOT platonic with.' All the people you are platonic with are friends.

I can name at least 4 other countries that eat a version of French traditional dishes like choucroute garni, cassoulet, and pot-au-feu, and who do it better than the French. I won't argue the cheeses...

Is a hot dog a sandwich? Some people say no because you do not slice through the bread fully, but I contend you could not fully slice through a subway sarnie, does that mean it is no longer a sandwich? Also when eating chips with bread and butter, it is commonplace to put a few chips on a slice and fold it over, this is still a chip sandwich, imho.

When I was younger I believed that dreams were like teleporting through time to the next day. It seems instant, so I thought that if someone had fallen asleep before me they were already in tomorrow, and they had already experienced the things that happened, but I was interacting with the version of them that was currently doing those, almost like every second of the day was recorded and I had to interact with it later then then cause I fell asleep later. And if I fell asleep first, then I was doing stuff that they hadn’t done yet, but j was seeing them do it cause otherwise it would reveal the ‘system’ to everyone. And is could catch up to people by falling asleep faster the next day. I was a messed up kid…😂 I also thought SpongeBob was a piece of cheese. S P O N G E Bob also sponge is a weird word DONT you agree? Say it a few times and spell it. It doesn’t really make sense. Thank you if you read this far!!!

I am not a doctor and I could not imagine even attempting to diagnose or even imply that a person who I had never met in a clinical setting had autism. If nothing else the symptoms/spectrum are so widely varied. That being said, Donald Trump has EVERY SINGLE trait/symptom of people who have Narcissistic Personality Disorder, and since he is a public figure, I have seen him display every single one of these traits a THOUSAND times, so I feel comfortable saying, I am sure he has this disorder. --- Disclaimer: I don't have a blog or post on tiktok.

I broke up with my wife after nearly 22 years a few month ago. Dating as a single 40-something year old guy is actually way better than what I was expecting and have got a cute girlfriend now. Ex-wife asked me recently if I wanted to reconcile with her, I said no. I was the one to end the marriage and I've been so much happier being single, but the whole thing with the reconciliation has totally messed up my head.

I kinda suspect that is the case, she went a bit nuts when I said no. I said that I knew I wouldn't be happy - so she told me that it wasn't all about me, what an awful husband I was and how she was the perfect wife*. *Spoiler alert - she had cheated on me.

Idk if this counts but I want to be vegetarian, even tho I love meat i at least want to try it for a while and I told my mum something like “what if I was vegetarian and you didn’t know” and she said she would want a refund for all the steak I’ve ever eaten. It made me quite sad. Also does anyone know any good brands for meat substitutes (that sell in the uk)

I've been a vegetarian since I was sixteen, and it started with that same feeling of "I want to try it for a while." Meat substitutes in the UK include Beyond Meat, Gardein, and Linda McCartney. There are also plenty of great cultures with vegetarian recipes. I make things like cheese ravioli with tomato sauce, vegetable stir-fry with tofu, Thai yellow curry, and chana masala (spicy Indian chickpeas). A lot of these things are quick and inexpensive to make. I think your mother is reacting from a position of feeling hurt, like you don't appreciate the food you've eaten in the past. I encourage you to let her know that that's not where you're coming from, and that you feel sad about her reaction. In the meantime, good for you for exploring things you want to explore! That's a great quality, and it will serve you well in life.

Honestly, I think your mum's response was ridiculous (what does that even mean?!) and, as long as you're responsible enough to make healthy food choices, it's up to you to decide for yourself whether to become a vegetarian. Please don't listen to people who judge your reasons on here — they are YOUR reasons and you don't have to justify them to strangers. I'm neither pro- or anti-vegetarian and I'd recommend being wary of people who have a very strong opinion (agenda) either way. The best thing for you to do is talk to your doctor or a nutritionist and make sure your research comes from solid, trusted sources.

