Want to tell a little about the string of events that led me to create brooches made wooden dice and briefly about the process.
In fact, there is a huge thanks to my grandfather who started this process initially. The story dates back to my great-grandfather, who was a Cabinet-maker. But, nevertheless, jewellery has been doing great, all my friends and relatives have been gifted brooches burnt initials. So did the chic belt from a variety of drunk.
At first I also thought to burn the letters, but after getting the first batch of dice, I saw the owl. Understand what is simply wrong is a miracle of nature close by pyrography. And there was the first PU-to guard it from harm.
Now a little about the process. As grandfather and fisherman, often happens in nature, where among the fallen trees, branches after clearing finds interesting specimens. Some were directly in our garden.
So, the discovery is not yet ready to work, it needs to dry for 6-12 months (ideally). A little raw will — cracks can not be avoided.
After thorough drying, you need a branch cut on the die. Cutting die preferably without stops, turns smoother cut. And here comes the most exciting moment, you never know which picture will show the new branch. With the thrill of trying to see what nature you have presented this time.
And one final sanding. Manually polished to perfect smoothness. And only now can determine with a picture. Sometimes it’s a blank canvas on which you paint something from scratch. And sometimes…. Sometimes nature itself draws that you just emphasize. I love these dies, sit, twirl, consider, come to mind a variety of images and in the end take a brush and show natural hints.
