Famous people seem to have it all. Fame, recognition, money, and influence. Some folks would do anything to become a celebrity as it opens so many doors, but others wouldn’t like to be famous at any cost as they prefer a calm and private life.

However, while being famous may seem like a dream life where everything is possible, there is another side to the coin. People are watched and discussed, and every step and action is scanned and discussed. And while you may have the biggest potential, one mess-up, and you may never recover from it.

So, speaking about that, recently, one Reddit user started a discussion asking folks to list famous people who had everything going for them but then managed to mess up badly and never recover from it... because some of these actions are actually impossible to come back from and hope that everybody has forgotten. So sit back and scroll through this list, as most of us like some drama.

I've always thought he was a jacka$$. A lot of people confuse genius and arrogance. It's downright scary that he can literally make decisions that influence war outcomes. It also absolutely sucked when he admitted he had Aspergers because then everyone assumed his bumhole personality is because of it which just reinforces limiting and incorrect stereotypes about ASD.

The mine itself was in Zambia, according to Snopes, and it was a stake in a mine. Also, his dad belonged to the PFP, which was a precursor to the DP, then the DA. (The PFP was a leftist party, which is ironic since the DA has stopped pretending they aren't racist.)

That reminds me of my ex husband's mother's Facebook page. She likes to use a picture that says "treat people with kindness" as her profile picture but talks s**t about people behind their back. It apparently applies to everyone but her. She and one of her sons and were gossiping and talking s**t about her brother's granddaughter on Christmas, the day after the girl's birthday in the kitchen and they were saying things that shouldn't be said about someone you are supposed to love. And this girl is the sweetest but didn't fit their idea of what they thought she was supposed to be. She was s**t to me too but how she treated this girl was horrible and she was blood related. Luckily she's cut them out of her life now that she's an adult. My ex's mom is fine if you're everything she approves of, but once she's upset she'll be fake nice to your face and talk s**t to everyone she knows the moment you're not around.

also funny note, I'm no longer accepted by them for daring to leave a man who used me and manipulated me because it's her son who she still babies, but they don't know I'm still talking to the granddaughter. We are actually very similar and I always wanted to do more for her but felt it wasn't my place. My ability to help her with them around was very limited. We had lunch not too long ago and I listened to her about how she was treated and it was unacceptable and abusive. I really don't blame her for going no contact. They would be enraged to know she talks to me but not them.

MedusaWasBeautiful have you ever read a bible? your argument is severely flawed, there are *many* verses specifically saying that pedophilia is definitely unholy. As is torture, starvation, beating, and murder. Do you even know the Ten Commandments? I learned them when I was 5. there happens to be one saying 'Thou shalt not murder'. You're just a disgusting example of someone trying to use religion to justify being a cr*ppy human

She did so well by it that they introduced it in the comics. But she had to go co-run a cult that sex trafficked women and branded them like animals. By all accounts he has always been egotistical, interested in learning psychological control techniques, and misogynistic. He's also been obsessed with Hitler for a long time. His speech during the Katrina fundraiser was spot on but his reputation prior to that was already one where he liked to make everything about him regardless of the situation. There's been a lot of debate about what condition he has and whether it's to blame for his behavior but according to Ye, and those closest to him when he was a little more healthy, the diagnosis is Bipolar. Family and friends did try to get him help but he has refused treatment. Bipolar does not explain or excuse his abusive behavior. He absolutely did have a break after his mom died, and based on recent accounts of his business interactions, he is surrounded by enablers. But that does not excuse the misogyny, stalker behavior and violent threats, antisemitism, slavery statements, and inappropriate sexual conduct at Adidas.

I heard Gold Digger so many times I wanted to stab by eardrums. I was like "This guy will be a one-hit wonder." Apparently he got really popular in the ensuing years as I ignored him. Still don't get the appeal. I tried listening but his stuff just isn't good. It sounds generic.

