Australian-Based Artist Created 39 New Relatable Comics About Everyday Life, And They Might Make You Smile
Jess Rae, the Australian artist behind 'Doodley Squat Comics,' finds plenty of humor in the everyday situations that come with being a woman, mom, and partner, turning ordinary moments into witty and relatable illustrations.
The cartoonist’s simple, almost childlike drawing style is part of what makes her series so charming. Rather than focusing on making every drawing perfect, she puts the emphasis on the situations and jokes, often drawing directly from her daily life.

Jess started making comics after getting tired of the text-heavy Facebook feed and deciding to draw the things happening around her instead. Eventually, those doodles on her phone grew into a comic series she’s been creating for almost a decade, with her style and tools evolving along the way.
The artist touches on universal topics like parenting, relationships, and the everyday moments many of us experience but rarely talk about. Jess has a knack for finding humor in the familiar.

Spouses who constantly grab and eat food that their partner is eating (or clearly set aside to enjoy later, such as labeled leftovers from a restaurant meal) are not funny; they are self-centered and oblivious to the feelings and needs of others. Ask if your partner is planning to eat that, if you're not sure leave it alone, and don't finish up something you know they especially love (unless you are immediately buying more).
