This is Saliwa Zain, or as I know her, Zanele and today she went on her first motorbike ride. Over the past year Zanele posed for me a number of times, all gorgeous photos, but these ones, are my favorite. Zanele was born with Cerebral Palsy. She is disabled. She is also a legend. Here our little legend is doing what she does best, realizing her dreams, ticking things of her bucket list and inspiring people.
Cerebral Palsy means that Zanele has a little trouble walking. She uses a crutch to get around and as her speech was also affected, she doesn’t talk all that much, well at least until she knows you. Some girls might have given up, but not our girl. No our girl got her diploma, joined the gym, dated some and dreamed of… motorbikes. Told you she is a legend.
Now how do you go from dreaming of motorbikes to actually riding one? The secret is simple…You tell a friend, who tells a friend, who mentions something to HR and long story short, your GM happens to own a motorbike. He also happens to be Werner Grimm the most awesome GM in the world. When Werner heard of her dream, he grinned, snapped his fingers twice and made the whole thing happen. He even organized a leather jacket, a super cool helmet and very authentic goggles. After a few test laps in the parking lot, the two of them hit the open road.
If you thought Zanele’s smile couldn’t get any bigger, you’d be wrong. Just check her out, the victory pose, the uncontaineble joy. Our girl ticked that one of her bucket list and to make a great day even better Werner presented her with a Buffalo Riders pin. She is now officially a biker. What next… I’m not sure, but I heard someone say skydiving.
