Russia Just Invaded Ukraine And People Are Going Online To Let Others Know How Scary It Is (30 Posts)
Everyone was hoping that this day wouldn’t come, everyone was scared that it probably would. This morning, on February 24, 2022 at 6 AM (Moscow time), Putin announced that Russia invaded Ukraine. World countries one after another are condemning this attack and High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of EU Commission, Josep Borrell Fontelles, considers these events “among the darkest hours of Europe since the Second World War.”
As the world is watching all of this unfold, Ukrainians and other people in the country are experiencing it. The internet is now full of reports of what is happening and some people have shared their own thoughts and feelings of being woken up by explosions. Bored Panda collected some of the personal messages that were shared to represent what people in Ukraine didn't sign up for but have to endure.

Too many disassociated cold hearts in this world. My heart feels you pain to be diminished into a meme, human lives reduced to media sound bites while their reality is so horrific. I'm so sorry, I wish I had more than an apology to offer. You deserve so much more than the world is capable of giving and that is absurd and reality all at once.

It's all over the news, all the bombings, the national emergency sirens, the explosions, people waiting in subways, a person on a bicycle coming under a missile blast; it's honestly so frightening and scary just watching all these destructions. I can't even begin to imagine what the civilians must be going through right now.

The people that make jokes are idiots, and many follow Donald Trump. There are so many others whose hearts break for you and your country. My family and friends, and many people here are thinking of you. We just want you to be safe.

This is absolutely devastating to read. Especially knowing they don’t get to wake up and laugh their unnecessary anxieties away. I can’t imagine what it feels like to be the author of this post. I’m so sorry for you right now, so extremely, inexplicably sorry.

He can't live forever, none of these ugly minded dictators and huge egos live any longer than the average peace loving human. Most people don't have millions wishing them a horrible pain filled death though. And really, that's all these assholes like Putin have to look forward to.

Hello all, am Ukrainian Soldier stationed and about to beginning fighting in Donetsk, me and my brothers are wanting everyone to know Ukraine will not fall, we are all fight till are dying breathes to defend our homeland we not allow them to get near Kyiv we are men and they are boys. They are not taking us without a fight. Edit 1; We have repelled the attack on Kharkiv, they have taken Chernobyl, are pushing them back in Donbas and Luhansk, shelling from Belarus border and missile strike are hitting Kyiv and evac busses and bus stations are hit with strike from Russia. Edit 2; Zemeiniy Island has fallen, all of guardsmen stationed there are killed, but never surrendered, DDOS attacks are hit us on frontline and in Kyiv, Pervomaisk has fallen.

As a Russian, I haven't felt this level of shame and hopelessness for the actions of our government as I feel now. Words cannot describe the level of tragedy and heartache Putin's senile actions bring. I am heartbroken for Ukraine, but also regular Russian people who are unwillingly dragged into this horrible mess. Today I take to streets in protest of this insanity, along with my brothers and sisters from all over the world.

We all realize this isn't the Russian people, this is one man's narcissism. No one is blaming you guys at all. We know what going on. I feel terrible for Putin dragging soldiers into HIS war (just like what happened here in the US with Vietnam)

We in Poland are also scared. We don't believe that Putin will stop at Ukraine. Our goverment, while evil, hateful and incompetent, are setting refugee centers near the border. We are preparing to take as many Ukrainian brothers and sisters as we can

I also don't believe he will stop there. I think he wants to build back the USSR bigger than ever. Crimea was a test and the West failed it - the West stood by 'in protest' as Russia invaded. They next moved onto other parts of Ukraine, stoked fires, and now insist upon all of Ukraine. This is a repeat of Czechoslovakia in 1938; Germany sought to recover 'ethnic Germans' and 'historical German land' there, so he invaded while justifying it to the Western powers. Even though this was a direct violation of the Treaty of Versailles, the west (led by British PM Chamberlain) bought his 'justification' and decided to allow it just to avoid war. As we know now...tolerating an invasion doesn't prevent a war, it allows it. Sanctions will not be enough.