Seeing the photos in Venice of him getting a bj from his wife out in the open made me so angry. Gay people are harassed on the street, called names, even beaten just for existing, they are accused of exhibitionism when they hold parades because "wHy Do ThEy hAvE tO sHoVe ThEiR sExUaLiTy DoWn OuR tHrOaT?", they can't hold their hands or kiss out in the open but straight (rich) people can go around wearing a pillow and nude pantyhose as clothes and being blown, butt naked, on a boat. Also, the disrespect for the poor boat driver who had to see the scene and shut up. Seriously, I'm appalled.

He was an ADA, lawyer, founded a law firm, was a secretary under Clinton, AG, and then became NY governor. He was probably one step away from being the next DNC candidate for president. Sheen was great in Two and A Half Men but it was a shame that his vices got the best of him. Many fans of the show felt that it wasn't the same after Sheen left but Jon Cryer and the late Conchata Ferrell did their best to carry the show without him. I think Ashton Kutcher did have his moments here and there even though a lot of people didn't like him as Sheen's replacement.

This was an ESH situation. You don't make jokes about someone's medical condition, but you also don't hit someone for it. Will could have gone up there and and said something, for sure, but he didn't need to slap him.

Jada Pinkett-Smith has been giving Chris Rock hell for years because he won't go along with her rhetoric. She's wanted him to boycott and turn down lucrative job offers that he has had, to protest some b******t and he basically told her to "f**k off". I've lost my hair more than once going through chemo and have shaved my head, as sort of a preemptive strike. When I go to have it done for me, we refer to it as the " G.I Jane" cut because it sounds badass and empowering, instead of "oh s**t, my hair is falling out". Watch Chris Rock's bit about it on YouTube from his last comedy special, because he talks all about what happened.

Amazing how many people here are perfect and never make mistakes in anger or view Smith as someone who's supposed to be better that everyone else. Here's the story Rock made an insensitive joke, Smith got mad and made a mistake. Everyone is human and deserves forgiveness if they ask. Are you all so much better?

I think it truly is a case of everyone's the AH here. There is bad history between Jada and Chris Rock with sniping going back and forth - so it's not as if this poor taste 'joke' is likely to be in good spirits. She rolled her eyes, that was a reasonable response. Will Smith laughed... well, caught up in the moment and then it clicked when he saw her reaction. That happens. It is also not a good move to make fun of something a person cannot control and who isn't sensitive about losing their hair? I've known women who were horribly upset about it. Men too, why shouldn't they mind. Will Smith - traumatic events in his childhood, wound up on the day and so maybe not balanced. He reacted badly and it's not right to hit someone. I have been tempted, but restrained myself as Will Smith would have been better doing. At least he went on and got help... at least I think he did.

After she starred in Dirty Dancing and became a big name, she decided to get a nose job to make herself look better. What happened was no one recognized her anymore, and her career became limited to minor roles in TV and B-rated movies.

    I believe she decided to take time off from her career when the car she was riding in, driven by Matthew Broderick (her boyfriend at the time), crossed into oncoming traffic that resulted in the deaths of two women. He was convicted of careless driving & fined $175. This was in Northern Ireland. The accident occurred close to when Dirty Dancing was released. She retired from acting for a time because of how bad she felt about the accident. {https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jennifer_Grey}

We don't teach financial literacy in US schools. It's passed down through generations by the exclusively wealthy. Two thirds of Americans today could not pass a financially literacy test. I believe this is by design. The last generation to receive financial training in public schools are now boomer republicans or angry progressive shouting at the man while sitting on fat real estate. The wealthy of that generation in government elected to remove such training thereafter. Inner city schools, like Oakland where Hammer grew up, never got the funding for that. Up on the hill there, the neighborhood of Skyview, they were better educated and thus prospered. We at least need to value economics education enough so people know how to check their accountants and financial institutions.

Well aside from encouraging her employees to eat a banana out of strippers vag, there's also the accusations of Lizzo, the morbidly obese woman who declares "i am THE beauty standard" who has become the poster child for the "healthy at any size" misinformation campaign was fat shaming her performers. If you're in a sex club in Amsterdam, where prostitution is legal....i kinda don't think it rises to the level of harassment. Context, as always is somewhat important. While it's depressing, it's not at all surprising the second accusation isn't getting much attention.

