Before and after the work-hard-play-harder Generation X came two sets of people who seem to be at constant war with each other. Baby Boomers and Millenials have their differences and are prepared to defend their colliding points of view by all means. At times, this Millennials vs. Boomers conflict gets really emotional, and it seems that both are prepared to take it to the streets.
Baby Boomers are typically considered to be born between the mid-1940s and mid-1960s. They were the result of the end of World War II when birth rates spiked. The Boomers became healthier and wealthier than any generation before them. They are thought to be work-centric, extremely hardworking and motivated by position, perks, and prestige. Mentally focused and competitive, the generation grew up in turbulent times (consider the Cold War and the Cuban Missile Crisis or the assassinations of John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King, Jr.). Because of that, Boomers began to fight for social, economic and political changes. Idealistic and uncynical, this generation was able to buy a house and a car, to chill on a beach, instead of fighting a war.
However, since the Baby Boomers sacrificed a great deal to get where they are, this generation believes that others - mainly, the Millennials - should pay more dues. Millennial generation (also known as Generation Y) are people born between roughly 1980 and 2000. They are thought to possess a great deal of confidence and tolerance, but also entitlement and narcissism. Refusing to comply, they blame the Baby Boomers for wrecking the economy and having zero understanding of the Millennial definition of work-life balance, necessary in the workplace. To shed some light on the conflict, Bored Panda has decided to collect some of the most memorable comebacks the Millennials threw back ant the Baby Boomers. Some are lighthearted and funny, while others try to reason and inform. Scroll down to check our list of Millennial jokes and their clapbacks in this Baby Boomers vs. Millennials war.

