The internet seems to have an obsession with all things “cursed”: photos, foods and of course, comments. The Cursed Comments subreddit has only been around since April 2018, but it’s already amassed an impressive 3.3 million members, or “cursed individuals” as they refer to themselves. The community has been deemed the “worst subreddit” by Youtuber Pewdiepie, a badge they wear proudly, and their ‘about community’ section states that the group is for “comments that strike the reader into oblivion.”
“Upon seeing a cursed comment, your first reaction should be along the lines of ‘What the F$k did I just read??’ while leaving you speechless at the same time,” the about section goes on to explain. “Incomprehension of the comment just read, or the blatant gruesomeness of it should be enough to not only make you feel mystified but also to draw a smile on your face.” So no, pandas, you might not understand or agree with how all of the comments on this list came to be, but we hope they cause some sort of emotional reaction within you. And without further ado, we present the cursed comments!

Years ago me and my ex stayed at her mums house while she was away. My ex went to work and I was at the house. I tripped over a box that was sticking out the bottom of the bed. My sister's husband was part of a surveying team. They were surveying a plot of land near an ostrich farm. One male was dancing and showing feathers in front of her husband's partner. Later when they were at my sister's place, they brought up the story talking about the "weird" ostrich. My sister couldn't stop laughing as she was trying to explain that the ostrich had taken a liking to her husband's partner and was doing a mating dance. The partner must have had some real animal magnetism because horses also seemed to like him a lot.
This wild subreddit doesn’t have too many rules, as cursed comments can encompass a wide variety of content, but they do have a few guidelines to keep the community in check. First of all, reposts and duplicates will be removed. “Try your best to post new content, and be understanding if someone beat you to it,” the moderators write. Copypasta cursed comments are also banned, as they like to limit the posts in the sub to original content. If any cursed comments are NSFW, they must be appropriately marked as so, and the moderators note that members must refrain from being jerks. Bigotry such as racism, homophobia, transphobia and misogyny are not welcome here. This community may be cursed, but it’s not cruel.
There are also a few accounts who post “staged” cursed comments that are banned. These cursed comments shouldn’t come from anyone looking for shock value; they should be unexpected and spontaneous. You can’t share you own cursed comments in the sub, and the comments must fall under the “cursed” guidelines set by the mods. Deepfried memes are also not welcome in this community, and all posts must begin with the word “Cursed”.

I think it's probably a stain. They wouldn't be able to hold their hand in a thumbs up position if the circulation was cut off that bad and it would be more swollen, as well as probably a more splotchy and less even color. I think the rubber bands are real but haven't been on long and the person has stained their hand.

Lucky for us, Bored Panda has previously been able to get in touch with some of the moderators of Cursed Comments, who were kind enough to shine some light on how this subreddit began in the first place. Back in 2020, we had a chat with the creator of the subreddit, who shared, "I founded the subreddit a while back. I actually was going through some memes posted on Reddit and saw a response to a somewhat... ‘fitting’ comment that would be right at home with CursedComments. In a response to the comment, someone joking posted r/CursedComments. I was intrigued and when I clicked on it, the subreddit didn’t exist, so I created it because I thought it was super good."

We used to have some "hold my beer" neighbors in the tiny suburb we used to live in. There was the older couple who owned the house, a couple of their adult children and their kids, and a couple of their other adult kids were over all the time. They had a great driveway that went into a large parking area in the back and they were always working on trucks and ATVs back there or listening to music and talking to loud, always while drinking. Ambulances would show up every other week. I was amazed the time when then went a whole month without doing something stupid.
The founder went on to tell Bored Panda that they wish they had been clever enough to come up with the name for the community, but once it was created, their only focus was making it a “great experience” for everyone involved. It was first “a sort of ‘self-test’ for breaking into the online space,” they explained. “I began posting [comments] and was loose with the rules to engage content creation and made sure to comment on every post to maximize community engagement.”

My husbands uncle lives with us. He has dementia. All he does is go outside to smoke and refill/pour out his coffee. Rarely drinks it. When he sees his cup he assumes it is old and it is annoying but whatever. The things that gets me is he hides his cigarettes.(he is one of two "crazy uncles" that lived together their whole life, never married, never really had a home until he came and lived with us) anyway he is the only person in the house that smokes. He hides them in his pillow, in his socks, waistband, trees, we have a car that does not run well and he is always digging in its looking for them. I finally locked it a week ago. He did not like that.

If it's a condition that usually occurs in old age, they might not know it runs in the family until after they have had kids. And some forms of dementia are not genetic. My grandmother on my mother's side had dementia due to "hardening of the arteries" and my understanding is that is due to lifestyle factors. My mother did not get that. However, in general I agree with you. One reason I never had children is because I have a genetic disease that I did not want to pass on.

I think they didn't design & built this statue of Cinderella correctly. Wait... what does Tamiflu have to do with vaccines? And how is a child's death a foreseeable comeuppance for avoiding a drug that is used only for the first two days after exposure? I mean God I hate the false information pumped out by people opposed to traditional vaccines, but this just seems like someone showhorned a tragic event into something it was not. Here's a kicker: Tamiflu is contraindicated for people who have already received vaccines.

