Parents pretty much raise their kids according to how they were raised, or a bit differently. Usually parents try to mold their kids to be able to function in society and be a contributing, productive person, who is likeable and can deal with other people.

However, those same parents can also have a moment when they get a lapse in best judgement, and sometimes it's within public earshot.

I was standing in line at the mall in front of Booster Juice. Plenty of room to go around, as the line wasn't that long. There were people passing through. Some saying "excuse me" to go past those in line. Others just went around. A little girl, about 10, says "excuse me" to me and I let her through. Her mom? "Why do you care so much about other people? Just push them." ... Oo Huh. Yeah, lady, try it and you'll be kissing the floor tiles.

I also carry this as an example that kids have a conscience of their own, regardless of what their parents try to instill in them.