I've been a vegetarian for about 20 years and I don't really buy meat alternatives. I do consume dairy products (cheese), which is a source of protein, as are legumes. When I started, there weren't many meat alternatives available, so I never got into that, but I also have to admit that I don't crave meat. Btw what your mum said is really silly, I hope it was just her attempt of a joke? No wonder it made you sad, it would be great if she showed more support.

My weird dream. So I was doing classic fundraising stuff going from door to door and I went to this house that was much bigger on the inside than the outside. That house was owned by the mafia and they stole my flute. They put this weird orange stuff that would not be good for me if I played my flute and I was like “Take the orange stuff out.” And so they said they would after some weird introduction. So I was incisive on a stage and someone else stole my flute And I was LIVID. He eventually had to give it back and I managed to escape. My mom got the orange stuff out after three paper towels.

Did you know there is a cheese that is injected with maggots to make a strong flavor? It’s made of sheep milk and the maggots have a tendency to explode, which is why you wear safety goggles. Oh, and you don’t have to eat the maggots; they’ll kill them on request. I don’t remember where it came from, but it’s banned in parts of the U.S.

I'd like to talk about some people you don't know (some of which I don't really know!) because they've been on my mind. I went for a run in the park yesterday and I saw some guy standing there, wearing a baseball cap and a black shirt with the word "tribe" on it. Later that day, I noticed him outside Walmart. I hope he's doing well. There's a girl on my cross country team who is not only very fast but is also a terrific person. She is so sweet and has a great sense of humor, and I love her bubbly personality. She just makes running fun, and she really knows how to bring together people who don't know each other very well. My older cousin is probably the most creative person I know. He writes stories and draws fantastical maps; he's shown some of them to me, but he keeps the rest to himself. He's been painting since he was two years old. I find him extremely inspiring. The only person outside of my family who talks to me every day is my best friend. I've known her since forever, and to this day she is one of the only people I can tell anything to. I'm extremely blessed to have her in my life.

The smart and popular girls have invited me to their table when I sat alone, and they’re kind to me. Idk why they treat me like that, but it works.

Corpses and illness. The early stages of both death and some diseases can have subtle but noticeable effects on the body that serve as a convenient indicator to Ug the caveman that something is Very Bad. Something that's identifiably Wrong doesn't really need the uncanny valley effect, because the conscious mind goes, "Ah. That's not right", or the more basic disgust response takes over. But something that's only just starting to show signs has the potential - but not an absolute certainty - to cause just as many problems as more prominent "issues". Thus a lingering sense of "uhhh" without the urgency of a full-blown "UUUUGGGHH".

It's just that I'm feeling torn between what I'm told I should settle for that is traditional, stable (focusing on a 9-5 full time job at a company), and just going for a more creative but less stable, risky career. I want to be doing something I'm happy with doing, at the same time bring in enough income to be live comfortably. Not necessarily a lavish life, but enough to live in a cozy, clean home with the bills paid, food in the kitchen and some savings, with an opportunity to go on at least 1 trip to see people I know in UK a year. At the same time, I'm getting notions of "What's the point?" and "I don't want to work. Why do I need to choose a job if there are none I want to do?" I absolutely do not want to work in the corporate scheme.

Update: I just got accepted for a better full time job, and the managers have really taken an liking to me. I put in a 2 weeks notice. Since doing so, I'm now locked out of my account for my current job and have to wait 2 hours for the managers to come in and help me. Coincidence? I think not.

Then don't! You have options. You can view the 9-5 grind as a way to make money and pay the bills, while doing your creative stuff on the side which gives you fulfillment. And, let life happen organically. Things always fall into place. Trust me on this. There are tons of hidden jobs say, in charity organizations, that may be a possibility. Keep asking everyone you meet what they do. Something may click. Nothing is forever except your talent. Best to you, dear one.

