The “Fight The Patriarchy” Facebook Page Shares 50 Truthful Posts And Memes That Might Make You Laugh Then Cry
Equality, social justice—it’s 2022 and by now, many of us assume that it’d be common sense for more or less everyone to respect their fellow human beings, no matter their gender, race, or creed. However, the reality is very different. If you want justice, it’s a constant struggle, an uphill battle.
Despite progress having been made in the fight for gender equality in recent decades, sadly, there’s a lot of regression happening at the same time. Women’s rights aren’t as protected as they might seem. You only need to take a look at how Roe v. Wade was overturned in the United States to see that your rights are built on far shakier foundations than they would seem.
‘Fight the Patriarchy’ is a Facebook page that touches upon a wide variety of social issues, from sexism and misogyny to toxic masculinity and worker exploitation, and more. We’ve collected some of their most powerful feminist posts to share with you, Pandas. Scroll down and share your thoughts about these issues in the comments. Let us know what you care about the most, what you’re doing to make the world a better place, and what you think needs to happen in the world for there to be more justice.
A representative of 'Fight the Patriarchy' told Bored Panda that the page was started a few years ago "to help my fellow leftist intersectional feminists realize they can support preborn rights alongside the rights of everyone else. We don't have to choose, we can fight against all oppression."
Meanwhile, writer Ariane Sherine was kind enough to share her thoughts about sexism, social justice, and gender equality with Bored Panda. In her opinion, it's the fear of women's power and a resentment that they're growing stronger that lie at the core of sexism and misogyny. "It's not as easy to subjugate us anymore. Of course, men still hold most of the power and wield male privilege, but they're being held to account more and more, and many of them aren't happy about this at all," she said.

Me, an Asexual: "Have you heard the Good News about garlic bread?"
If all a dad is doing is focusing on the mom to "take care of her" then is he really taking care of her and the baby? *rhetorical*. Hormones are raging even after birth, and we're f*****g exhausted. Please change the diaper, let us pump out a nights worth of milk, console the crying, rock the baby while we have a nights sleep. It shouldn't be asking for so much. It should be a vital given so we're not endangering the baby and ourselves with extreme fatigue from sleep deprivation. forced sleep deprivation is actually a from of torture. It wasn't 1 person who made a baby. It was 2. It takes 2 people to raise a child healthily. It's not "just for moms", "women's work", "girl stuff". It's parents stuff, and parents includes dads.
I so wish she was this powerful. Having a healthy population does wonders for a country, as well as the individuals.
I watch an awful lot of true crime and the sheer number of murders which happened because some pathetic a*****e couldn't handle being told no is f*****g insane.
There was a male at my school who came in wearing a shirt that said "Guinness." as is the beer. Nobody said a word. And my sister can't wear short shirts that barely show any skin? My friend with a big chest can't show a tiny bit of bra strap? My curls are "distracting?" WTF?
Every single woman I know has either been a victim of sexual assault or sexual harassment. Where are these mystical women they expect to get on a jury?
Conservatives: living their lives the way they want to, which includes demanding everyone everywhere be exactly like them.
Personally I think the worst thing about the #MeToo is the fact it needs to exist at all. We are, supposedly, evolved enough as a species that this sort of rubbish shouldn't be happening.
High heels were originally menswear anyway! The heel was for keeping your feet in the stirrups while you were riding around swinging swords and whatnot.
THIS!!!!!! This is why I could never support those campaigns even though the cause affected my family. Who cares if a woman loses the boobs if it saves her life?! That's one of the hardest things to deal with for a woman with breast cancer and the campaigns are suggesting that saving the breasts themselves is what matters. Save the women!!! Women are fine, whether they have a mastectomy and do or do not have reconstruction surgery. Their survival is the win!
This is true for everything, thousands of years of abuse and injustice, but men and some women are whining for every tiny sugestion of respond or protest, like "I hate feminism in movies" or "feminism ruin cinema", come on! cine was sexist and chauvinist since... forever, and nobody complains
Now this i don't get, i don't understand the hatred towards Trans ppl, i mean its not like Trans women are going to schools at tell kids to chop off their d***s, i get the " unlove " for Trans women in sport competitivos, because a Trans woman Will have an unfair advantage Over a cis woman, but a part from that " live and let live "
Which is nonsense when you remember that marriage was basically the woman's father paying her husband to take her off his hands. Which completely explains why there has always been "spinsters" (god I hate that term) in every generation and why I hate the "who gives this woman to this man" part of a wedding ceremony.
I had an extremely vivid nightmare where I was shoved up against a wall and sexually assaulted by some guy - so vivid I thought it was all real. And you know what the worst part was? My *first thought* other than "oh god please no" was a resigned, miserable, "well, I guess it was bound to happen eventually." :(
“Oh no! My child is being validated! The horror!” Where’s the logic?
