The world without siblings wouldn’t be the same. If you’re the oldest child in the family like me, you know the price you pay for ordering the little one around. And if you’re the smallest in the pack, well, you probably know it better than me, anyway.
So in some ways, having a frenemy for life is both a blessing and sometimes a curse, but honestly, more of a blessing. Like, who else would you annoy the heck out of, or who else would you join a secret alliance with to sneak out to your friends when you know very well that you’d both be in trouble? Or who would you still say "don’t tell mom" to when you turn 50?
Siblings are for life, and these painfully spot-on sibling tweets selected by Bored Panda are proof that this life has more colors, shouting, and constant "can you lend me a (insert smth you don’t wanna lend but can’t refuse)?" moments.

@Orange, They tell each other not to tell their parents, now have s*x. What the f**k is wrong with you.
Load More Replies...Yep ! And it is so great to have a your most selflessly loving relation around you, for a long time in your life. Why wouldn't you try your best never ever to disappoint your mom, even if you are 70?
My mum wouldn't let my 60-year-old sister and her long time man friend sleep in the same bedroom when they visited her.
I'm 51, sister is 43 and brother is 41. We all still threaten to tell Mom and Dad!! Hahaha
I love my sister, and I’d give my life for her, but I don’t like her very much
I love and like my sister but unless she’s sick, she can get her own damn water!
Load More Replies...I can feel this pain . . . same with food. NO SHARING FRIES AT ALLL . . . DON'T ASK ME FOR MY LAST ONE
To find out more about the complex dynamics of sibling relationships, Bored Panda reached out to Dr. Lise Deguire, a licensed psychologist and award-winning author of “Flashback Girl: Lessons on Resilience From a Burn Survivor.”
“When a child has a sibling, they learn from their earliest days that attention, love, and resources must be shared. Parents take care of both of them, so children have to learn to wait their turn, to share the cake, to take turns picking what to watch on TV.
”Turns out that these early lessons are the ones that help kids understand two crucial things: that other people matter and that other people have needs. “Kids with siblings also learn, early on, that they can wait now and then get what they want,” said Dr. Lise and added that “Generally, these are good life lessons for children to have.”
Or as one of my brothers would do “here hold this” and then walks away whilst leaving his rubbish for you to dispose of.
I never did that as the oldest sibling. But it reminds me of “Golden Girls” in which Rose always got hit with the newspaper atop her head.
I’m glad my sibling relationship wasn’t like that because it sounds boring.
Been there. Done that. Now I can go to the bathroom in the complete darkness and still be ok.
Years ago my family took a trip to Ireland to see are great uncle's and the hotel we stayed at had a outside switch my brother had no idea why the lights would always go out!
omg I've been there many MANY times lol (the bathroom also don't have windows
Even inside the bathroom. I’ve turned the light out on her while she was showering more than once because we were fighting.
No way, a lock is worse. I've been locked in the bathroom after a shower i don't know how many times.
It only took 9 minutes to de-escalate......until the one sister sees the other wearing her clothes to the movies.....
However, sometimes, these lessons don't go so well. According to Dr. Lise, “if parents have clear favorites, or if one child gets a disproportionate share of attention, it can be very painful and lead to long-term feelings of being inadequate, inferior, or uncared for.”
In order to avoid this, Dr. Lise recommends for families to have repeated bonding traditions that actively include all the children. For example, “Dinner time, holiday traditions, family vacations, game night.” The licensed psychologist explained that “all these are bonding opportunities to help kids feel a part of the family, hopefully in an equal way.”
Or repeat a joke we just heard because we know the other one will laugh!
But if they don’t laugh at that. THEN it is serious.

