Contrary to what pop culture says most people during the middle ages in europe married quite late. The average age of marriage in peasants was arround 23-27y. This was because both sexes needed to save a lot of money to afford a home. Men were offen apprentices and could not marry until they finished and women often worked as maids or with their families. Many were engaged for long periods of time and in some areas it was quite normal to even cohabit without being married, usually marrying when they had the means or when they got pregnant. Nobility engaged and married younger but often did not share bedrooms or even lived in different houses.