yeah, they're numbers but the monetary value was different at that time. in the future that 45K++ would seem cheap to someone...perspective
Load More Replies...Out of 52 weeks a year at $1.45 an hour and a 5 day work week, not a 7 day work week, that would be 6.76 hours per day. But at $7.25 an hour to pay off $45,800 you would have to work 17.3 hours a day 7 days a week or 24 hours a day 5 days a week plus 2 hours on a 6th day. The equivalent hourly wage would be $26.06 an hour.
that's why it's in perspective of hours work (those do not have inflation and hope they will never do)
Load More Replies...My mom thinks that just because at my age, she had a baby (my older sister), worked full time while attending college and had her own apartment at age 22, that I should be able to as well... lmao I make above minimum wage and I still can’t afford to move out. They gotta stop expecting us to live our lives the same way as them. If times now were the same way today as they were back then, then they’d have a valid point
I think people need to watch reruns of All in the Family and see the fights Baby Boomer Mike "Meathead" got into with "Greatest Generation" Archie. Baby Boomers blamed the Greatest Generation for WW2 and global genocide, the Crash and the Depression, atomic escalation, runaway inflation, homophobia, you name it. Everything millennials yell about now the Boomers yelled about then. La plus la change, le plus les meme choses.
Adjusted for inflation the annual tuition for Yale should only be $16,797.01
They talk about neat handwriting like it matters. I don't trust a doctor whose writing I can read.
Good way to overtrust. I want to be able to read all her notes. Doctors make mistakes.
Load More Replies...Though I will admit, it is interesting to see the forms of signatures that people use since they didn't learn cursive when a credit card slip requires one.
Signature doesn't need to be or look like cursive. #45 was a series of up/down strokes. My roomie uses initials.
Load More Replies...Oh please. I know more than one millennial who's too stupid to turn on the computer.
Know? Lucky you, I WORK with them There was this guy who, instead of pressing CTRL+ALT+CANC actually TYPED it.
Load More Replies...That's mean 😠Some millenials can't spell either.Good manners like good handwriting matters.
There is absolutely no use for cursive beyond signing your name.
Load More Replies...Hahaha. Love this one :). Although: millennials have a preconception of the elderly as being daft. We (the elderly) were the ones who got computers and the internet available to everyone, for you, the millennials, to have and hold. Nowadays, you wouldn't know how to survive without your telephones, ipads and internet!
1. Hell no. We can totally survive without telephones and the internet, it's just that we aren't in some kind of survival situation where we aren't allowed to take advantage of or enjoy the things we have. 2. Maybe YOU are good at working a computer, but I have met a LOT of elderly people who didn't have to work with computers who have a lot of trouble with even simple things on the internet. Yes, the joke is founded on a generalization, but you can't just refute it back with a new generalization of: "BUT I'M NOT, SO EVERYONE ELSE IN MY AGE GROUP CAN'T BE!"
Load More Replies...But my generation doesn't seem to understand good, non-racist jokes either.
I don't know if I count as a Millenial, but I'm roughly around that age: There are a lot of people who can take jokes that are race-based, or based around something "controversial", but they need to be good JOKES first. For example, if you watch many comedy movies from the early 2000s, you'll notice that "That guy is gay" is treated like a joke ON IT'S OWN. I can take jokes about being gay or something, but 1. It has to be a joke and 2. It can't just be an insult disguised as a joke. Don't say "You just need to take a joke" and expect a positive response if what you said is basically just a thinly-veiled insult.
<---GenX Slacker. Yeah, it better be a good joke and not just an insult.
Load More Replies...Someone can say "I don't like mexican" meaning mexican food and you ilk calls it racist.
Well, if a joke can get a guy in court for two years, after which he's found guilty, I'd say that no, millenials can't take a joke..
I don't think Millenials should get the grief that's been thrown their way...but there are plenty of Baby Boomers who don't have a home that is paid off. Wages have remained stagnant for most workers for the past 40 years. Don't yell at boomers, elect different people to congress and the white house so the 1% don't get all the gains of the last 40 years.
they were smart and they earned it. The 1% doesn't "steal" your money.Nor do they keep you from doing what they did. And they pay about 37% in taxes. Granted, a lot of them started out with huge cash flow to start with, but thats cause they inherited from people who Also worked hard and invested well. There's plenty of millennials out there that have made astounding amounts of money...Amazon, Facebook, Apple, Google, You Tube..how come no one yells at them for being stinking rich?
Load More Replies...very, very few Boomers paid a house off by the time they were 25/35.Unless they had a trust fund. I think the millenials will be crying when they see their inheritances go down the tubes cause were living so long...hahhahaha....nursing homes run 200,000 a year
a lot are....maybe half of 75 million. A lot have to keep working.
Load More Replies...It's true. Here in Canada my dad became a firefigher with a high school education with average grades . They trained him to drive an air-brake truck and all the courses that candidates have to pay for themselves before they even apply.
What's the incentive for the boomer? We don't want to return to that part of our youth as much as you want what we worked a lifetime for.
Please turn of all electric appliances, park your car and walk (no busses or mass transport either), find a way to keep yourself (and family), warm. Apparently, 'you' and other monsters believed your mommy and daddy who insisted you were 'special' while working their tales off ruining Your world!
Load More Replies...market you refer to is called appreciation -- twice after boomers got in the market. crashes happened , both caused be easy credit & many of your Gen .
If I had a dollar for every time I heard a millennial complain about a boomer, I'd be richer than you by a long shot. BP has lots of anti-boomer lists. Boomers didn't ruin the housing market - our kids did so blame your parents.
If by saying the market we ruined, you mean the incredable things we provided you, you're welcome. Do you think the internet, phones, the transistor, the LED, solar cells, wind turbines, the microchip, and freedom just happened?
As a millennial, this is the one stance that strikes me as odd. The ruined market helps house buyers. It lowered the prices substantially. I don't mean buying a house to use it as a financial asset later, I mean to simply live in it.
The ruined market benefits those who already had the money to re-invest in it, not those who just graduated and started looking for a job during a time where everyone was getting shown the door and were competing against one another.