I must say my brothers and I fought sooooo much as kids but now we are really close and haven’t had a fight in over 15 years.
That's exactly what it's like. My sister and I will just start talking after about an hour of giving each other the cold shoulder.
That’s how it was when I lived with my sis and I miss it!
Load More Replies...My arguments with my brother frequently end in a google or a question to a parent, a smug me, and an annoyed brother 🙃 (I'm older so it's a lot more often that I know more than he does.)
This one is just so perfect. Just the perfect description of siblings. Literally me and my sibling until like age 25
i feel so special when she does that, considering the fact i have 3 older sisters
When my dad gets me my favorite food at the grocery store and hides it because she hates it
Might get downvoted for this but I think this should specify younger sibling...
My brother: only have to put trash away, never has to clean his room, and finishes 1 assignment.Parents: PRAISE. Me: Does dishes and unloads dishes, cleans room once a week, does part of the laundry, and Can only finish one assignment. Parents: WHY DIDNT YOU FINISH
i am the oldest and my fam is just like that's what ur supported to do..
this is me and my brother when i'm in a zoom meeting, or doing homework, or drawing, or reading, or eating, or sleeping.......................
When my brother is panting or breathing heavily near me, I breathe as heavily as I can to imitate him
Only child here, but this does happen with my husband... how can someone breath so loud??!! In his defense, apparently I chew really loud so I guess it’s kinda equal...
I did the same with my dad's car when I was a teenager. I don't think he knows to this day...
How does a teenager get a car fixed at all? Not to mention getting it done in 6 hours?
Maybe the brother was older, and only she was still in high school

and if you offered to share the pizza the sibling would probably stand still and let you slap them
Do you even have a sibling? sharing pizza was the cause of 75% of the fights with my brother
Load More Replies...That’s a dumb question! A slap? That’s nothing. I would slap any human within slapping range for $1.5 M
Yup, I wouldn’t hesitate lol. Would I get double if I slapped both of my siblings? Either the top or bottom offer would suffice.
the adventure zone! yuusssss! but also lup would probably do it for even less than her offer
My dad's rule was "the one who is pouring or cutting doesnt get to pick the one they want" My brother was like an architect of cutting pizza.
i just drink half of my siblings drinks and then give it to them
My dad used to tell us about his sister making hollow scoops of ice cream so those dishes looked like they had more where the small dish had dense scoops.
It was the last banana, we both wanted it, mother said he needed it more...He cut up the whole thing into his cereal bowl and ate maybe a third. He then gave the bowl to the dog. To this day almost 70 yrs later I still remember that, his self satisfied look as he put the bowl on the floor................
My brother does this. Instead of calling me by my name, he calls me 'sister'.
All my brother's friends used to call me "sister". I was the official sister of the whole bunch of guys...

hehe me and my sister do this, I pull down my mask and make a loud gagging noise, like I'm boutta throw up. Or one of us will be at the top of the stairs and will rush down and kick the other one's knees forward. Or just chase each other around the hallway to smack each other's necks. hehe
I would never pass my sister in the school hall and not talk, unless we were having a fight. That seems strange to me, but we were pretty close.
This is why a moderately harsh environment nurtures better individuals. How else would you come up (or research) sick burns if you're chummy with your siblings?
At school? Home is supposed to be a place without confrontations.
Load More Replies...yo this is everyday life at home with siblings . . . but something you miss when u get older
Omg did I hate my brother when he would do this s**t to me as kids. He would put his finger so dam close to my face & say I'm not touching you & our mom would never tell him to stop, so I'd go smack his finger away, but then guess who'd get in trouble for hitting him (me)
OMG! Yes, this was my bro & me -- all the time in the backseat of the car!!!! WOW-- memories
Have to try silently exiting the room so you don't get blamed too, didn't always work though.
Yeah, did that once and my mom started yelling at me on why I was leaving.

That’s why you shouldn’t have even smiled in the first place! Especially if it’s a two sibling household. You’re always a unit.