He didn't even dislike Lincoln; the assassination wasn't politically motivated. He was just jealous that his older brother Edwin got so much acclaim for his acting, and John (mentally ill as he was) thought he could prove he was the better actor by doing an IRL Julius Caesar scene in the middle of Edwin's My American Cousin.

In their defense, how many people say that their buddy would never do something like _blank_? Sure there's those situations where the friends were all "Oh yeah, he was always kind of a jerk, but he never hurt anyone" but it's usually, "Oh, he was such a sweet guy, I would've never thought he could've done this" I mean if they THOUGHT he was the kind of guy who could do those kinds of things, they wouldn't have been friends. Even Ted Bundy had friends. In this case, Mila and Ashton were "solid bros" who didn't think their bro would do something like that, they were wrong - they erred in judgement. Ashton stepped down from the HT group because he doesn't want his poor judgement to affect the group's good work.

The dream young people have to hit it big in sports create so much disappointment. Millions strive for it, work for it, live only for that. From toddlers up to adulthood that is their life and the minute amount of these that actually make it is incredible. It has been calculated to be about that 2% make it big in sports. The ones that do, deserve it but when they screw it up like this they should be given absolutely no leeway. They not only screwed up their achievement but did it and ruined the dreams of so many that wanted it so bad.

There isn't really anyone to help guide them when they r given all this wealth and fame, and everyone is just looking to scam them from all angles. Im not saying the gf deserved it or anything, I'm just saying it's a whole different jungle with that level of money for them, and they r not even remotely prepared.

He gets paid to run up and down a small, indoor, heated wooden floored 'pitch' , bounce a ball for a short time and try to get that ball into a hoop with a small roped hoop underneath it. This goes on for an interminable time with lots of breaks for no reason, there seems to be some anger at some stage; why, , no idea. It is an utterly pointless 'sport'. I met him once at a park by the Hudson River in NYC and we had a really nice chat, when I realized who I was talking to I was screaming inside my head but didn't make it obvious. Turns out it was the best thing I did because the conversation carried on for a while and we were just two normal people having a normal chat. It was awesome, he was an incredible human being, treated me with much respect. His loss was much felt.

At that point he was stuck between a rock and a hard place. He could either risk being accused of abuse of power while the government was still in a really precarious place or he could come clean and explain what was really happening. He chose the latter and wrote the "Reynolds Pamphlet" (the woman was named Maria Reynolds) admitting to everything. It pretty much ended his political career right there.

Actually, Hamilton's affair didn't have as much of an effect on his political career as you'd think. Yes, he published the pamphlet about it but he still served in Government circles after that. He never really was interested in being the President either. He had an affair, 'fessed up to it, NEVER used his career to make money for himself (even while supporting 8 kids) AND had a monumental effect on the finances and governmental system of our country. I'd say 1 affair doesn't mean diddley squat when stacked up against that.

Her name was TIna Tintor and her dog's name was Max. She was 23 and driving home late at night on Rainbow Blvd when her car was struck by Ruggs, who had a BAL over twice the legal limit and was speeding in a 45mph, The impact was so great, Tina and Max were trapped in the car when it caught on fire and she couldn't get out. She didn't die as a result of the impact, but something much more horrible. There is a mural dedicated to Tina and Max on Rainbow (you can Google it to see it). Ruggs is now trash in Vegas. He should be put away for much longer. This city will never forgive him.

When the accusations came out, he immediately claimed innocence and said it was just a bitter ex trying to destroy his career and reputation. A judge later dismissed all charges against him due to a COMPLETE AND TOTAL LACK OF ANY EVIDENCE WHATSOEVER. Despite this, his career and reputation are still in shambles. The MeToo era needed to happen; it was long overdue. However, ending on "believe women" was a stupid decision. It should be "actually listen to women" instead of just ignoring their concerns like we used to. Jumping straight to always believing them is asinine, and is only going to damage the credibility of people making genuine claims.

