Load More Replies...I saw another article about this man some time ago and thought here;s a man that should get a Nobel prize for environmental awareness and activeness. Never hear of anyone else planting a forest lately!
If every person planted one tree...I think the world would be just a bit better.
The world would be just a little bit better if there weren't so many @ssholes...
Load More Replies...I would happily pay for this to be put in every country with high amounts of stays x
or educate people in to not abandon pets in the streets or being responsible and spay/neuter they pets
Load More Replies...Would be helpful in other countries too - many homeless people have dogs and it could help keeping them fed and healthy while living on the street.
They should have put the deposit hole lower so smart dogs could put bottles in too
If people were responsible pet owners there would be few strays. I don't think many people these days should have pets. Pet owners should not burden those that don't want pet either. Pets belong to you. Fines should be very high for animal abuse and lack of care or control.
I would only agree with this if the food was laced with the rabies vax and a tranq so you can gather them all up and neuter them to reduce the stray population. this machine only increases the problem
I have to kind of agree with you. Spaying and neutering are a good investment for the future, for both animals and community members.
Load More Replies...It's because animal abuse is a precursor to psychopathy. The FBI don't actually care about animals
Load More Replies...This is true and it's pretty logical. They made studies, which prove that people who have the tendency to harm/abuse/kill an animal, especially in their youth, have the tendency to escalate with violence/assault/homicide towards humans as well, later in life.
The reason they do this is that people who abuse animals are far more likely to commit violent crimes, so this is a good way to keep track of them and keep them on file.
Yes, Animal abuse is the tip of the iceberg, a good indicator of anti social , violent behaviour
Load More Replies...I'm so glad! It should be! Just because animals aren't humans doesn't mean that we should abuse them or ignore animal abuse, because animals are special and we need to be kind to them <3
That is because Animal abuse is a precursor of behavior for serial killers, as is arson. If you have a neighbor or family member abusing anmimalsl know that they may graduate to children or adults to murder. You must act to protect us all.
I agree with the FBI but what about factory farming? That's next level abuse that they do nothing about.
Animal abuse is a marker for psychopathic behaviour. Treat it seriously when it first happens and hopefully people won't go further into their lives doing such things.
See: http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/other-states/a-village-that-plants-111-trees-for-every-girl-born-in-rajasthan/article4606735.ece
Load More Replies...Also it would be neat to have a tree planted in your honor, bc it's someplace you could take your kids to play and have a picnic under later
Then they cut down 111 trees, to balance things out ;-)
Load More Replies...true that, my piggie got depression when his friend died, so now wants to be hed and petted more often
Nope! Not all guinea pigs are depressed and lonely by themselves. I had two guinea pigs, sisters. One (Greta), was almost abusive to her sister (Linny). Linny had a torn ear from when she was younger. After Greta died at four, Linny was fine, and healthy for the next four years, until she passed a week before her ninth birthday.
Load More Replies...Who would want just one anyways? I'd probably take the whole supply of guinea pigs :)
Same in Denmark... It says something along the lines of "animals should be housed under consideration to their social behaviour and common practis" so basically it covers every social animal, with out mentioning them by species. And at the same time it covers none social animals...
i have 2 rats and they NEED each other. i love them. They're so cute!
I live near this island and have seen the dogs, there was a movie made about one of the dogs: https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/oddball_and_the_penguins/
Here's the real life story: http://www.warrnamboolpenguins.com.au/maremma-dogs

Load More Replies...Robin Williams was a wonderful man and I wish someone could have helped him the way he helped so many others.
What a beautiful thing to say. It's what I thought too, but you put it in words
Load More Replies...Robin Williams was a great person, so sad he battled depression & lost. Sad too about Christopher Reeve's accident. God Bless them both. RIP .
My heart still skips a beat when I think of this wonderful man, his life cut short because he to struggled with that silent, stigmatized condition, called depression! May you R.I.P, both Christopher and Robin!!
We will all pass away. At least they really lived!

I want to be a panda nanny since ages please let me know if you have any contact for the same
Sometimes a panda mother won't have the skills the take care of her young, so people have to step in, another reason pandas are dying out... I mean the panda mothers, not the people
Load More Replies...My cats bring me dead mice and pigeons. Sometimes they bring fishbones they gather from neighbours :)
My cat used to bring home sausages, bits of left over lamb on the bone and broccoli from somewhere.
Load More Replies...lol in all fairness, I am a crappy cat that can't survive on its own.
Innacurate. Those are gifts. You feed them, so they know you're not a crappy cat.
Exactly. They depend on us for food, they know we are the masters of food. This is just faulty logic. My cat brings me live mice, so I can have fun too. It's just a gesture of friendship.
Load More Replies...My cat brought me a LIVE snake once. She put it in my bed, what am I supposed to think?
She's pissed at you for something... ;b
Load More Replies...Another way to look at it is that cats are colony animals, and they share food within the colony. If they have food, and they're not starving so much that they need it all themselves, they'll share it with their colony mates, which you are. So it's not that you're a crappy cat so much as a cat that is off doing their own thing. And if you feed them, you're clearly doing your part, too, so it's just fair.
not entirely true but whatever. mine brought me a not quite dead bird one day. he dropped it at my usual seat but a visiting friend was sitting there. he freaked! it was hilarious.
Is that why they shed everywhere too? They're just worried I don't have enough fur???? :-)

