The internet is full of animal comics, with cats and dogs, of course, dominating the scene (as they do). But birds don't often get the spotlight to preen their beautiful feathers in ink or paint. Well, Potatopato comics are here to fix this issue.
The artist, Cynthia, chose her own pet, a cockatiel named Buddy, as the focus of the comics. With playful, positive scenarios, she portrays what it feels like to have a parrot as a pet and showcases the joys and struggles of living with Buddy.
The artist's inspiration came from real life. "They are largely real incidents, based either on Buddy himself or experiences I've had with other birds in my life," Cynthia told Bored Panda.
With quite a following, the artist revealed that the reaction is overwhelmingly positive. "People tell me it helps them with depression and helps get them through bad days, and I'm grateful to be able to help" she said.

My parakeet likes to sleep inside my hoodies while I work at my computer. One hoodie has a beak sized hole; so I recorded a video of my parakeet sticking his beak out of the hoodie, shared it on tumblr... aaaand got flagged for explicit content ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

A Robin just had 4 babies hatch in an evergreen in my parents backyard and my mom now refers to them as her "little grand birds." They are so cute and fuzzy!!

Sun Conures don't sing at all. Just screams. So many screams. He makes quite a nice alarm clock though. At least he has the courtesy to wait until its day.

Yes I used to have a sun conure. He/she, Stuart, screamed all the time. Stuart liked men and hated kids. He would bite them and not let go. Little stinker. I miss him

T H I S. My Sun Conure LOVES fruit. But you have to eat it first. He will NOT touch that banana until you take a bite. Then he's all over it. It's like he wants to make sure I'm not poisoning him or something. When I was switching him over from bird seed to pellet food, all it took was a couple minute of me pretending to eat some, and suddenly he loved them too.

I don't understand how it's not gross to some people??? Like I get that you get used to it...I'm 100% used to cleaning up dog and cat poop and since I've had my dog since he was a puppy I'm used to gross puppy poop being everywhere...but to look at it and think..."eh I'll clean it up later" is such a foreign thought to me like my bf's mom has birds and she CONSTANTLY had bird poo all on her shirts....it seemed kinda gross but I may just not get it

It's just that birds poop ALL the time. If you get up every time a bird poops on you, it would be every ten minutes or so. I may just be lazy, but I prefer to keep reading my book and cleaning up later. Sometimes I wear a cloth on my shoulder so I can just shake it out later.

My love bird would sit on top of my laptop and watch me work, so I just put a towel down to catch the poops. Our system worked for us.

Sadly, my little sweetie can't fly. She pulled out the flight feathers on one wing and they stopped growing back. It's all good though. She gets around like a trooper!

Six people at the table starting to eat. Bird flies to my head, jumps to my shoulder and then to my plate of salad. Everyone watching. I start eating salad that bird has not touched. Bird eats then start walking toward the chicken and pulled off a small amount, ate that , everyone plus me just stares in wonderment. Siblings swear the bird will not touch their food, not to worry he is my bird. Bird goes back to salad dragging his tali in the gravy and swishes is across the table cloth as he struts toward the salad , Mom is not pleased. Sister starts laughing and the little brother starts. Dad says that I'm going to wash that table cloth by hand (I do) Then bird jumps up to my milk glass to get a drink. Or so everyone thought, he dips his beak in and the starts slinging milk every where getting himself soaked and everyone else. Dad has had it and so has mom. I'm in trouble and the bird is grounded to his cage during meals , got fresh milk and ate my dinner with a big smile.

Birds get what are called pin feathers, it’s just new feathers. They’re much harder and like the name suggests sharp when poked. But birds are quick to forged and always ready for a nap.

While attending grad school out of state I lived alone with my love bird so we were very well-bonded, but I'd come home for longer stretches of time during school breaks so of course I'd bring him with me to my parent's. Well, my dad has been an early riser all of life and made a habit of taking my lovie out of his cage and spending time with him every morning. Soon I had competition for my lovie's affection as he would love landing on my dad and just chilling with him. Picture a bald, bearded, 6ft, retired construction guy letting this little yellow bird climb all over him, nibbling as he goes. Needless to say, I didn't mind the competition at all.

My Dad had a pet Keet who ate breakfast with him; loved toast with jam, and perching on his glasses leaving little jam prints. My Dad was over 6' and was a "guy's guy", except when it came to Pete the Keet who had him trained.

I set down newspaper on the floor to collect the pellets and seeds that my bird flings. I swear, she aims for floor that hasn't been covered in newspaper.

I don't bother anymore. I had one of those seed guards on her cage, but it didn't help at all. She still found a way to shoot seeds across the room! She's my little mess maker, but I love her so much, I deal with it!

While these are funny pictures I can relate to as a bird owner, it unfortunately looks like she is keeping just a single bird. Parakeets are very sociable and no matter how much you love your pet, you can't stand in for an actual fellow bird as a mate - especially not if you are off to work for long hours every day. I wish more people would consider this when getting a pet bird. Many countries now require birds to be sold in pairs for this reason.
