Man Accidentally Kidnaps Neighbour’s Cat Thinking It Was His, And It Escalates Hilariously

Cats can be pretty quiet creatures, minding their own business and generally just doing their cat thing. For this reason, I guess that mixing your own cat with another identical-looking kitty can almost be understandable, although you really should know better.

Check out this New Zealand man’s Twitter story about his friend, who did just that and thought that his neighbour’s cat was his own, and was just acting a bit weird lately. It’s a bizarre series of events involving a vet, drugs and a pretty freaked out neighbour, but all’s well that ends well. Scroll down below to follow the story and tell us what you think in the comments!

Our cat has an open window policy - she's indoor but can go out on the one roof so she's not ground level. However, clever cat found out a way to get down, and also back up again, with friends. Every once in awhile we come home to multiple cats hanging out in the house and the poor dog going berserk. She brings home friends. She's fixed, so it's just a catnip party at this point, lol No mistaken identity other than I have no idea where these extra cats belong.

We had a black lab that was an escape artist. A neighbor walked him back to our house one morning and was joined by an identical black lab also wearing a red collar. He had no idea which dog was ours. All ended well, fortunately. The new neighbors came to claim their twin dog from our yard.

I once had a cat that took off (he was a real jerk, a total laundry pee-er and yes I took him to the vet, tried to re-train him, etc) for about 18 MONTHS! I thought he was surely dead. In the mean time we got another cat who was an orange tiger just like he was. SO....one day I heard scratching at the cellar door, I opened it up and saw an orange tiger and let him in, thinking it was our new, non laundry peeing cat.......then a few hours later our new cat came in and I realized that had happened! It was the cat from over a year before! (Oh, and this was confirmed the first time he peed in the (**&^&%$) laundry basket!

Mom grew up with German shepherds. One day in her early teens she saw the female wandering the street (residential area) and followed her to a neighbor's house. Luckily she told the owners she was entering to fetch Ramona, as in reality it was theirs feral male. The owner told my mom to be still, got to her side and led her outside, both trembling, as the dog only respected her husband...

Years ago, I had several pet cats. Had a black female named Spooky. Was putting food out, all cats there to eat. Another black cat wants in to eat, so let it in. The one that came in was Spooks. One already eating was the stranger. Realized the stranger had been there for a few days. She stayed and was aptly named Phantom, Phannie for short. She was with us 3 weeks when she had kittens. Spooks had a name change to Grannycat. Granny was truly MY first cat, all mine. I had her for 18 years.

We have a pair of rescue cats that we fostered from newborns, then adopted. One is black/rust, and his brother is pure white with just a touch of dirty grey on his face. Our neighbors across the street also have a white cat, and several times I've yelled at Luke to get home, only to learn it was the other cat. I always knew if someone claimed Luke, that we could identify him by his one green and one blue eye, and smudged face. A few days ago, I was talking to my neighbor, and she commented that she loved that her cat has one green and one blue eye. I was flabbergasted. Her cat was from the litter their mama cat had; mine was abandoned by the railroad track. What is the likelihood of two white cats both having dual colored eyes living right across the street from each other. At least the neighbor's cat doesn't have a dirty face.