I`m lost of words! I knew bloodhounds are owners of the best dog noses, but I didn`t know they are good at marathons!
Her name is Luda something. The half marathon changed its name to the hound dog half after this. Its in Elkmont. My mom runs it every year
Load More Replies...she was probably chasing the scent of one of the runners ahead of her!
Yeah but he didnt start from the start so should be disqualified. Cheating doggo
The little happy squeaks are really as adorable as you think it would be :)
Also, over 270 retirees volunteered to go into more dangerous areas of the damaged nuclear power plant. Their reasoning was that they would probably pass from old age before getting cancer, and would rather do the work than have younger guys lives shortened by it.
Oh, yeah, I remember these news articles. So nobile of them.
Load More Replies...Gabriella Gossi basically making a remark that she thought the Fukushima disaster was caused only by the nuclear reactor. She said "thanks for the info" and she got 12 down votes and her comment was hidden. Why? I don't think she was being sarcastic, and i guess we will never know because you can't reply to hidden comments. I fear that someone just got "internet abused" because she was genuinely grateful for being enlightened.
I think he means most/all of them got radiation damage and likely to suffer. If you look at it that way....

...and the female tortoises only made the eggs, cared and played them.
"Single-handedly"? So, the females had nothing to do with this process, eh? Huh... that IS amazing.
what do ya mean single handed? he must have needed a pair to do it, isn't it?
I was dubious of this one, but it turns out there is evidence of corgis existing as far back as 1107 AD
One theory is they are descended from valhund that came with vikings
Load More Replies...They have little white saddles on their backs and they galloped in the fairies` fights, carrying little wariors on their backs :)Awesome breed, I`ll be having a corgi in less than a few weeks!
There's even a fictional book called 'The Corgi Chronicles' by Laura Madsen that follows a corgi and his fairy
Also -- corgis are working dogs. The first time I saw that corgis were listed as working breed rather than toy breed, I thought it was a typo. Then I saw Youtube video of them herding cattle. Which is what they were bred to do. Go search for it. It is every bit as impressive and adorable as you think it is, and you'll thank me.
Well even Vikings could appreciate nice warm laps , and feet, and hands. Small dogs can help with all of those. .... slightly off topic, many small dogs were breed to be small enough to be carried inside the sleeves of Oriental nobles ' clothes. For during the bitter snowy winters. I don't know the dates tho. sorry.
Scientific tests also showed that they stress out when separated. They believe that by reducing the stress they will raise their milk yield. But considering cows are herd animals, this isn't really surprising.
So do sheep! I watch it all the time on our farm... and you can see them stress when separated. We arrange our mobs so that they stay together. Also, if one gets ill, their friends will come visit; so we make holding pens in the paddocks where we can care for the sick guy, but their friends can visit. Sheep who get visits have a higher recovery rate... and the bond just makes all of us happy.
And why not? Homo sapiens, you are not the only species who needs a pal on it`s side!
Horses too!! Ethology is revealing that we have grossly misunderstood and underrated animals, they are quite complex psychologically
Also interesting... a study was done showing that by naming cows, and calling them by names they produce more milk.
Your comment is actually cooler than the picture :D