Meanwhile, the majority of humanity can't get through the day without a drink or three, the US has become so hopeless fat that it's just decided to bully everyone with the very mature tactic of "i'm not the one with the problem, YOU ARE!" Everyone just blindly accepts those things, but everything else is somehow "immoral" you're shamed, attacked, threatened with prison, which makes whatever underlying issue that motivated the substance use in the first place, to intensify....which makes you retreat further into the drugs. Every aspect of society encourages people to hide drug use, which causes you to get really good at doing so. Which inevitably, for many people causes it to become a problem they often cannot shake. Stop looking at it as "someone harming themselves" and consider that YOU, are the one doing the most harm. Telling people to just say no, absolves you of having to deal with it, it doesn't actually achieve anything.

That's about the truest thing in that regard I've read here in a long time. Substance use and abuse, in and by themselves, don't carry any ethical wrongness. A lot of smugglery does (like implanting cocaine in life animals, and removing it afterwards ... the removal surgery often is deadly), and the entire situation is definately effed up big time. "Hey, let's prescribe a shidload of opioides to everybody and their Grandma!" being changed to "No more of that for you, gotta stop immediately because I might lose my license because I handed out Oxycodone like they're candy!" will not fail in sending people elsewhere, only making it worse and worse. If we'd accept the fact that substance abuse ALWAYS has underlying issues, and is not a sign of ethical failure, if we'd focus on effect as opposed to on effort, like it is currently, we'd already make a great leap forward in a non-Maoian way. But, as is today, it seems like displaying it as moral failure that implies a weak, selfish character, which still IS the societal standard viewpoint, is easier, and it justifies the law-and-order'ists tendency to counter undesired stuff with draconic punishment. They'd rather see two junkies dead and two in prison than even one in hospital or simply outside of jail. Jail won't improve anything there, but force you to a cold withdrawal that only succeeds because the lack of drugs doesn't allow to maintain usage. First day out, first shot in. I've seen how street drugs devestate people ... and I've seen, and personally known, one of the "hopeless addicts" that were given actual heroin in a study in germany 20 years or so ago. I'm not sure how it played out, but as long as the study was running, the people who were given heroin (clean, made by a medicine company, under the circumstances you'd expect - and not some unprofessional lab), including the one I knew then, could lead a life that barely is any different than that of non-addicts. She died in a car accident, not caused by herself, but from being homeless and, basically, left to rot until she'd have died, she recovered in every regard you can imagine - every single one but the habit of using heroin. This study, and the treatment the addicts received, should have been the last evidence to make it a gamechanger! But ... at least, it isn't as standard as it should be, because the goal is not making life better, but sobriety and sobriety alone. Maybe even that is not the right goal for everybody, for sure it isn't the right - or even realistic - goal for everyone at every time. What do I know, I tried heroin only once, sniffed it to prevent someone very dear, but very damaged (physically as well) from taking it, because they might not have been able to take the damage. But I was, so ... in with it, I've done dumber things for worse reasons. Tbh, it was a disappointment in each and every regard. Snorted it. Fel horrible, snorting stuff is disgusting anyway, ... but, that's not all, even the ligher opioides that don't need the special narcotics prescription (germany, may be handled differently elsewhere) are more effective in regard to euphoria, because the quality of that street-sold stuff is varying and generally low. Today, the issue with mixed-in fentanyl derivatives makes it even more dangerous, so ... whatever we as a society do about drugs, the first and overdue step would be to readjust the goal of it. Everybody being a saint of sobriety, obviously, isn't achievable, nor is it even justified.

My dad struggled with addiction so everytime they would say they found a body in the town he stayed I would always pray it wasn't him. Liver cancer ended up being what was his end

I met her a few years ago. She was super nice, gave me a signed copy of her (surprisingly excellent) autobiography, and she was still pretty funny.

Didn't she have a small, dramatic role on The Walking Dead?

