The myth of Man Flu. We have all experienced the phenomena of a man getting sick with some measly cold, little indigestion or a headache and exaggerating the symptoms so much, that we start to worry if they are on their death bed. Though men really do like being taken care of (hence lying in bed for a week in a recovery of the common cold), it has recently been scientifically proven, that some diseases do get men sicker than women. It all just has to do with women having superior immune systems that are not so easily affected by viruses. Now, we don't want to ruin the fun of mocking the ever-so-strong male getting bed-bound by a runny nose, so we've compiled the absolute best of the manfluenza cases below.
And while boyfriends and husbands might say that they are suffering the pains of childbirth times ten when having a man cold, their partners tend to look and their cries for help in a rather unsympathetic way. Probably because us ladies, when hit by flu, still manage to go to work, take care of the children and the 'dying' husbands. Actually, their whining gives us a good chance for a funny meme or two.
Below you'll find a list of the best bed-bound husband memes, slowly dying and greatly suffering boyfriend memes and men memes of heroes who have survived the manfluenza.

Just so true and accurate - men simply cannot handle even a mefe sniffle. Out come the nose drops, flu tablets and non stop moaning & groaning, while women carry on regardless.
Lol, I heard a guy ask where the anaesthetic liquid was once... he meant antiseptic
She probably thought of echinacea but her subconscient made her say euthanasia :) Most man are such babies when they catch a cold...
Omg so true! I cleaned my house with a broken leg, but when my bf got a tiny little scratch from hiking he kept showing it to everyone for compassion and would not do anything but binge for a week
and taking care of two babies while he is tying up the bathroom because he is sick and I'm not as bad because I'm up taking care of two babies that are getting sick too. I drive to emergency and be put in with babies and he says that I wasn't that sick. They thought so. He is now my X
The real flu (rather than just a cold) does actually kill people. This year close to 100 people have died of the flu.
You are a very brave man. I think you might get "slaughtered" on this. I will miss all your funny posts here on Bored Panda when that happens. LOL LOL LOL Have an awesome weekend Sir..
Load More Replies...In my experience it is the other way around, but hey, the collective idea that men can't handle being sick is too strong ... xD
Catana Comics are my favorite comics ever.... they're just so relatable and funny :3
That was my husband with a sinus infection. He even wrote a letter to our kids, while he was in bed bemoaning the imminence of his death, about how he wanted them to turn out when they were adults. He was healthy again in about 10 days, after going to the doctor and demanding an antibiotic. Me, I take pseudoephedrine and ibuprofen for several days, and then I am better. Note, I never take to my bed; I don't have the time to do so.
I totally love Catana!!!!!!! I relate so much to these strips!!!! ♥♥♥♥
I figured out a long time ago how to make sleeping pills seem like it was his idea..
No need to. The next man will have a cold too. One day. And you can't kill them all. Unless you want to become a black widow. Then go for it.
My husband regularly brings up the time he was so sick 32 years ago.
Blue Hippo, you are correct. That lamp is magnificent.
Load More Replies...Women do seem to handle colds and flu better than men, I have to admit
:D this is brilliant... i wish my wife say this to me, when I will be sick - this will make me laugh so good that I will be okay in second....
Yeah, too sick to go to work, on his computer, yet when home, plays on his computer..difference? None!
My husband suffered three bad operazione last year: a very bad period, 5 months at home from work. A vero terribile periodo. Forma me.
The poor man is evading the Grim Reaper here, and all you, his adoring wife, can do is makes jokes at his expense. My heart goes out to a fallen brother... :(
When men are sick, they act as if they're on their deathbed
Load More Replies...And the Red Cross is wasting time rescuing hurricane victims?!? Wyyyhyyhyyhhyyy?????
You don't just get one, sir. You must earn one. You must stare death down in the face, maybe sneeze in his eye, and only then, will you be deemed worthy of such a mug.
Load More Replies...there should be a "I survived my husband's flu" one for the ladies. they deserve it :)
when I was in labour my husband got a headache so I had to text my family, in between contractions, to bring him some pain meds because "he couldn't take it anymore"
My friend gave birth in august. Her husband was not there because he fainted over her screams and someone took him home to rest.
Is that like the "most beautiful chocolate cake you've ever seen?"
I could be on my death bed and mine would ask me to go pick up a pizza. Home with a drunk felling inner ear infection and that's exactly what he asks me to do.
I once was recovering from an open (bones sticking out) compound (more than one) , surgically repaired (second of six) ankle break that had required a bone transplant to repair. I was under Dr. Orders to only use my crutches to get to the bathroom and away from fire or flood. My fella had a upset tummy, (heartburn) and asked " could you please go to the refrigerator and get me a gingerale?" I looked at him, waiting for it to sink in, and after a minute, I bopped him on the head with my crutch.
... but you got him the Ginger ale right? I mean heart burn, that's like a cold's cousin!
One time i had gum surgery. When I got home my husband with a sore throat slept all day while I cared for our 2 year old while trying to recover from surgery.
It's like reading a page of my own life. Much to my husbands annoyment I always get my husbands sniffles and get much sicker
If you only *think* he has a cold y'all better stand down. You'll KNOW when it's the real thing!