Load More Replies...This totally happened with my brother and I! It was like an overnight switch between fighting all the time and becoming best friends. (and luckily for me that happened right before my little brother shot up to be a foot taller than me and could really have kicked my butt. :'D )
How my mom explains it about me and my brother: "They where always fighting until they sat at the bar together" (legal drinking age was 16).
This is so true for me and my sister we fought almost our whole life’s until I turned 15 and now if if she punches me or gives me a slap on the head I just brush it off.
Got that with my sister. Me: Short, nearly black eyes, darker brown. Sister: Tall, obvious brown eyes, paler brown. Yep, not alike at all.
I got this a few times with my younger brother. We have even been asked if we are twins. Our birthday is the same day except I am 3 years older.
I have a fraternal twin, only our hair is the same color. The only similarity. Yet somehow, we are "so alike"
no no no. you got it all wrong. either it's an insult to me, or an insult to her. i obviously look better
I have a bonus kid (step daughter) that looks like my bio daughter. They get asked almost everywhere we go if they're twins. I giggle, they roll their eyes lol
I love the "Bonus kid" expression for a step relative that is not only "step" but part of the bunch.

No, no you don’t. Something I have definitely experienced. Another one is my middle brother hiding around the corner with our universal remote sneakily changing the channels, volume or turning the tv off. Bloody rat bag.
When I was very young (early 1960s) my best friend and I found out that playing jacks would change the channel - we would play on the kitchen floor, just above the tv in the den and change channels constantly while my brothers yelled and never knew how it happened.

I remember when I was younger I would pick on my brother a lot. Then one day he told me a boy at camp was picking on him and i got a posse of girls together and we went and threatened that other little boy with bodily harm if he ever picked on my brother again. All those girls identified with the idea that only _we_ are allowed to pick on our own siblings, no one else. :'D
This is so true. My bro and I live 20 minute apart and almost never talk but when it comes to family we are there for each other in a heartbeat!

One time I shot my sister in the forehead with a nerf gun a foot away. I didn't think it was loaded.
I remember one time my sister and her friends were doing "older sister" things, she could drive and I was like 8. I told her that I wanted to do these things, she said well you have to get stoned first (this was back in the 70's) So my 8 year old mind says, well what you guys going to do take me out the filed and throw rocks at me? lol
I put a pinch if sand in my sis bed. Drove her nuts. Great prank o.o
My brothers used to sneak into a room (sometimes via a window) and try out their garroting technique on me. Can't sit with my back to a door or window. Had a very understanding teacher that let me change where I sat after he had put me with my back to the door, right by it, and he thought I was staring out of the window. I explained that I was watching the reflection of the door.
My parents changed the garage into a bedroom for my oldest brother. He and I took turns sharing with middle sibling until it got too violent. Parents didn't try to get oldest and myself to share a room, thought it would be too destructive. Got my own room aged 6. Brothers were 8 and 9.
I got so angry I actually ran at my sister grabbed her at the waist and drove her out of my room. We hit the hall wall and knocked a huge (butt sized) dent into it. We went from angry with each other to, Dad's going to kill us comradery. It was a constant battle for my dad the patches would crack. All mom had to say was "don't go upstairs, your father is trying to repair the wall again." We'd find something to do far far away.

me & my bro always fight over who gets to take a shower first because we both like hot showers and whoever uses the shower first gets most of the hot water. we've never done this kinda thing before... may try it
with me and my sister its "Ok, I'm gonna take a shower" "What no I said I was going to earlier" "well... you're not in..??" **cue me stripping as I sprint to the bathroom (I'm the younger, I have no shame when it comes to this) and her sprinting to her room, and me grabbing my towel and sitting in the shower until she gives up 40 minutes later**
I know this is about siblings but I do this to my husband all the time.
I do this all the time. I'm about to pop at the seams but I'll eat just so my siblings won't finish it.
Yes!!! When I lived at home I bought a box of frozen snickers one time and my bro and dad at the WHOLE box in one evening. When I got home from work there were none left. Let me be clear.... the two of them at 8 frozen snickers in one evening!!!! Bastards! That was 25 years ago and it still bugs me!
We had to make rules regarding food for my kids. If you had to get up from eating and you handed your plate for someone to hold, you had to say "hold this don't eat it" or your food was fair game. If you had leftovers and claimed them you had 24 hours to eat them before they were up for grabs. Also, not related to food but the classic "move your feet, lose your seat" was employed a LOT.
nothing wrong with any of the posts. they are just pointing out what sibling relationships are like.

