Hey Pandas, What Invention Makes No Sense? (Closed)
Share those inventions that never made sense to you.
Religion ...definitely an invention.
Gendered rebranding. They sell you literally the exact same product, all they do is change the packaging and the price. And thanks to societal pressures, people keep falling for it...
Yep, they exist.
Privatised healthcare, health should come before profits.
Probably Toeless Socks. Isn’t the point of socks to keep your feet warm?
PLASTIC!!!! It made sense at the time, but now it is literally choking things to death. TOO MUCH!!!!
Pants without pockets! WHY MUST YOU TRICK ME BY PUTTING ON FAKE POCKETS?? If you can put on fake pockets, you can put on actual pockets!!

That machine from the '50s that apparently slapped the weight off of your body. The science makes no sense.

Flushable toilet wipes. They even say in the small print, they are not flushable but people keep doing it and clogging the pipes. Whatever your primary method after doing your business, you shouldn't need second item afterwards.
Fake versions of real things
examples: maple flavoured syrup instead of maple syrup, ‘vegan’ leather, so many others

High heeled crocs.
Amazon Auto. It basically only does what the cell phone app already does.
barefoot shoes. Like what the point of making shoes if your gonna cut a whole at the bottom and of course the remote headband it's litterly a head band full of remotes
Anything new and improved. If it is not smaller and more expensive I would be surprised. Usually the old model works better, does a better job. Example: front load washers as compared to top load. I’m sure you can come up with examples too….
Facebook. Communication peaked with email and listservs.
I'm just going to say it: the Hurdy Gurdy

Cons: too many resources needed to make them all
The roads are constantly full of traffic jams and in some places it's quicker to ride a bike
The amount of pollution they cause
The amount of petrol and oil they need
The expense of keeping them fuelled, taxed and insured
The never ending production of newer, better models to keep people buying
Talk-to-text and sending voice messages....on a phone...capable of calling people. I know it has some specific usages but the irony is never lost on me, and I most often see it being used as basically a phone call with very long pauses between responses.