Load More Replies...Was totally going to write that before I saw your response!
Load More Replies...I want to go back in time and b***h slap the damn boomer that completely glued s**t carpeting all over the entire 200 year old house with hard wood. Did you really need to use 50 gallons of glue????Really? Those floors look beautiful under all that glue
Yeah, that baby boomer would whip your a*s, your generation is weak
Load More Replies...It was like that when I moved in. I stripped three layers of rotting linoleum ...
Those weren't the Baby Boomers...that was The Silent Generation. I'm a boomer and my parents bought a home in 1959 when I was only 3 years old with wall to wall carpeting over the hardwood floors.
Wait, how are boomers responsible for ALL of climate change? You kids and your plastic one use lifestyle, not me and my recycle everything.
I feel like that's a bit of a jump, but who the hell is whining about department stores closing? The only thing I care about with regards to department stores is the unfairness of the corporate monopoly held by many of them, such as Wal-Mart.
Where I live in Oregon, it's the Baby Boomers who are out PLAYING Pokémon Go, including me and my husband. Our 18-yo son rolls his eyes at us. He and his friends think no one plays Pokémon Go anymore so I had to take a picture of the 80+ people at a raid a few weeks ago. Plenty of people are still playing but because it's not the kids themselves, they think NO one is playing.
This is the best interpretation of "Do as I say not as I do" if ever there was one.
Oh, I get it, you think boomers are your parents' age. No, we are your parents parents. You need to stop blaming your grandparents for the errors of their children.
My parents generation didn't f**k up the current economy, my grandparents generation (the boomers did) Boomers are the reason for the decline of American civilization
Load More Replies...This is true and a more important point than some might realize. My son just wanted to go outside and play as a kid. That's it. But most of the other kids were not often outside or didn't want to (or couldn't) go outside. And I almost NEVER saw the girls outside playing. It was heart-breaking.
Forgot about Pokémon Go after a few months. Walking through the local botanical garden and kept getting followed by some very pasty looking people. Thought they were part of a kidnapping for sex ring kind of thing. Then I hear them talking and was like "oh". Not a babyboomer, just a cop trying to keep the world safe.
Pokemon Go was popular like 5 minutes. At least where I'm coming from. But I can see the point. :)
Upper left: little jerk's smiling. Now he's 75 and in a nursing home where "those ppl" are taking care of him.
Don't mean to offend. Ppl of all races work at care facilities. I was not raised to be racist. My late grandfather was African American.
Load More Replies...Ok, these are just a few photos, while you could find WAY more photos of people that are against segregation back then
I think that's beside the point. I mean, people who complain about current social justice issues likely have some overlap with people who would ask why the black rights activists were "helping those damn negroes" or something.
Load More Replies...SOME baby boomers. Certainly NOT all of us. The rest of us were marching against war, inequality, etc.
The desegregation of Little Rock Central High School (a good thing) started in 1957 when the oldest Baby Boomers were eleven years old. No one in the photo above is a Baby Boomer.
And I was thinking 1965, which would make him too young. Either way, he's probably too ornery to be in a home.
Load More Replies...I like how there is always someone blaming the jews. In this case, communist jews are behind the race mixing. --_--
And in case other people couldn't read it, i was merely making an observation on how white supremacists like to blame jew for everything. please note the squinty face of frustration
Load More Replies...You are confusing white people with boomers. White people love to complain about progress. Your also confusing unmitigated racism with triggered feelings. We never complained so vehemently of our elders.
What you just said is absolutely racist. You literally said white people love to complain. Some do, I'm sure some black people do too. Not all, that'd be like saying ALL Black people play basketball. Some do, not all. You're racist.
Load More Replies...Baby Boomers were the generation that left home to change the world. Millennials do it from their parent's house
Baby boomers had everything handed to them. The cost of living was nothing. Boomers messed up the world and made it so its damn impossible to leave home.
Load More Replies...Any baby boomer making fun of ripped jeans is a hypocrite. My dad used to make fun of hippies (although he agreed with their politics) because they claimed to want to be individuals, but then they dressed all alike. Many who had plenty of money wore raggy jeans that dragged on the ground. I remember because I LOVED those jeans.
To be fair, it is ridiculous to buy expensive jeans that have pre-made holes in them. Also, so not in the same category as the ozone layer.
Sure, but at least our generation chose the jeans holes.
Load More Replies...Not kidding, heard this joke in about 1992 (when ripped jeans had reached saturation point)…. And we had hand pump aerosol cans to reduce CFC’s…. Remember CFCs!?!?
Yeah, no, it was my grandkids in their big cars and airline flights that ripped the ozone hole. Wasn't that big when I was your age.
Millennials are doing better? Everytime you get the whim to buy something it's delivered to your door the next day in a big a*s truck. You must have the latest iPhone within the same month it's released, regardless of how many Chineese workers commit suiside due to your demands.
well i mean most millennials don’t buy the latest iPhone bc they’re all depressed and earning less than a livable wage 🤷🏻♀️
Load More Replies...Not all baby boomers are like this. You can't clump an entire generation together like that. There are going to be homosexual, black, etc. people who weren't like what you are describing. I agree that a lot of people are racist in that generation, but that doesn't mean every last one.
And yet Millenials all get clumped together and if we say thats not OK we're just whining? Its an issue with both generations.
Load More Replies...Way to paint an entire generation with one brush. Kind of like you say we are doing, right?
Wow, you are the generation of the biggest babies ever, go cry in a safe space for f***s sake. Every generation has problems, you people cant even figure out what you are let alone anything else, all you do is b***h and b***h. What do you think your children are going to say to you, when they are older and see that you have done nothing to improve this country.
Millenials are about 38 now, so theres none of them running for president or anything. There are plenty of protests about the enviornment and they are trying to get things done. Things like that dont happen overnight. You just dont pay attention.

