Whether it be a crime (like theft) or petty revenge, have you ever gotten away with something at a current or past job?

Giving people raises. I worked as a restaurant manager for a very popular bakery-cafe in the U.S. for 11+ years. It was full of the most hard-working, intelligent, underpaid people.

I worked with a young woman who had been a supervisor for 8ish years and had stepped down under the previous (less than great) GM. When I took over, she wanted to step back up. Her pay had been $13/hr. I asked my boss if I could bump it. Nope. When I submitted her pay, I entered the raise anyway. Approved. He didn't even check. He just assumed I would comply.

College kids always got passed over for raises when on leave. I started terminating them instead of placing them on LOA so I could hire them back with better wages.

If you are a restaurant manager, DO THIS SH*T FOR YOUR PEOPLE. They work hard. You cannot do your job without them.

Thank you for sharing! But, why would they get a better wage as a rehire from termination instead of coming back from leave?

I worked for a very manipulative corporate chain that advertised the exact opposite of what they actually did. (Be kind to their employees, treat them, have a safe and healthy working environment, and uphold the mask mandates during 2020 and 2021.) What was worse is that the management for my particular store (and I worked at three different stores as I moved around, so I had something to compare it to) were worse then Regina George. They were devilish, immature, and downright bullies.

Supposedly the main store manager (we'll call her R) would take any cans & bottles from employees to the depot and use the money for some fun games and things for the employees (which never happened). R's ASM, we'll call her P, the worst person in the whole store (very dramatic, irresponsible, and always going behind people's backs and just overall a horrific person who should never have been in a leadership position); everyone knew she had a drinking problem. So on a day that R was going to empty the cans & bottles, I brought a hard cider can from my roommate for R to find... P's favorite brand. I don't drink at all so there's no way it could have been mine. P did not lose her job but she certainly lost trust with R and R had to do an investigation into P's work habits, which helped halt her intentionally causing issues and harassing everyone.

I discounted deli items to make sure those struggling from the covid epidemic could survive. Lost my job over it.

It makes sense why you lost your job over it, but I still commend the action and intent.

Since I work from home I'm glad I'm not watched like I was at the office. I work in market research. We're not allowed to have our phones out but they can be on us, but they have to be on silent. Not allowed to browse the internet without permission on our phones nor on the work computers. It's monotonous, repetitive job in a very large, open office of partitioned desks and ... well, it's call centre and it gets boring very, very quickly. I have long hair, and we have a very casual dress code. So, I like to wear hoodies. More than one occasion I have slipped in an earbud inside my sweater and covered the wiring coming up with my hair and listened to some music while still able to do my job. I never got caught doing that.
Now that I'm working from home I've found a lot more liberties I can get away with. Mwahahaha

I was responding to a fully involved house fire and another structure was about to ignite due to the radiant heat. It was also occupied. There was a police car in my way and I couldn't get around. Well I pushed the police car out of my way.

No write up or disciplinary action. Just the usual drug test.

My chief looked at me in a different light after that. And the police are more aware of where they will park their unit. And when they know I'm working that day, they park well away or they are running to move their unit.
