Malaysian Artist Creates Fluffy Cats Using Just Ink And The Result Looks Hauntingly Beautiful

Artist Kamwei Fong painstakingly creates these textured, fluffy black cats, using only a fine-line pen. The intricate drawings, a series called The Furry Thing, are the gorgeous end product of a technique that requires a great deal of skill and patience.

“I draw them by shading with tons of tiny furs,” Kamwei told Bored Panda. “It is indeed a very time-consuming process. Small cat drawings like A3 could take a few days, big ones like 25×37 inches could take a few weeks.” The lines are varied in size and density to slowly build volume and texture, resulting in a ‘furry’ look.

The fluffy cats are crafted in such a way that each one displays a unique, playful personality, which is a testament to the skill of the Malaysian artist. Kamwei makes similar black and white drawings using the same technique to create a variety of animals, such as monkeys, puppies, and Bo the Goldfish, a minimalist and peace-evoking character through which Kamwei aims to “encourage and uplift people to become more optimistic about life.” He illustrates under the name ‘Bo & Friends’ and sells his beautiful drawings at his Etsy shop, they make fantastic gifts!

Looks just like my parents' super fluffy kitty. She's a bit of an airhead and has the tiniest mew whenever she wants to eat (often), but she's a big mellow poofy girl and everyone loves her.
