I received three Chinese Silky chickens from a friend. George (full name Georgina) developed Wry Neck Syndrome and during her treatment and recovery we bonded.

Meet George (full name Georgina). George is one of my silky chickens. She has a seriously out of control top knot.

While I was recovering from a foot operation George developed a slight tilt to her head.

Within a day or two the tilt became much worse. A quick Google check and I discovered she had Wry Neck Syndrome. I began treating her with Vitamin E, Selenium and B1 straight away (as per chicken site instructions). George had to be hand fed and given eye dropper dribbles of water numerous times a day. She became very tame very quickly.

It took weeks for George to make a full recovery. While she was still struck down with Wry Neck I began massaging her neck after each dose of Vitamin E etc. George enjoyed the massage and often went to sleep on my lap. By the time she recovered I’d also recovered from my surgery. When George went to sleep I was stuck there until she’d wake up. She’d wake for a second or so, look around and snuggle back down for more sleep. Even today, when she’s back with the other Silkies, George comes up to be picked up each day and gets a neck rub.
