There's millions of comics that illustrate happy moments of love, the gripes of day-to-day, slices of life, and generally wholesome themes. But there are very few that are as bizarre, random, ridiculously funny, and completely authentic as the ones that Alex Gamsu Jenkins makes. The stuff that he comes up with is so original that it can't be mistaken for anyone else's.
It's very hard to describe his works: not because there aren't any words that could, but because after seeing them, one is left speechless. But let's try. Messed up comes to mind. Fouled up beyond all recognition. Bizarre, strange, creepy, sometimes even horrifying, nightmare fuel, as it were. But they're strangely attractive, and even make one genuinely laugh.

Even though Alex's comics seem random and all over the place, they're actually not, as they have a few underlying themes and narratives. One of them is satire, which is, in other words, a mockery and ridicule of certain things that our society does. His satire indirectly but not-so-subtly accurately criticizes our society's norms, views, and ways of living. Don't believe it? Take a look at some of these comics where consumerism is involved.
The London-based artist has been drawing ever since he was a kid, and loved immersing himself in it. After getting a bad grade in an A-level arts class, he lost his interest and had a long hiatus. He returned to visual arts in his twenties, as he realized it's his true passion, and he got an illustration degree at Camberwell. Even though he had a rough start, Alex Gamsu Jenkins built a momentum and is now considered a great freelance artist.
His professional works have been featured in BBC, New York Times, Vice, Hustler, Lucky Peach, and other prominent outlets. He even did work for Vans, and his comics have been featured on Adult Swim. Alex has also been enjoying relative social media success, too. His Instagram has 589k followers, with hundreds of thousands across other social media platforms as well.
