Did the person who ordered this not realise it wouldn't fit under their door mat?

It wasn't an anvelope to fit better under the doormat... They did as asked.

That isn't a fail, its obvious the package was too large and the guy did what you wanted.

Just following instructions.

Bad judgement there... I'm a USPS guy myself, and you gotta think about whether the customer will be able to get it out. Also, don't want the customer accusing you of crushing the contents.

This has happened to me with my full-sized mailbox. Usually the mailman leaves larger packages on my porch, but I bet there was a lazy substitute that day. Took me forever to get that package out and it was squashed to fit in.

I had a delivery like that once. I ended up cutting the package open inside the mailbox, sliding the contents out, then crushing and removing the box.

A similar thing happened to me, but with a P.O. box. I shoved it through to the other side. They did it again. I did it again. Eventually I got a "please come to counter" note. :-)

Yes!! This! My mailman had done this to me twice! I had to slowly rip open the boxes and take everything out, then rip out the boxes!

Depending on the neighborhood, there is a real chance of your package being stolen here.

Can someone please tell me what the thing with hiding the package is all about? All my deliveries get to the front door and I live in Northern Europe. Is it an American tradition?

Nothing would get delivered if everything requires a signature, driver release in safe location, this is an apartment, not safe, too much foot traffic. Lucky they got package and it didn’t get stolen. Driver is an idiot