Sir Nils Olav, Colonel in Chief of the King's Guard. Weirdly, he lives in Scotland. But he's a Norwegian, um... citizen? who just happens to live in the Edinburgh Zoo.
Load More Replies...And you thought the neighborhood crack dealer's pit bull was scary.
"rescued from a basement during a drug raid" wtf. Why do drug dealers try to emulate what they see on the telly? "Y'know what would make me seem really badass, having a collection of wild animals in my basement" bloody tossers
Poor thing, it looks cute but in the end they are just held just to amuse humans...
I actual worked at a zoo for two years, and the otters we had were extremely happy and playful. They are very friendly animals.
Load More Replies...Done this at Scarborough Sea Life Centre. There was a tiny gap in the boards, and the otter was shaking everyone's hands. Really soft!
We have two bunnies that binkie everywhere, funny to watch lol. The youngest one also runs around the garden at full speed, we call it the bunny 500 😊
Do you know when a guinea pig is excited, it hops up and down. This move is called POPCORNING!
It's awesome. They are just sitting there, minding their own business and all of a sudden...BINKY! Happy bunny!
Killer whales probably target the baby humpback whales, so it's not weird if humpback doesn't like them. It's just my thought though
That's pretty true tho. They even play with their prey before they kill it.
Load More Replies...I showed a picture of a gray squirrel to someone and they are like “Oh cool a chipmunk,” I didn’t tell them they were wrong... I just awkwardly walked away after saying “yaaaa...”
Load More Replies...Thank goodness lost keys don't grow into anything, or I'd be lost in a forest.
That's a chipmunk not a squire El. They prob hide acorns too though
I should have been a squirrel then there would be coffee trees everywhere.
Thats amazing. Nowadays people get pissed off if you say "Merry Christmas" instead of "Happy Holidays" smh
or "happy holidays" instead of "merry christmas." there are a-holes on both ends of the spectrum. i say aim for the middle. you'll never get there but you can get close.
Load More Replies...That's truly amazing that they can have peace for 2 days but then resume to killing each other after that? Humans are interesting.
soldiers just want to live like normal people.you can't blame them, their just puppets on string.Follow the order without knowing why?
i'm wondering if someone "gifted" an armed grenade or something like that 🤔
This is the subject of a song titled, "Christmas in the Trenches" by John McCutcheon. It's probably my favorite Christmas song and it's heartbreaking.
Before resuming killing each other the next day. Stop romanticizing war.
Eastern screech owls keep texas blimd snakes around their nests to get rid of pests, so yes this one is indeee very true!
*blind and *indeed - apologies for the spellings, ive had a long day! :)

I wish I was an owl now. My mom doesn't want a snake pet. 🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍
Is this true? I remember reading a series of books with my children when they were younger about this. I thought it was pure fiction.
Yes, I looked this up some weeks ago after someone posted about it on Facebook.

And I would say she has some physical beauty too, ngl her teeth are a thousand times better than mine
Load More Replies...Very true. I've met some "beautiful" women out there who I thought were ugly cause of their personalities.
Load More Replies...We love Lizzie for being such a awesome person and she is beautiful in her own special look and mind <3 <3 im a BIG fan <3
how the f**k do people think it's right to classify people as the ugliest or most beautiful it's just messed up
yep, unfortunately we live in a world that is controlled by social media and people telling us that you are only accepted if you are thin and beautiful.
Load More Replies...I think many people don't really know the meaning of words like "ugly" or "hate", they just use it anyways.
I read somewhere that she was the skinniest woman in the world bc of a disease that I can't remember
Bottlenose dolphins are the only other animals on Earth with a brain size to body mass ratio greater than humans...this is the number one way scientists gauge intelligence. Surmise what you will, from that fact. Also, on a sadder note, they are they only other animals that have been documented committing suicide...they get lonely, or depressed, in their horrible concrete prisons, sink to the bottom of the tank, and never resurface. 😭
I do something similar every morning when my alarm goes off, and I make my way to the shower
I wonder how they would know that? So in their world, while swimming past one another, one could be a Phil and another a Jack? It would be like "Hey Phil, I found a warm spot over here, check it out.
I guess scientists recorded their communication and found recognizable pattern with pairs. For example when they've matched 9 dolphins with the tenth one every one of them used signals which they weren't when they've coupled differently.
Load More Replies...These names are referred to as "signature whistles". Each is unique, & they are particularly useful for mother and calf.
I saw a doco on this, they each have a name, and they also bring gifts of seaweed etc to each other.
Its because in folklore unicorns are the slayers of lions. lions are the national animal of England
🦄 Unicorn is in emojis too!🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🦄🦄🦄😂
Lisa-Marie Saunders: that's a wyvrn, not a dragon. According to lore, St. George killed all the dragons.
That's why we have the lion and the unicorn on the British Coat of Arms.
In a bookstore in Scotland I found a book entitled, "How to make a Unicorn Farm" or something close, I bought it for my daughter. One day we shall farm Unicorns!
Aw. Because of where they put the caption, you can't see the horse's tiny sneakers/trainers/tennis shoes/whatever you call them. Yeah. They have rubber-soled shoes so they can not mess up floors inside.
I think that's how JonTron got a horse for his Food Games episode. ( Link here: https://youtu.be/_qpd8YvUGhs )
Many prisons in the US have a program that has select inmates train shelter dogs, some for specific tasks such as disability service dogs. Marked improvement in inmate behavior and outlook have been noted in these programs and, of course, it improves the lives of the dogs involved.
It acts as a very strong motivator for good behavior. Being allowed to participate in the program is a fantastic reward for prisoners. And since the dogs need 24/7 company to bond with someone, it's incredibly useful to have a person who is 100% guaranteed to be around 24/7...
Load More Replies...This is why I think it's good for kids to have some kind of pet growing up. It teaches them responsibility and compassion. Sadly, children learn from parents, and there are more than enough irresponsible pet-owning parents.
I think that taking care of an animal is a big part of being human!
The care of anything really is enough for you to not be a sociopath
Load More Replies...There are other prisons that do this, both with dogs, and cats. Meanwhile, in Texas, and a few other states, they won't install air conditioning, and are cooking their prisoners to death...which the United Nations has condemned as torture. This country is a circus...
Wasn’t there just a dog found beaten to death in one of these prison programs? I was all for the program until I read about that.
i think it's the dogs/cats on death row, not the inmates
Load More Replies...Wait what???? I had no idea!!! TAKE ME THERE!!!!
Load More Replies...I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade but it's actually very bad for bunnies to live there. Because they're supposed to be domestic bunnies not wild bunnies and many of them have injuries from fights or they have some sort of disease. The bunnies rely entirely on the tourists food and alittle grass here and there. So.... dark side.
Got bit by a damn possum this past summer.... 12 painful shots later..... (for rabies)
Really! It is extraordinary for a possum to have rabies. Their body temp is not conducive to the rabies virus.
Load More Replies...I went to agriculture school my practice among other things was milking cows, and I swear when my turn comes i pet the cows and talk to them, those cows gave me more milk by the end of the week when they get used to me,so yes that is true!!! ^_^
I used to have a calf that would meet me at the end of the driveway and walk me back home after school (along her fence) cows are incredibly playful sweet animals and very intelligent. Mine learned to grab her bowl and carry it to me (fetch)
Happy cows don't have their calves stolen from them. Happy cows are not artificially inseminated. Happy cows are not treated as products. Happy cows are not sent to slaughter when they cannot produce milk. Happy cows live on vegan sanctuaries. CX
the second song on the album puts me on edge tho. So...it gives and it takes away.