I tell the one being copied to just stay silent. The one who was copying will get bored in a few seconds.
I always try to do that, but it's hard sometimes because my brother will resort to copying my sitting position, breathing, exact hand position. Like if I'm reading, he will pretend to read an imaginary book. 🙄 It does end faster than continuing to talk, though.

YES. When I was a kid me and my sister were arguing and their was a bottle of lotion where we were arguing idk and she started saying "throw the lotion bottle at me. You won't." so guess what I did? I THREW THE F*****G LOTION BOTTLE AT HER. It hit her right in the face and she just looked at me for a couple seconds (most terrifying moment of my life) just to let me know what s**t was about to go down and then SCREAMED LIKE A M***********G PTERODACTYL until someone came in and had the audacity to yell AT ME for making her scream. Yeah, it's always the younger one who gets cleverer with drawing others sympathy lol Us firstborn don't have that cheekiness as much (but wish lol)

My oldest sister is adopted. One time she and my other biological sister were arguing and she threw it in her face, "Well you're adopted!". My oldest sister retorted, "Let me tell you something. They CHOSE ME! WHEN YOU CAME THEY HAD TO TAKE WHAT THEY COULD GET!".
We used to pretend we were adopted (or hope we were) The insult being a child of dad's
bruh almost everyone in my main family (excluding step family i never see) is adopted; me and my full brother officially adopted by step mom, step siblings officially adopted by my dad. they tried to say im adopted before in arguments "UH SO ARE YOU"
Me in literally just sleeping: *breathes* My Bro: stop or ima tell mom
Omg the " quit looking at me" " I'm not looking at YOU " from my kids still haunts me
omg, this is so true. I love my siblings, but sometimes I do Not like them
My sister made me crazy for 55 years. She was the baby, spoiled, I had to buy my own clothes and share them with her..........folks bought hers. She told me I ruined the family dynamic when I was around.....on and on. And yet, I/we lost her last year. I miss her every single day. I found our messaging recently on my phone. At least there we were always nice and kind to one another. It was such a blessing. I did adopt her dog, Lovey girl just has to move or breathe and hair is all over me and the house........I know my sister is laughing wherever she is. I miss her.
My almost-5-year old describes her relationship with her younger sister like this.
I was in the hospital once and my husband had to work so our kids being nice decided to clean the whole house. They had music blaring and made a plan to say "what music?" When dad came home and asked about it. He walked in the house to change eat dinner and get everyone ready to come see me. He hadn't said a word when son looked at him and said "what music?".
lmao its the word deviate for me.... lmao i have no idea why that was so funny!
I currently use this with my 2 year old by threatening to give food to her 3 month old sister... She has no idea the baby can't eat the food, but it works :)
Had a big spider on the ceiling in my room once, growing up. Told my brother he had to kill it because he was the man of the house with the parents out. This m**o went, got a broom, bashed the spider with the handle, sprayed spider guts all over my ceiling and punched the handle up into the insulation. I complained, and all I got was "You told me to kill it. You didn't say how!" Smh
she made me try an kill a f*****g wolf spider on the wall so I threw a bible at it 😭
I get mad at my brother for killing it in general. " DJ THAT SPIDER HAD AL LIFE!!! IT COULVE HAD A WIFE AND KIDS! YOU MURDERER "
Me sis sent my mom an email saying that I was a jerk, but she also sent it to me. 🤨
My brother reserved that right over me. I was being physically bullied by an older boy on the estate where I grew up. My brother found him knocked him around a bit and told him never go near her again. He didn't. Especially as he knew my brother was into martial arts. When I asked why did he stick up for me when we fight and argue all the time he just said nobody's allowed to give you a hard time like that that's my job. We get along really well now.
both brothers and annoying guy friends that are actually fun (AHEMdapper-if-you-were-online-i-would-probably-send-this-to-you-so-ill-just-do-this)
Nah I used to tell my kids "I brought you into this world, I can take you out" when they were pestering me.
Lol. 2 sisters 1 brother. I can bully them. Noone else will survive to tell the tale of their attempts
No, it's my little sister tying me to a chair, door, bed, anything when I try to kill my younger brother.
Being locked in cupboard by twin older siblings = massive fear of spiders and avoiding them
Waking up to a sibling watching you sleep whilst they toy with a knife
Every time my sibling takes a foot in the kitchen after a fight I’m bolting out the door.
That's why my youngest sister's not allowed to use knives unless our parents are in the room

