It’s So Cold In North America That Niagara Falls Is Frozen, And It Looks Like Something From Narnia
Niagara falls are a spectacular place to visit at any time of year, however in winter, especially seriously cold winters like North America is currently experiencing, they are truly a breathtaking sight.
While the bitter temperatures have caused chaos in some areas and affected the New Year’s plans of millions, one upside to the big chill is the raw beauty of nature. Many areas of the falls have frozen, forming huge, elaborately shaped ice formations dangling precariously on the rocks, giving the impression of a Narnia-like winter fantasy land.
You can scroll down below to check out some of the gorgeous pictures for yourself, they make you feel cold just looking at them!

The waves look beautiful ... It looks as if I've paused a video or something like that !
That isn't a real photo. If it is, there's been HOURs of PhotoShop spent on it
Watching this icy landscape I appreciate more the fact I'm at home, by the fire...
Don't know why you were down voted. Nothing wrong with being cozy.
Load More Replies...All of your photos are taken on the Canadian side of the border, yet your post mentioned only the USA.
The post mentions North America. North America is a continent, not a country (hence the inclusion of the word "north"). Both Canada and the United States are in North America. Chill.

The perfectly placed sun glint is was takes this picture from pretty to amazing.
I've seen Niagara Falls many times, but never like this! Congrats, on the shot!!
Yes, very true. Beautiful to see in pictures but bitter cold limits viewing time

So there`s lots of ice all around Niagara Falls - but I don`t believe the Falls themselves are frozen! THAT would have made the news! -- and it didn`t.
It a tourist walkway. This is where they wear raincoats and walk up stairs to see the falls closer in the summer. I'm 30 minutes from there.
It is hard to believe that what we now see is only part of what it once was.
Despite Aslan the Snow Queen freezes everything up again in hopes it will slow down Aslan.
You can still go in this building all winter Long but not outside of it
Does anyone know what kind of place/ building this is? Looks spectacular!
It's just another viewing platform. I believe you have to walk through a cave or something to get to it, and it is only open when the weather is warmer.

Whow! I went there in there in about 1974. It was one of the hottest summers they had and I was feeling faint and dehydrated even though I was drinking lots of water. What a difference.
Yes. Both Canada and the USA are part of North America.
Load More Replies...Which is fully part of North America! Hurray for the gorgeous Canadian side!
Load More Replies...Old pic. That Ferris wheel has been gone for a long long time. Maple leaf village was always fun
Nice to know! Canada and the US-- North American brothers!

You though getting your tongue stuck was bad... Now imagine your eyes!!!
Ooh there's the revolving restaurant at the top. That is a great experience!!
The photos are stunning but "there's ice around Niagara Falls" is very very different to "Niagara Falls are frozen"
some beautiful pics, but not one of the "frozen" falls.
Load More Replies...These falls are located on the Canadian-US border. The headline only mentions the US for some reason, even though it appears the bulk of the photos are taken from the Canadian side.
I think it's because saying that it is cold in Canada is not going to capture anybody's attention.
Load More Replies...Ugh God Elsa what did you do now? No, I did not even blink at this, having gone to college near Niagara. It's always frigging cold up there. Commencement on May 30th had to be canceled one year due to a sudden snowstorm, not kidding.
That didn't happen on May 30 in my lifetime but early April, sure.
Load More Replies...It was cold Sunday when I went there. I did not stay outdoors very long.
Load More Replies...So cool looking! And I had to put on another layer of clothing from just looking at these photos. :D
Absolutely breathtaking!! It really does look like a winter wonderland!!
Yes, the headline says "North America", so Canada and the US. For those bent out of shape about the waterfalls not being frozen, that has only happened once in recorded history and you obviously have no concept of what Niagara Falls is. However, the city both in the US and Canada is named...Niagara Falls (NY and Ontario) and both of them are pretty frozen from the mist of the falls. Hope this clears things up.