Just saw her on The Morning Show, and she was in The Walking Dead for a bit, but, yeah-she lost her very funny show.

35 Celebrities That Had Everything And Made Career-Changing Mistakes, As Presented In This Thread Dunno if he counts as "famous" but... for a BREAKING NEWS scandal, how about Justin Sane, lead singer of Anti-Flag, a well-established (since 1988) punk band. For 35 years Sane's stage persona was of a militantly progressive singer, especially on women's issues. One of their songs is “Feminism Is for Everybody”, and Sane was a VERY vocal supporter of the #MeToo movement. Except *Rolling Stone* just published [a long story](https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/anti-flag-justin-sane-1234817170/) in which 13 women accuse him of violent sexual assault. Many were in high school at the time. One was 12. When the rest of the band heard the news they immediately broke up and released a statement saying something like "this isn't the guy we thought we knew for 35 years". I'm not sure I believe that. The *Rolling Stone* piece mentions a couple times when the band *had* to know. For instance, Sane once (allegedly) took a girl to a shed behind a venue, and the rest of the band were (supposedly) making "where's Justin?" jokes, as if they knew.

I mean, credit to the rest of Anti-Flag for quickly disassociating and condemning his actions rather than taking the "he never acted that way with us, so he's a great guy" (like friends of Danny Masterson)

But they didn't condemn him until his behavior became public. But, they didn't condemn him until the behavior became public.

Rolling Stone isn't exactly a trusted source. If his "friends" bailed that quickly, they had to have personal knowledge the story was true.

Saw them in concert once (not headliners at the time), they staged a fight in the crowd between a security guard and a fan. Then Sane jumps from the stage and attacks the security guard then proceeds to get back up on the stage and gives a 25 minute speech to the crowd about how we all have to be a family so we can fight the man. Biggest bunch of posers I've ever seen.

Same thing with Moxy Fruvous in Canada and former member Jian Ghomeshi. After the story of his violence against women came out, the band released a statement claiming they'd had no idea. B******t. I knew them in their heyday and while I didn't know why, even I was creeped out by him. There were venues that wouldn't let female servers into the green room because of him - people knew. There was no way the guys spending months in a van with him for years didn't.

Well, to play devils advocate, if I'm reading correctly, were from high school, maybe he went thru some stuff and it changed him. Does excuse what he did, but like oh so many of us, people change from who they were as kids. Maybe something similar happened to someone in his life and it put it in perspective. I'm not condoning what he did in any way, I'm just saying that his persona on stage may have been his attempt to right his own wrongs and try to help moving forward. Just a thought...

35 Celebrities That Had Everything And Made Career-Changing Mistakes, As Presented In This Thread The richest man in Ireland, Sean Quinn, lost everything today. A series of unsuccessful investments, tax evasion, led Quinn to court. Today, the former billionaire is completely bankrupt, and contempt of court has been added to the charges. A lot of people hate Sean. Three years ago, his former manager was even kidnapped and beaten, but the perpetrators were never found. Perhaps the former depositors of his bank who lost their funds are involved here, perhaps other investors.

They did get them in prison now. He was tortured, finger nails pulled, broke his chins with a metal bar and poured bleach and salt in his wounds, branded him and then dumped him on the side of the road. So much hatred in the community after what happened. And don't worry Sean is still in his mansion on the hill while normal folk lost everything.

Yeah, many tend to forget that 'bankrupt' doesn't not always equal 'poor' or 'literally no money at all'.

I disagree with this. I met John and Janice in Orlando in 2016, had drinks with them and spent some time chatting during the LP convention. John was amazing, albeit a bit eccentric. And he didn't give two f**cks about taxes. They still haven't released a body. Something not adding up there.

I really want Linds to recover her career. She's very talented and she was very young when she went through all her struggles. Her parents did her dirty and were/are gross people. Like Brit Brit, I Stan Linds.

When she was at her lowest, I was saying she needed to make friends with Drew Barrymore. If there was ever a person who is the archetype of surviving a destructive childhood, it's her. I figured she could help Lindsay find her way out.