Not sure how old you are, but give yourself a chance to experience the world. Easier to do when you are younger. Always keep your eyes open for jobs and consider your passions. Most of us HAVE to settle for jobs due obligations….. children, mortgage, etc. Nothing unusual about that. And sometimes, you fall into jobs you love by just pushing forward. Think about what you loved when you were younger and take those online tests to explore options. If you aren’t working, at least volunteer for something. Hope this helps.

There is a UK-based website which might help; versusarthritis.org Theirs is a general approach covering most, if not all, variations of arthritis. I have ankylosing spondylitis which (according to some cursory internet research) affects 0.5% of the population and there are many support websites. For your variation, which appears slightly more common, there is virtually nothing! I think maybe you should set a website up? There is definitely a glaring hole where your support should be. Despite that, we never know whether or not there is a wonder drug just around the corner. In the meantime, I hope you have found some useful methods of managing the pain. Until then, we'll just have to keep our fingers crossed! (My attempt at gallows humour, sorry!)

thanks for the information. i found a doctor after 3 1/2 years, surgery and a lot of pain. the great thing is while it's considered the most painful form of arthritis, it's temporary pain. after a period of time (a few years) the deformation and pain suddenly stop. i have learned ways of dealing with the lack of use of my hands. oddly enough, the doctor said i also have osteoarthritis and carpal tunnel. I'm happy, enjoying life, checking off things from my bucket list before i can't anymore. I'll look into the web site. have a good day.

I have arthritis in the top joints of my middle three fingers, but the pain is typically minor (though more painful when exposed to cold weather!9). Obviously, this is minimal compared to erosive arthritis and I'm so sorry you have to go through that! Hopefully you'll find others who can relate!

my erosive arthritis started with the top joints of my fingers. that's the only joints it effects. if that's the only joints and the pain starts to feel like a blowtorch is aimed at your knuckles is see a doctor. maybe even before it gets that bad.

I recently had to tell her that if she wants to only live life finding negative and never the positive or the solution I will have to stop taking her calls. She has had a hard life. Taking care of six kids on her own, her husband murdered and so many other things. But no one wants to be around a negative Nancy all the time. I dont have the mental strength anymore to get her to find a little light at the end of the tunnel. It makes me to sad to see such a wonderful person waste away in misery. Yes, half sun is also half shade. BUT there are other proportions than 50/50. "Partial shade" could mean sun most of the day but protection from the sun during the hottest part of the day. "Partial sun" can mean mostly shade but a little morning sun is all right, or light shade under a tree canopy that isn't very dense. Unfortunately, there is no hard and fast definition of the terms. Occasionally you can find info for certain plants about their minimum requirements for optimal flowering. Roses, for example, like at least 8 hours of full sun each day.

I didn’t grow up in the U.S., but teens are really high maintenance here, especially in the burbs. . Told my 13-year-old grandson to stay away from high-maintenance girls. You’ll spend all your money on them and have little fun anyway. Look for friendships, especially with girls who are smart, active in sports and have better things to do than gossip. He’s always shy when I talk about girls….. 😆 Not sure if he will heed my advice.

Personally, I don't think any 13 year old wants to hear about much of anything from ANY adult (unless it's the words "dinner time") Unfortunately, you can't make him pay attention to the advice, but I'm sure he's hearing you, but might need to learn on their own, but it will probably be in the back of his head. He's at that age where any adult has no clue about anything.

for every lottery that has over $1,000,000, the amount of possible winners should be that number, so every winner can only win $1,000,000 each. ie: a lottery has $45,000,000, so there should be 45 winners. or, leave it the way it is, with one winner takes all, but require the winner to donate half their winnings to charity.

My state justifies having a lottery by saying that some of the money goes to education. What isn't publicized is that there's no net gain for the schools, because the more cash the lottery rakes in, the more the state cuts the education budget in anticipation of those windfalls. I don't feel like feeding people's addictions is the right way to fund public programs.