Anti-vaxxers are sometimes Covid-deniers as well, and/or anti-“Big Pharma”, so some of them are against medicines as well as being against vaccines. I’m not sure if the kid had Covid or just a regular flu. We also don’t know the story, it’s possible the doctors advised Tamiflu WITHIN the first two days of his symptoms and the mom said no, so the kid’s flu worsened, etc. It’s also possible that the anti-vaxxers told the mom not to take the kid to the hospital etc., as some anti-vaxxers are anti-hospital too :( I think you’re correct that a lack of Tamiflu didn’t LEAD to the kid’s death, but IMO there’s more to the story than a one-sentence Reddit post.

Tamiflu is not in the same group as vaccines. It's entire purpose is to reduce the duration of the flu(an average of 2 to 3 days shorter), not prevent it. It isn't a life saving medicine. It also can have side effects that make you wonder is it worth getting over this 2 days earlier. I would be stunned to find out not taking Tamiflu is what killed the child, more likely it was complications with the flu. It does kill perfectly healthy people every year after all

I feel bad for the kids but if the children are going to grow up to think and act like the parents... I call that natural selection. If someone's stupidity kills one of their children they should be prevented from ever having anymore children.

...Tamiflu, if given within 48 hours of showing flu symptoms, only shortens the duration of the flu by an average of ONE DAY. Many doctors and researcher actually think it's not nearly as effective as our culture says it is. Not taking Tamiflu would NOT kill somebody with a flu.

Not an antivaxxer by any stretch but my 3 year old had tamiflu this year and had really bad psych issues on it ( literally nothing prior). She did not know my wife or myself, couldn’t tell us her name and was visibly upset by how confused she was. Took her to the ER, she projectile vomited then passed out and was choking on it, The ER dr said they get a couple kids a week during flu season that react like that to it. Also told me if taken at the right time it only stops symptoms 16 hours sooner. With antivirals do your homework.

I’ll get your back on this. It’s an antiviral which is somewhat theoretical at this point. Because as we know, antivirals are NOT antibiotics or antimacrobials and certainly not vaccines. It’s not even fair to compare an antiviral to any of these as the mechanism works differently and does so individually. It can be used as a prophylactic for anyone at risk, but does have some nasty side effects often worse than the flu itself. However, if a child like in this post had a or existing condition, it could be worth those side effects. Even lifesaving. But for a normally healthy child with n the first 48 hours of exposure, it’s a c**p shoot. Go to any WedMD/Mayo:NHI type website you prefer to learn what Tamaflu is, who it was meant for and how reliable it is. It’s a treatment that may be a holy grail for someone with a compromised immune system, but can come at a price.

Maybe, and hear me out, maybe boyfriend doesn't care much for the PS5 but desperately wants to be a dad so at first he thinks he's getting a just-okay gift then it turns out to be the best thing ever. I'm feeling optimistic today so I'm gonna stick with this version. So interesting that most of the comments assume a pregnancy would be unwelcome news and a PS5 would be preferred.

Unfortunately it's much worse than a hobby, it's an identity - one that started among former slave owners who survived the Civil War and then faced the prospect of their former slaves not just entering govt but potentially dominating it by force of numbers and extracting reparations. The abandonment of Reconstruction and mass rearming of white Southerners is what enabled whites to reimpose another century of Apartheid. And a heck of a lot of the most fervent gun owners today are the same that wave the Stars and Bars screaming that the Civil War was about "States' Rights" or was "the war of northern aggression". It's not a coincidence, it's been studied. All across the country, the more white people in a given location have family or ancestral ties to the former confederacy, the stronger local support is for individual gun ownership. These are historically privileged people who live in perpetual fear of retaliation if they are ever outnumbered or outgunned.

Cost of banning assault guns from private ownership - literally none. Cost of "shotprofing" schools - well, we will have to raise some taxes or move those funds from other service, but it's sacrifice we are willing to do to protect our schools.

I'm vegan and I hate people like this! No one is going to stop consuming milk/eggs/meat just because someone is blocking them. You can't force someone to change their diets simply because you don't approve. All these people are doing is feeding the ongoing stereotypes that vegans are insane. Very similar to religious nutters who think they can scare you into believing in God, so you don't go to hell 🙄

If I need3d milk or half and half for my coffee I would politely say excuse me, and reach for what I needed. The first hand put on me would result in a very LOUD scream of rape! And see what happens. When I was about 15 I was asleep and awoke to my brother's hamster walking across my face.I sat up so fast that he catapulted across the room and hit the door then skidded along the wooden floor upside down,no longer of this world.I felt terrible! We had a funeral for him and played "Flying without Wings" in memory of his untimely end. R.I.P Fudge.

My mom used to collect flags from our international friends from around the world, and she would hang them along the front of our house. The fam is from Italy, so we had an Italian flag. We hosted multiple exchange students from Japan, so we had a Japanese flag. And we have friends from Germany, so we had a German flag. We also had others, but they were put up after those three... Until a very understanding WWII veteran knocked on the door and asked us if there was any particular reason why we hung the Axis powers together. My mom was so embarrassed; we were up moving the flags around later that day.

My stepmom had a friend that contacted a famous cookie company asking for their recipe (I don't remember which one, but similar to a Mrs. Fields type company). They told her "no problem" we'll send it out (this was back when there was mail), but when they sent it, they sent it POD for $250, and never even let her know that was going to happen. So I'm exchange, she started sharing the recipe with everyone that wanted it, might want it or even just ate cookies

On national wide drug and alcohol usage questionnaire for seniors in elementary school, at age of 15-16, one boy replied “yes” to question about intravenous drug use (he lied: nobody had never seen any drugs, not even pot, back then).
