The World Cup will have a new champion this year. South Korea has just knocked out the defending champ Germany out of the competition in a 2-0 match. This is the first time Germany has been eliminated in the first round of a World Cup since 1938, and the internet is making sure no one forgets it. Creating one hilarious meme after another, everyone is pouring salt onto the country's fresh wound. The saying, "the bigger they are the harder they fall" has never rung as true as it does today. I'm german and i think this is very funny. After seeing the scores from yesterday (not watching the game) all I could do is laugh, because I told my friends at the beginning of the World Cup that we will be out in the first round. XD

When Germany won 7x1 against Brazil last Cup, they made it a joke again when it turned 2017, with the German and Brazilian flags replacing the "1" and "7". This one is replacing the "2" and "0" with Korean and German flags to "celebrate" Korea eliminating Germany in the group phase yesterday by 2x0. Brazil will take what it can get (Brazilian here)

Yeah, they're happy just to be there, and that they got at least one goal in. Completely different expectations. Also why German fans cried when Germany was eliminated, but Serbia's players and fans were just like "well, good game, at least we tried"

Icelandic phone directories are listed in first name order, followed by surname, occupation and address. Surnames are rarely used even in formal situations in Iceland, because they aren't "family names" but patronyms. If I were Icelandic, my surname would be Edgarson, my sisters surnames would be Edgarsdottir, and my son's surname would be Ludwigson.

Okay...iam Hjördìs Aradòttir, meaning I am the daughter of my father who's name is Ari. My brother is Albert Arason, meaning he is the son of my/his father Ari. Its like when in whatevercountry, people get their fathers surname but here in Iceland we get our fathers forname.

Nah, I live as an economic (UK) migrant in Germany and have been plenty critical of the flag-waving nationalist elements using football as an excuse, and am very glad the far-right in Germany is crying now, but it is NOT fair to compare the German team (composed partly of people with immigration to Germany in their recent family history) to actual Nazi soldiers and officers. The problem with the right-wing in Germany is of TODAY.
