In Germany, Remarque's novel has still its original name "Im Westen nichts Neues" (Nothing new in the West). And Trimalchio would have been a great name for The Great Gatsby. 🙂

I consider myself well-read, but scored miserably on this. Too many of them were very American and not so well-known in the rest of the world, some of them I've never even heard of either the book or the author. And a lot the 'great America Novel' ones I did know of I have never read. I should add that I've tried reading some of them many years ago, the Steinbecks, Hemingway etc. but frankly found them boring and not relevant. Comes from not being American, I guess. (Edit: not passing judgment, it's more about me than the books.)