I had a work colleague once that had this. You could write on his skin with your finger. He just loved us all wanting to have a go! Can't remember what the disease was but it was controlled with antihistamines.
Good grief. Looks like they got slapped with a hot rubber glove.
My sister pulled me up the stairs by my hair, I had a huge lump on the back of my head because she pulled so hard she separated my scalp from the bone underneath it and the bump was the blood trapped underneath it. Hurt to brush my hair for month until.it finally went away.

This is so true!! My brother was treated so much better than me..... it wasn't even subtle!
I mean its kinda true i'm the oldest all the love goes to my little siblings. i thought about running away
I am already feeling sorry for my youngest brother (7). My middle brother gets everything because he cries (he is 10). It is so annoying. And then he wants to complain that everyone hates him even my parents.
LOL I am the youngest by a wide margin. My sister is 16 years older and my brother 13 years older... what really sucked was being no you couldn't do or have something because of something your sibling did like 10 years before you even thought of it! For example, we lived in the country and I asked for a horse.. nope because my brother and sister didn't take care of theirs that they had long before I was thought of. My brother and sister had their first car bought for by dad, I had to buy mine because they didn't take care of their cars...
the family hierarchy from bottom to top-- me (i not kidding i just stay in my room away from everyone else)-- full brother-- younger twin-- older twin-- 5 y/o sister-- older brother-- sister-in-law-- older sister-- baby sister (makes sense for her)-- parents are king and queen
I get it! If I didn't have 8 birthmarks on my face we would be identical

Ask them to give you an organ and they act like you wanted a bite of their sandwich “ok.”
I ended up shaving my mustache because of this very thing. People would ask if we were twins we would tell them we are 5 years apart, then they would guess that I was the older one.
The opposite has happened with me and my little sister. We look completely different. One time I was bringing her to my mom's car from school and a teacher yelled at us because she didn't realize we were related and she thought my sister was just walking out for some reason.
And then you try and hush them when they cry hoping mom and dad won't hear them.
This is on point. If my little brother gets hurt he acts all innocent and lets you give him a hug and then he attacks you.

4sure we used to ride my dad's car to bus stop, two of us kids and only one empty seat in the front. dad fixed it by making us take turns with the front seat.
And then they do something to screw u over, and ur like, "I should've let u burn "

we told my sister she was chinese and that she was adopted. sadly she has embraced that and now listens to chinese music. All. The. Time. she also has a bunch of posters of k-pop groups which is quite unnerving
Tom And Jerry actually seems to really embody what living with siblings is like. Of course, I say that as an only child, so I could be wrong.
I forget about it every time I try to hold a grudge, but my dad doesn't know this so he reminds me accidentally.

My sibling has to be the first to use everything (bras, clothes, cosmetics, and etc...), and I didn’t care for a long time. She was surprised when I charged her after staining my blouses...they still had tags on and the incidents were back to back. I don’t know where she got the confidence to yell at me.
Unrelated to the post: I know everyone is angry because the bots/trolls keeps downvoting good comments! But I’m positive BP will do something about it soon! Also: there is a user my the name of Amelija Janavicius who is extremely racist and uses the N-word in every comment. She claims she works for BP and that’s why she isn’t blocked. I’m not sure how to report her, but if you do, please share! Finally, to the bots and trolls: I do not, I repeat DO NOT care if this comment is downvoted and/or hidden. Thank you.
ive already contacted bp staff, nothing back yet though
