Please, do not say “being emo is so misunderstood” “emo is not a phase” or anything like that. It really gets on my nerves

I had to write an English paper. I decided to make it on lgbtq rights, and everyone asked me why. Some people thought I was being “so mature,” handling such an “adult topic.” This made my blood boil, it’s not an adult topic, it’s normal. The real reason I did it is because I don’t want to die. If you read my current draft, you’ll see that I mention the queer panic law a lot, because it states that any queer person can be killed as an act of self defense if they cause a severe emotional threat, and it’s applicable in 39 US states. Luckily, I live in Connecticut, where you cannot use this as an excuse, but if you live somewhere where this does apply and you are queer, stay safe.
