Now that would be an interesting apocalyptic narrative for a work of fiction. Evolution creates a species that will grow superior to humans, meanwhile humans will slowly turn into "lower class" animals. Not making a statement with this one, btw. It would just be interesting to see how the writers would study this kind of decay through the experiences of both sides. And then the question about the whole environment and what consequences would it have and so on.

I like the ambiguity of this sequence. It's not only about imagination bringing you to places and into adventures, but it's also about science in general. You eventually have to report your findings, writing a book. Likewise, you may become a scientist yourself, inspired by knowledge you gained from books.