Irrational fear of starvation. May not have had a lot of food in the house when they were growing up.
also, some people who grew up poor but went to school with others their age from wealthy families may have missed their chance to try certain foods growing up that they saw the others enjoying, and take advantage of any opportunity they can get to try it once they have their own money to spend

I am 32 and I have never had a permanent job even though I spent over 5 years to get an education to become a chef. Because you can't work in a kitchen here in Finland if you don't have the chef's education. Then I watch a TV docomentaries about famous chefs and they tell how they started working at a kitchen when they were 13 years old and they did non stop chef's job over 50 years and now they are millionaires and they have many Michelin stars and restaurants all over the world...I just struggle with the unemployment benefits money (500-700 € per month).
Come to Germany, Restaurants here have serious problems finding young cooks. ;-)
Load More Replies...The worst thing is the people who bought cheap ex council houses and then sold them for 30x what they paid and then killed the market for everyone else as well as decimating affordable social housing...
My best freind is 24 and he owns a house and a new car. Do you know why? Because he went to school for engineering, although it could have been any number of feilds. Why can't many of you afford a house? Because you studied something that wouldn't pay the bills and decided to work at a coffee shop instead of getting a real job.
How the hell I've posted 3 times I don’t know!! Hit post once in reply to bored fox!!
I don't think it was THAT easy. I don't think it was EVER that easy unless you had some rich parents.
Blame the Republicans who never want to raise min. wage and destroyed the middle class. We are suffering too.
And they were buying houses with three 10 foot by 10 foot bedrooms (one for the parents, one for all the boys, and one for all the girls), 1 small bathroom, a tiny kitchen, a carport (if you were lucky) and formica countertops. Not the HGTV homes you all seem to feel you must have now. And minimum wage was never meant to be a living wage, jobs that pay minimum wage are starter jobs and the fact that the pay sucks is supposed to be incentive to improve yourself and move into a better job. Everyone has had to work hard, now it's just your generation's turn. Yes, I agree you are subject to a lot of unjust labeling as lazy and privileged, but I also hear a lot of statements that scream that you have no idea of what real life is. It's hard for almost everyone. Welcome to the work force.
Minimum wage was never meant to be a living wage? That's... Literally what it is, though? The minimum amount of living wage to support a family of four comfortably. They would be able to afford food, housing, utilities, and healthcare on that wage. THAT is what minimum wage is supposed to be. Do your research.

Maybe because my careers were relatively unimportant, taking care of the gravely ill as a nurse in critical care units and saving lives with a team of firefighter/medics. And now it looks like I could lose my pension because I was paid too much or we're making Murica great or who knows? I do not blame boomers or Gen Xers or Gen Yers or millennials. I just wonder how much longer are we going to fight each other because of false distinctions such as age or race or nationality and get wise to the fact that 1% of the population is screwing everybody else. OTOH I have a great deal of hope in the millennials - I think they are seeing through this charade. When you young people take to the streets I will be there with you as I was in the streets in the 60s protesting war and racism. Stay awake and alert and considerate as most of you already are!
Mick, you sound like a person who has made a difference in this world. You deserve to be proud of who you are. $ is not everything in this world. But, then, you already know that. :)