So true . My dad is like that sometimes. Blood coming out from a cut is w.e. a fever, he's in the couch with hot soup and my mom massaging his feet n my sis scratching his head
Yes. My ex will "tough it out" w an injury, but becomes a 200 lb. baby w a fever.
my dad had a headache so he decided to take off work because of it...sometimes i think he just wants a reason to stay home
I use to go to school with a mild migraine. Dad would get a mild headache and complain his head would explode.
Load More Replies...My ex had a cold and missed a week of school and I made him. A care package thinking that he was dying but the next day he was completely fine and went to a arcade with me lol
lets just hope that if that happens that they don't get cramps too
Load More Replies...Sorry you should see him get sick before you commit.
Load More Replies...Especially when you are sick at the same time.... But who is the one having to take care of the kids, and clean the house, etc? Not the dying husband, that's for sure. 🤦🏼♀️
I'm a nurse, and he never ever takes any of my advice, to feel better, and never has... I want to hear it from the doctor.......he says, ..
my husband never shows that he is sick. I had to force him to go to hospital when he had a mild heart attack. im the total opposite.. hmmm... maybe he pamper me too much..
Bruh I’ll have a 102 degree fever and my guy friends expect me to bring stuff to the party still and make lasagna. Nah bro have your friend with the slight cloud who is claiming to die do it
My guy friend: sneezes Guy friend: I think I’m dying Me: is bleeding out of my pants Me: omg I feel so sorry lemme make u a care package bro I’ll make you as much chili as u want
The first husband that dies from a cold? All the wives near by, will bury him quietly, so the world never Knows!
I love the way he says he refuses to die right after hopeing the cold wont kill him.
OK, I read all of these, but I just don't get it! My mother died when I was 5 YO, and I was single for 20+ years ... never had any of these "man problems". PS, my wife and I are deeply in love!!!
It's a medical fact that a man has worse symptoms than a woman..........it must be true, I read it on the internet.
I think it has something to do with being around a woman. You ever see those action movies, the hero jumps through fire, gets shot, survives from an explosion, and then the girl patches him up an he goes " ow ow ow"
BINGO! Women are the 'Care Givers', and when there is one around, men automatically look for some care. If you weren't around, we'd just have to do without. You're a wise lady June. :D
Load More Replies...I must have found the only man alive who is the exact opposite. Migraine? Eh, just pop a painkiller and go to work. Vomited? Meh, my desk at work is close to the toilets. Diarrhoea? See the previous point. Fever? Pfff, I'll just drink a bit more water. Honestly, I have to make him stay home from work when he's really ill. And even then I have to remind him he can't go to the shop.
Actually, he's not the only man I know who's like that. My dad went to work with what he thought was a migraine, but it turned out to be a cerebral haemmorage. He survived.
Load More Replies...I never liked that clichee. Everyone gets sick. Sometimes an illness has no visible symptoms but still hurts. Pain tresholds vary. Please don't belittle people that feel sick and also take good care of your own body.
I disagree. Nothing is off limits in humor. And it's jokes like these that brighten the day. - Signed- A Man
Load More Replies...I feel the reason we act like were dying while women have it "easier" is pain thresh hold, I firmly believe women have a higher one then males, first there periods, those come with cramps {i am a guy raised by girls so I know but at the same time dont} that is way-way more painful than a normal {like poop cramp} {sorry if im wrong only heard of this} there's pain from growing there brests and even childbirth when there older while us men we may deal with scraps and cuts, none of this effect the inner works until the cold/flu, then it hurts badly, while women have been dealing with inner pain for most of their lives, men haven't and it takes us down mostly by surprise since we see women not suffering much from flu/colds there's also the case of men also are and Have to be seen as the tough guy {even us gay girly type have to be seen like that } and will fight it till it get too bad to fight anymore, and most like the care that shown too at that point {mothers love thoughts}
It is a good point and it all makes sense, but it's still not okay that a woman is expected to work sick during her man being healthy, but when the opposite situation happens, he's bed ridden and she still has to work. I mean, sure not all couples are like this, but that's what I see in these posts in this article.
Load More Replies...Bad timing for this post...in Australia anyway. It's been a horror flu season, with most of the east coast dealing with a flu epidemic. It recently claimed the life of a young man who had not long become a father, as well as an 8 year old girl, and 8 members of an aged care facility; hospitals are cancelling elective surgery to make room for the extra flu and pneumonia patients. Just recently we've been told not to brush off "man flu" as it might legitimately be a medical emergency.
Those are terrible things, and why we in the US have an advertising campaign going every fall to remind us to get our flu shots. A few years back when the H1N1 flu first hit, I had two friends lose their husbands.
Load More Replies...Yeah I'm definitely more whiny than my husband when it comes to being sick. But my ex epitomizes this entire thing.
Load More Replies...As a woman, I totally agree with you on this one. If the genders this post were reversed....we'll let's face it, it would never have been posted.
Load More Replies...My female friend (in her forties) complained about her fever the fifth week in a row, and couldn't go anywhere. She didn't have pains or other symptoms, but her mother was shopping groceries for her, because of her terrible fever; ME: "How high is your temperature anyway?" HER: "Oh, my temperature is normal" ME: "Then you don't have a fever." HER: "But it FEELS like I have a fever!" (Her mum has vowed never to shop for her again). - Meanwhile, my brother-in-law worked for two and a half days on his farm with an arm that was hurting after he had fallen off the garage roof. My sister kept insisting he should have it looked at. He wouldn't. It would heal itself. Until that is, the vet told him he had to have it looked at because it was broken. It turned out, the hand was broken too.
