I made a cake for my depressed friends birthday. She had refused to eat all week, but when I brought the cake to the lunch room at school, her eyes lit up and she had two slices. She was cheerful for the rest of the year.

My dad came to town for work one weekend and wanted to meet us at a local diner for dinner. My sisters and I waited for him to show for about an hour & a half (this was b4 cell phones), until we got fed up and left.
On the way back home I drove by this casino/bar that was close to where dad was staying while in town and I decided to stop in and just check. Found my dad there, sitting and playing cards, completely oblivious of the time. I walked up to him, told him it was nice to see him and dinner was great, then walked right back out and went home. The complete shocked then embarrassed look on his face!!
Years later our dad mostly got better and made efforts to make up for our younger years. When he passed he did have all 3 of us girls at his bedside and none of us were ready for him to go. I miss him every day.
Still proud of myself for finding him that night and confronting him for forgetting about us.