My legal name is Alexandra, we meet, you happen to know my name from paperwork. You call me Alexandra, i correct you and tell you that actually i go by sasha. You call me sasha from the on because youre not an a*****e and we move on with our lives. You meet a person, call them "she" they correct you saying they prefer they/them, if at this point you start complaining about being "abused" and forced to do things, freedom yadda yadda, the situation is exactly the same as the first one. It has the same amount of impact on your life and your conversations with whomever. Theres no issue here of what youre allowed to do or believe, how many genders there are, freedom yadda yadda people are just asking you for basic common courtesy, use the address they prefer and be free to do and think whatever the hell you want and move on with your unchanged life.
At least in the USA some doctors still won't do a hysterectomy for medical reasons unless the woman's husband agrees because he might want children. Yet, if a 23-year-old man wants a vasectomy, there are no issues. Imagine if men had to get their wives' permission for any medication or medical procedures relating to their reproductive organs.
I have always found this to be profoundly creepy. I definitely had female friends in high school who were dating people in their 20s. It was impossible to get them to see that it wasn't their "maturity" the guys were after.
As a construction worker since 19 yes! I am 36 but the average guess is almost 50 when I meet new people. My knees are dead. My back is dying..i sold it to care for my son who turns 15 this year.... that being said, it's your body and you should be allowed to sell it in whatever way works for you. Sex work should be regulated for safety like all jobs, but should otherwise be totally legal... also it's bizarre that in western countries you can make it legal by filming it......
‘These are private areas that nobody should touch without your permission’ is only threatening to those that believe that children are property.
Not sure how that's "Feminism fighting the patriarchy" regardless of how true it may be. (I've not heard the later parts of that before)
My mom had cancer. Everything was covered under her provincial health card. Yeah, we pay taxes, but it covers us nicely so we don't have to scrounge and worry just to go to the clinic when we need to.
My favourite is 'Most women were against the vote for women's rights!', Yes Derrick, that's because they were brainwashed into thinking what a "woman" was, and that a woman's place was at home, doing needlework and making babies!
Maybe a bit off topic but let's be real-do you feel sad, happy, angry? Those are emotions, and we all have them. When I hear "women are emotional", I get the feeling that what they really mean is "women are irrational." Because all humans are emotional in some form or another.
There's enough gatekeeping and hate outside the community without bringing it from inside as well.
My daughter was diagnosed with Global Developmental Delay. I learned that is a blanket term used when something specific is undetermined. She was assessed for Autism 3 times, by a psychiatrist who met her for 10 minutes. Both times they said she doesn't have Autism because she wasn't displaying all the same traits as a boy with Autism, and I've been told "girls don't have it. Only boys do." I've learned Autism has different traits in girls than boys and girls are often the most misdiagnosed of other things when they actually do have ASD.
The way women and some men put it on it should just be called that. I find anything labelled "for men" or "for women" laughable. Colour it how they want, name it how they want, what's inside all the same product for everyone.
This. And don't let them say religious sexism ("protect yourself by wearing modest outfit") is the answer to capitalistic sexism ("show your body around to sell it"). It's patriarchy all the way, and it is equally oppressive and very old. Just wear what makes YOU comfortable. Sometimes I see women in hijabs casually having fun with their friends in mini-skirts and not giving a f**k if a man is going to judge or sexualize anyone of them, and this is what civilization is supposed to look like in my opinion.
Australia: "You don't have to pay back a cent until your income is high enough. If that never happens, then don't worry about it."
would be easier just to not explaining myself that would take to much effort for me
Missing some text there. "Nobody wants to work anymore, for assholes that exploit them while paying minimum wage (or lower)"
can we not refer to those scum bags as men a real man would never out their hands on a woman
I also love "millennials are ruining home ownership by opting for tiny homes". People aren't buying tiny homes or living in vans because it's "trendy". It's trendy because it's the only way most people can feel like they're in control.
"Young people in Australia would be able to afford housing if they didn't go to cafes and buy smashed avocado on toast!" Said by an actual Australian politician and yes he was serious.
The clothing in my wardrobe varies by FOUR sizes. Four. Why can't the global economy decide on a standard system?
Not only that, the amount of tax dollars an individual pays that goes towards social assistance programs is miniscule. Majority of it goes towards infrastructure, public services, emergency and community safety services, community programs, schools, environmental services, corporations, politicians, city administrators, city council, public health services, etc.
Yup, it's why there more than one Ace flag. Some of us even get married!
When trying to motivate boys, don't say "like a girl". Don't say "you throw like a girl", "you cry like a girl", "you run like a girl", etc. Because the message the boys (and their sisters) learn is that females are inferior and that a male's worth is how he compares to the females around him.