in our growing up we had the beginning of these big old honkin computers...we were just being exposed to computers
It's difficult to make a living and support yourself. A young family basically needs 2 salaries.
Between a mortgage and daycare there is no way we could do it on one salary.
Load More Replies...It's funny, many of the people coming here from other countries are doing just fine in this economy. I think it might be their work ethic. Yep. I lived with my parents up until I got married at age 26 last year. And I was NOT unemployed! It's not even considered that weird anymore to be living with your parents in your twenties. Cuz everyone gets why you are.
HELLO? Boomers are the Free Love Generation! They were sleeping around left and right.
i can't wait to see them all die off well that's just heartless and cruel
Welfare: a scheme by lefties to lure black people to concentration camps, called projects, where they will be surrounded by abortion clinics (ovens). Then disallow the fathers the ability to live in that housing with their own kids (fatherless). Also, to pay them to not work and therefore have low skills (wage gap). That was the plan of the new deal welfare state. Democrats were the slave owners and continue to do their work, even today.
millennials do things from a different perspective and reasoning if they'd share their thots and perspectives on life-we cld hav sum communication
Well the divorce culture only became a thing because divorce becane easier to aquire and those who were not able to get one were finally able to do so. Adam Ruins Everything did so much on that part. http://www.trutv.com/shows/adam-ruins-everything/blog/adams-sources/adam-ruins-weddings.html
Don't tar everyone with your brush - there are a lot of millennials that worked hard for the environment, for racial equality, etc. I and my parents paid for college - yes, it was far cheaper, but I was one of six kids. And I NEVER voted for Reagan - he was the devil incarnate and started all of the problems that conservatives are so fond of.
They didn't go to school for free either though. Drastically lower costs, sure. But not free.
I'm 15 and facing the same problem. Getting amused looks by my grandmother and co-students for saying that if I don't accomplish my goal to get a job in field zoology, I would be comfortable becoming an English-Bulgarian translator of scientific books. What the hell is wrong with them? I'm just trying to be innovative and different. I'm looking for any satisfactory(I refuse to work in an office. I'd rather be poorer, than a prisoner of a job I hate) career path possible, that would bring me modest but sufficient salary to live with, while they either struggle(the former one)or are completely dependent on technology(the second ones).
Hang in there! I'm an Easterner as well, we are all supposed to go into business management. I wanted to be a vet. Pretty much everyone took the p**s out of me for it, especially my family. It took a near 3000Km move, so I can get away from all the crazy, but now I'm getting there. ;)
Load More Replies...That's true. You needed go into trade schools or if you did go to college, take something that pays. We didn't pay for either of our kids schooling, but both of them are home owners in good neighborhoods.
I agree. All i wanna do is be an animator, but my parents tell me to pursue cyber security, or they wont even help to pay for college (or cosign a loan, and no else will do that, and my parents make too much to get financial aid) and theyll give the college fund money to my brother. So theyve forced me into this career just because it makes more money. They laughed in my face and told me that i wouldnt make it, so im gonna figure it out and pay my own way thru college, and start my own animation studio.
i grew up knowing we had to go to college or votech. we cld make lots of money
i agree. my girls r qwik to point out anything i do that isnt "cool". im so dumb so whrre do millennials get off telling boomers the ways we hav r stupid dumb and they aint gonna do it.
That is a tactic explained in retirees handbooks everywhere on how to stretch the retirement fund.
I started adding spit to baby boomer food when i worked in restaurants and they took that attitude with me #dontfuckwiththepeoplewhohandleyourfood
I would say that Trevor can design his Twitter account however he wants, and it wouldn't affect his IQ level or his importance in the world. It's really none of your business to dictate how he wants his Twitter name to look. If he wanted to write "Cheese Butterflies" as his Twitter name, he could and it wouldn't be of any importance. There is no reason to complain about something you have no right to complain about or can change.

Whaaat?!? these old farts cant take a step without taking thousands picture and sending “spamming” all over the place
I just want to point out that with the term “old fart” you aren’t making fun of the issues baby boomers have caused, you are making fun of age.

