A tip for IPhone users to get good eye pics: Use your back camera, flash on, 3 second countdown if you need time to get in the right spot, then edit the imagine and crop your eye.
That results in really good pictures!

That is my bad eye, I have an astigmatism. You can actually see how my iris is misshapen! (Lower left of iris bends weird)
