My grandmother with my dad, early 1954. My grandfather was in Korea at the time and didn’t get to meet my dad until he was 18 months old. She wanted to be a nurse but my grandfather wanted her to have a more traditional role at home, so she was kind of the midwife of the small town they lived in and helped deliver several babies. She also painted, sewed amazing clothes, and pretty much had a small working farm that she did all the work in while my grandfather was at work. I miss her stories. And her dumplings.