I assume since this is about Baby boomers, it's a the latter. but still. I get it though, i'm also over satire artists blaming technology.
I'm sure some do, but a lot use them to connect also. I live far from where I grew up, and also have friends overseas from traveling in college. Load More Replies...What's really ironic is that the Baby Boomers were raised by what they call The Greatest Generation. So you would think that they would be raised well. Here is the thing. The Greatest Generation lived through a lot. The Depression, WWII, etc. So when they had kids, they didn't want them to suffer in the way that they themselves did. So therefore, they babied them. They made sure they had good lives. Which is fine and all. But it made them grow up to be spoiled brats that ruined the economy.
Whoo! Being Gen X rocks! Never get blamed! (Unless this millennial just has old parents)
Y'all know there are 2 generations between baby boomers and millennials right? I mean my age group is Gen X, then there is the forgotten Gen Y. My parents are baby boomers, if I had children they would be millennials. My siblings (except the 2 youngest) are Gen Y. I agree with one thing though, whoever raised this generation of whiny, entitled little pricks who cannot go one day without crying that they have to earn what they want truly are the worst parents ever.
Generation Y was a popular term given to millennials before there was an actual name for the generation, so there's only one generation in between Baby Boomers and Millennials. Since the millennial generation encompasses people from the early 80's to today there is a wide range, some having baby boomer parents and some having generation x parents.

I think the baby boomers are all braindamaged because their mothers were anesthetized during labor. They were all heavily drugged at birth. And the Moms had a hard time recovering from it. Very unnatural experience. And around those times, a lot of parents were influenced by some guy who basically said your job was to feed and cloth your kids, not be any more involved than that or show them affection (or teach them anything). It completely messed up my two oldest sisters (now around 65 and 67).
mmmmm do a little more math there. Baby boomers are your great grandparents today.
I see this as something good. We are slowly eliminating the problems in society, starting from the most pressing. Now that they got equal rights for men and women, we can focus on something else, like gay rights. Yes, the discrimination of the LGBTQ community is a lesser problem than the descrimination of women was. But thats Good! That's progress! Why should we stop trying to help and fix, just because the problems aren't as big any more?
So true! I hope to live the day when LGBTQ+ are fully accepted. Everyone has a right to be accepted and I will not let people say I can't be a non-binary (even though I was born female) person who is a panromantic asexual. I'm proud to have a girlfriend and I'm not ashamed to hide myself. (I'm going to downvote my comment just so yours can be on top.)

Okaaay... this one is about bigotry. My parents are baby boomers, and not one bit of this describes them. No serious my parents are c***s, and if the current proposals for a book/film on my life materialise, it won’t matter that they’ve written me out of their will, as the £500,000 is the lowest offer I’ve had (which is what l would have got from them, precunt era).
If we do not want to be stereotyped, we should not stereotype others.
Another thing: why atheist instantly translate into "evil" and "satanists" in most prople minds? Its rude and illogical.
If you hadn't heard, the blacks in busses and in diners was solved by baby boomers. Also, I don't think many people had issue with Obama being black, it was his politics. The rest is bull too. You can say happy holidays to me and I'll say merry Christmas to you. As for hitting their children, yes I agree with the practice. As for mental institutions, there would be somewhere to put future school shooters before the decide on their own to come off their meds and kill kill kill.
I remember when my mom always commented on me like "Why do you have to share your entire life on FB etc.?!?!" Today, I am happy if I do not wake up to a notification that my mom uploaded 456.405 pictures to the new album called "Sunday morning walk around the lake" or stuff like that... I see double standards coming in ;)
For real. I was getting my hair done recently and an old lady needed help with photos on her phone (I forget what specifically). I offered to help, look at her phone and she no joke had over 14,000 photos on it.

