23 New “How To Cat” Comics By This Artist That Showcase The Joys And The Challenges Of Being A Cat Parent
Anyone who shares a home with a cat knows the house rules are refreshingly simple: the cat writes them, and everyone else obeys. Perfectly good food gets rejected, keyboards become beds, and urgent demands for attention arrive at exactly the wrong moment. Somehow, we still find them irresistibly adorable.
San Diego cartoonist Lucas Turnbloom knows the drill better than most. In 2017, he and his wife adopted Sugar, a rescue cat who had been passed between several homes before landing in a shelter. It took her about a month to settle in, and then, as Turnbloom put it, “She would start doing strange things.” He began drawing comics about her antics simply to make his wife laugh, until she convinced him to share them online. The response was so strong that his series, How to Cat, became a regular feature on GoComics in 2019, with Sugar reimagined as Sweetie, a round little feline with an angelic face and a talent for chaos.
Whether she’s making a mess, testing her human’s patience or plotting new ways to get exactly what she wants, Sweetie always seems to have the upper paw. Scroll down to see the latest comics, and tell us in the comments which one reminds you most of your own furry troublemaker.

Cat hairs are like glitter, once they have entered the house they will never truly leave, and it's wonderful.
For a very, very long time I could only take nose close-ups of my cats! Nowadays, I plan better and move faster ;)
So we rented a house next door to our landlord (I know, stupid). One day their cat comes into the garden and climbs the apple tree, and gets stuck. I'm sitting out, so keep an eye on the cat. Enter landlord "have you seen our kitten?" I point upwards, where cat is now asleep in the tree. "Why didn't you call us? " Me; "He's fine, they usually come down when they're ready. Landlord; "My poor baby, he could fall, he's terrified." Me, on considering this *is* my landlord, fetches ladder and helps them rescue their 9month old, 9lb (4kg), sleeping cat, from a large sloping branch that is nearly 6' (2 metres) from the ground. Me also, sees huge smile of satisfaction on cat's face!
All of these are wonderful. Much insight into our kitties lives!
