Desperate Man Without Address Draws Map On Envelope Instead, And It Gets Delivered
174Kviews
An Iceland tourist didn’t have the address of the person he was sending a letter to, but luckily, he had a good memory.
So, instead of putting an address on the envelope, he drew a map which leads to a farm in Hvammsveit, West Iceland, with a red dot marked on the destination. The envelope reads: ‘Country: Iceland. City: Búðardalur. Name: A horse farm with an Icelandic/Danish couple and three kids and a lot of sheep!’. It also has a little clue in the corner saying that ‘the Danish woman works in a supermarket in Búðardalur.’ How cute!

And, according to a local newspaper, Skessuhornið, it still reached the intended destination!

had it been the United States the post office would not have even tried
Sooooo true! Because no one gives a shit:(
Not so. Back in the 70's or 80's, when I was traveling overseas every year, I sent my sis a postcard from India or Africa to her in her college town with a detailed description of where she lived, including the color of her apartment building and the fact it had a woman's name. With a plea "Please try to deliver this". No map, though. When it was delivered to sis, a postal worker had written on the bottom "Try such and such Ave,"
How wrong you are! As a U.S. Postal Service letter carrier I have seen, and gone to great lengths myself, to get the mail to it's intended destination! Your post is either very misinformed or malicious, or just plain ignorant.
How long have you lived in the U.S.?
I think if you were sending something to an American town that had a population of *three hundred* like this Icelandic town does, you'd have about the same odds of success.
This postal carrier in the us would have tried to deliver it had it even get to me from the plant. Just bc some dont care doesnt mean the whole doesnt care. Fyi

I once sent a letter to someone in a small town in NM with only her name and the town. She got it.
You are right !
Given the perfectly memorized location, would a reverse search on a map tool ("What address is here?") have worked? Nice story nonetheless.
Maybe person has different life approaches... Considering he was sending A LETTER. :)
that is Iceland. A place where a "town" can consist of a single building. literally. XD
well you know, this is iceland. you can't miss it.