You can have gay marriage, but you'll never have holy matrimony. It will always be unholy.
I am pretty damned sure that the tiny percentage of people who promoted free love at the time are generally not the ones who are now opposing gay marriage. Different set of people. The generation is not a hive mind.
Oooh a platform! What about the transistor, the microchip, the cell phone, the smartphone, Microsoft, and freedom?
I remember once I bought this big piece of cork bark for my lizard (I buy it cause that way it comes clean the stores have bigger, thicker pieces) and my mum says to me "why don't you just go outside and get a piece of bark for free?" Like okay mom, you're the one who had a pet rock, why didn't you just go outside and get a rock for free?
no they r not. differeny gens r gonna invent diff things. thats just how life is
I think that is what the inventor of the pet rock said when he created it. Except he used the word "People" instead of "millennials".
Really? The reason so many millenials see the financial situation as being so bad is their fascination with useless college degrees. Both my kids are millenials and we didn't pay for there schooling, but the both own homes in middle class areas and my daughter just had a new house built. It's called hard work and smart decisions. Them and all their friends that didn't study lesbian dance theory or astrology are doing fine.
Good one! I don't buy the ones about all baby boomers being racists, but the voters were partially responsible for this. Nowadays, we really hardly even have fair elections. It's a ruse. (We have a "guided democray" now). We better vote out the corrupt very soon, or it will be too late. But my generation and the baby boomers are to blame for this current state of affairs. Maybe only 1/20 people I have met my age or older ever gave flying f**k about current events, politics, US policy, climate change, none of it. They let this happen. We let this happen. I agree. (I am 50.)
Most of these fall under that category. The more of them I read, the more mean spirited they get. Feels like witnessing a personal family fight. I don't like it.

Load More Replies...I’m so glad the UK pays a decent minimum wage and tipping is rarely expected or needed.
Tips 10$ every time (which also indicates he/she is regular at restaurants). Wonder why does he/she struggles to pay his/her bill...
Even while poor you have to learn to exist and enjoy your life a bit, or does the status of poor mean you must act poor. Wealth status doesn't dictate human decency.
Load More Replies...Tipping began way back in the 1600s England in bars to encourage the bar maids to bring drinks quickly. Nothing more, nothing less. It grew from there. Many countries see it as an insult to the host (owner), like they can't afford to pay their staff enough. I tip all service people because the practice of tipping isn't going anywhere anytime soon and wages are cut to below a living wage BECAUSE tipping is so expected. My shorting someone to make a stand on the issue does nothing but hurt the service person at this point in time. I see tipping as a way to reward anyone who assists me in any capacity if their customer service is above and beyond, so merely expected service gets a smaller amount than someone who really went out of their way to make my experience outstanding. And I've tipped many MANY types of service people, not just restaurant staff.
servers should be paid living wages by default and tipped based on exceptional service. it still gives them an incentive to do a good job. we don't under pay hairdressers, or dog groomers, but still often tip them for a job well done. why are servers treated differently?
Yes, see above regarding the ME generation. That was a thing when the boomers were younger, and they HATED it. Now too many of them are just hypocrites. I guess that's why Mother Nature or God or whomever decided to kill off the old folks so they don't slow down progress. We'd still be living in caves if the older folks never died. They'd be saying, "I don't know why this cave isn't good enough for you young'uns!" And we let our kids run around with the wildlife, and we lost a few, but at least they weren't PUSSIES!"
Load More Replies...For the "Muricans" that "don't like to tip" the servers didn't decide they all wanted to be paid that way, it's been that way for years. So just tip your servers 20% of the total (15% if you don't think the service wasn't fair and 18% if the service was average.) and stop blaming them for a rule they have no control over.
It's not the server's fault that their employer can legally pay them a ridiculously low hourly wage.
I remember well how the Baby Boomers HATED being called the ME Generation. I don't hear that one these days.
Actually Millennials runs from early 1980s to mid 1990s, most of them would be generation z or after
I thought millennials were born in the new millenium, ergo millennials?
Load More Replies...When you're a millennial and don't know what a millennial is, not too many cats and dogs between the ages of 22-37. And you want 15hr for working at McDonalds, smh
Yes, but the baby boomers were one of the biggest generations to fully comprehend it, yet completely ignore it, making everything worse.
Load More Replies...Or we could call the Baby Boomers the "Burned our bra's for women's liberation and started the civil rights movement, protested our involvement in foreign wars, paid 22% interest on our mortgage, created rock n' roll, railed against the man, fought animal testing, and founded the EPA" generation.
Eugenics is something that millenials seem to love. Margret Sanger, who started Planned Parenthood was all about it. They certainly started and continue to surround predominantly black neighborhoods. The middle class still exists and makes up the majority of the population. Neither of my kids had lesbian dance theory or astrology as their major, so they are able to get good jobs and live in new houses. No, I didn't pay for their schooling and yes they are millenials. Millenials, who order everything online and expect it to be delivered the next day in really big trucks want to talk about climate change?
And for Millenials? We began an epidemic of carpel tunnel, neck problems, and eye disease from phones.
God, it's always about the fecking phones with you people.