Load More Replies...Nope.. it doesn't help to reduce my anxiety, it increases my heart rate and making me nervous listening to it..
What absolute b******t. How does one have 35% anxiety? Who measures this? "Oh, today i have only 10% anxiety, according to the r****d measure scale, souch better thank.you". People will believe any s**t.
Scientists use proxies such as the blood levels of hormones that are known to be associated with stress, such as glucocorticoids. But it's true that it is just proxies - you could never put a number on things such as anxiety or happiness.
Load More Replies...Not working for me, I just find it annoying. I think I'd even prefer whalesongs
This exactly why I want some sort of eco burial, I'd rather contribute to the eco system than pollute it.
Not if you get one of those completely sealed coffins. Then you just explode putrescence all over yourself, and you build up pressure in your coffin until you burst it. Preeettty gross. Make sure you don't get airtight coffins for your loved ones, people!
Dude. Gnarly. I've thought about getting a Green Burial for myself.
Load More Replies...Only if your body isn't embalmed by a funeral home or cremated. Cremation does not allow even insects to benefit from our remains.
Greyhounds As Pets NSW have a similar program at a women's correctional facility here in Sydney. The inmates help prepare ex-racing greys for life as a pet, teaching them things like how to go up & down stairs, basic obedience, etc. It's great for the dogs, as well as the inmates who can even earn a government-recognised certificate. (Our foster grey participated in this!) :)

it's one positive thing that we can be proud of in the face of all the c**p we've done to mess up our planet. Because of one of our past mistakes, at least we're fixing it. There's so much we should be ashamed of looking toward the future, that this is something we should at least try to be proud of.
Yeah not so much down here in NZ. Can still crispy fry you in 5 mins on a mild day. The hole above us IS slowly closing, thanks rest of world for finally dumping chlorofluorocarbons.

I found it odd too at first, but I assume this offers them an alternative way to make a living, thus reducing poaching in the long run.

Lol The Cambodian government doesn't give a quarter of a f**k about the environment, if they want it they will take it.
She certainly was not the first to do this, so she was copying someone who had a great deal less money but still managed for very little exposure
I wouldn't like my initials be written down forever! What if because of that I become a ghost or something? Hahaha, I find it eery somehow.
I saw a man with tendril looking things doing a weird walk really far off. What is my brain
I did had no idea about keeping pairs of guinea pigs. I was going on the hamster rule that they fight if they are together. Rest In Peace sweet Coco, I am sorry I did not know. You were so smart. You learned to sqeak when I opened the fridge door so you got a healthy treat.
