This lighthouse is very beautiful, and so are the words describing its location/position. «Great Ocean Road» should be a song title, and Cape Otway should be in the song’s lyrics. But I guess I got carried away a little …

Ah, the very rare cliff side horizontally mounted Lighthouse. So few of these left outside of captivity.

When we were leaving after visiting, I noticed an interesting dead tree and took a couple of pictures of it. I didn’t even notice that the lighthouse was in the background until I looked at them when we got home. (I took lots of pics of the lighthouse. They’re boring. This is the only one I like.)

my preferred lighthouse of all ( Lieblingsleuchtturm}. I have taken numerous photos over the last years and even painted it myself. It is a simple classic - love it!

You can see the entirety of the island of Ameland in this pic. Left on the horizon is a small white blob. That's the ferry. The mainland you can just about make out on the horizon to the right.

Cape disappointment - who named it and why?

It was a five mile walk on a rocky beach to get to this lighthouse x_x can't say I'd do it again. Fun fact: the Dungeness Spit (sticking off the top of Washington State) is the longest natural sand bar in North America! And somehow I let the boyfriend convince me to walk it with him... I almost stepped in a dead seal....