It started from his mother (my paternal grandmother) or something I guess. And really, in my 30 years of life, nothing notable has happened to any of my close family members, no serious car accidents, no serious injuries, not even a broken bone. So I guess we have a family guardian angel?

ohhh my BP kindred spirit... yes please let's talk Lego! and thank you for not saying "Legos" lol... my current obsession is hunting down old Lord of the Rings/Hobbit sets but MAN are they expensive..... speaking of expensive... recently happened upon a used ghostbusters HQ set in my fave local Lego store - they were having a 40% off sale for the owner's b-day. i think it seriously pained him to part with it for so little since the set can go as high as 1000 bucks on ebay! hated to break his heart on his b-day but... all's fair in love and Lego! lol and it now proudly sits in my Lego cabinet next to the Ecto 1 :) such a fun build! hq-6303c78e104dd.jpg hq-6303c78e104dd.jpg

i love animals, and have rescued/adopted many cats over the years. but it seems a bit overboard to me when people spend thousands of dollars to build a 'wheelchair' for an animal born paralyzed, or some such thing. i think any animal born with severe, quality of life issues should be put down. that money should be spent on people, especially children, who need it so much more. food for the hungry, wheelchairs for the disabled and poor, etc. i value quality of life for humans over animals.

I personally dont agree . Animals have a place on the earth too. Technically speaking, we (humans) are animals.

You make a valid argument, and I think you may be right.

If you could have any pet (real or fictional) what would it be and WHY? Have a good reason, not just "cuz its cool".

Wolf. Of all the creatures on God's green earth, wolves are my favorite.

If potted plants count, then the tears of the moon. If not, then a dragon to ride.

It turns out, I have a lot on my mind. Here are a few things that are on my mind right now: - Why are women told to sit like a lady, talk like a lady, act like a lady etc. but men aren't told to "act like a man" etc. - The fact that when people who have some sort of 'disability' (I put it in quotes because I don't want to offend anyone) go out in public, they get mean stares at them and rude comments said quietly about them. Like it's not their fault that they are a little bit different to you. - Why do people think it's okay to go number 1 in a bush out in public? Like please, have a little bit of decency, and try to find a public toilet or maybe a small cornered off space to do your business. - Why do parents think it's okay to just randomly bust open your bedroom door, look around, and then leave without closing the door. Like, hello? I could be changing in here!

How my town (and many towns/cities/states) set artists and musicians up for failure. How that culture breeds terrible lifestyle habits that ultimately hinder ones ability to take care of their overall health. The stigma around mental illness in artists and musicians. The lack of affordable assistance for folks who legitimately cannot work a full time job because of said mental illness. Overall, I am tired of watching talented folks get sucked into a a low paying / thankless economy then tossed to the side when they aren't putting out an amazing new record every year. I could go on and on forever about this.

Familial Relationships: Not everyone has a GOOD/GREAT/LOVING relationships with their Mothers/Fathers/Siblings/Nieces/Nephews Grandparents/Aunts/Uncles/Cousin In-Laws as well I wish people would STOP trying to push a tolerable relationship with them. If someone has went LIMITED CONTACT, LOW CONTACT to NO CONTACT with their Family, they have a VALID REASONING behind said limited, low or no contact. STOP trying to make a relationship happen.

Quiet quitting! How many of us are going above and beyond at work and declining to do tasks we are not being paid for? because of the lack of recognition and poor salaries. I have a master's, and working on my PhD, forced to work six days a week crazy hours and just found out the janitor gets one dollar less than me (hourly)

Minesweeper! One of my favourite games, and you can play it for hours and hours without getting bored. And it's free! Severely underrated.

I know the fandom is really toxic- but Undertale. I discovered it in late 2020 and it's kept me going for a while, and I love meeting other fans.

When people make posts or answer in comments, they use a question mark to end their sentences. Sometimes it’s a legit question, fine. Many times, it seems to be a statement/sentence, which is supposed to end with a period. Ex: I hate peas in my rice? Why are they asking? They don’t know if they do or not? Or: I love this (whatever it may be) ? They can’t decide if they love it or are they asking permission to?