Yep. My house was built in 1923. The people who last owned it were older had HORRIBLE taste. Ugly, dark brown, cheap paneling in every room. Nasty brown carpet. Crappy beige and green tile in the kitchen. Yeah so we pulled out the carpet in the living room. Pulled up a layer of plywood underneath that. Found original floors from 1923. Sanded them down. Stained them. Now we have the original floor and it's rugged and beautiful.
I'd love to see your house. Almost a century old. It has history.

Usually people who say "*Name of a social problem* doesn't exist" are people who are a actually part "Mafia isn't a thing, holocaust is not a thing" "Most stories about racism are hoaxes" Like round Earth? They are hoaxes? "I've know gay and trans people all my life, I just don't kiss their asses" First, looks suspicious but might be true, second, how does the fact that you have KNOWN* gay and trans people deny homophobia's existence? Besides "knowing them" doesn't mean "respect them" But no, Boomers are Heroes, they can't be wrong. "Unequal input, unequal output" Many people want to work, but the pays are lower and the prices higher. But nooo we're just lazy, it's not you that you don't want to understand us noooo. Just think that life is the f*****g same for everyone. "If we had time to explain, I could explain it pretty well" How come you have no time to explain? You're using the same time to deny realities

I'm also a millennial who knows cursive, reads books, and got an education. I'm 35 years old, and I lived on my own from 18-30. My 15 years experience in IT that initially paid $75/hr, now will only land me entry-level positions for under $20/hr thanks to most of the industry now being done remotely from India and the Philippines. The amazing women I've met in my life all leave when they begin to fall deeply in love, afraid of the commitment and failure that their divorced parents showed them. I've wanted to die almost every day of my life, but I carry on knowing that all those baby boomers will die first. Then maybe we'll have a chance to create a better world for our little brothers and sisters.

That's how they made so many babies. They were impatient to find the best child.
Or! Now that we got chip cards, stare at the pin pad for seconds and then look at you and go "do I swipe?" When you say "no, put the chip in," they go "I can't use a card?"
you move like slugs, pick up the pace we are on our lunch hours, still making the same wage as 20 yrs ago. we would move out of our houses but our stagnant wages keep us in our beginner homes. you are talking about the wrong generation. its the lucky ones who could save and take vacations and buy nice stuff. not baby boomers
It MIGHT work to put the chip in before I'm done, maybe, our system is wonky so sometimes it doesn't. But dear lord wait for me to tell you your total if you have a swipe card, it isn't going to register until I have AT LEAST hit the total button. Honestly still might not work if I haven't hit the credit card button yet. That's a bit wonky too.
Their generation protested nam, so it wasn't that one. But thegulf war, the Iraqi was, and the Afghanistan war are all on them

I always tip more than that, especially for a haircut. So the cut costs $12, figure the stylist can do 3 per hour (if they are always busy), bringing an income of $36/hr. That sounds pretty good until you realize that they have to rent the chair, pay for their own equipment and supplies, they have to spend more time & money on their own appearance (because who wants a haircut from someone who isn't put-together enough to do their own hair nicely). In my area, a stylist actually gets a check for around $9/hr BEFORE TAXES. I know my stylist just had a baby because she kept getting more and more pregnant until she suddenly got less pregnant, and that is sure as hell not cheap. I round to $20.
Omg !" Less pregnant". How do u become less pregnant.

You had the ability to buy a home on minimum wage, afford a college education, buy a car and hundreds of other luxuries that the huge majority of my generation can only dream of. One thing I find interesting is that research into the human brain has found that the structure and the way the brain thinks changes as you age. So it's almost hardwired for us to be more idealistic and black-or-white in our thinking when we are younger, and more flexible in our thinking, able to see multiple points to a situation, and more conservative as we age. Theories also propose that the accumulation of experience changes the thinking because it requires the brain to broaden it's thinking abilities, which changes the structures in the brain, too.
