If you want to be a better person, start actually doing the things that that sort of a person would do. And then eventually it will just become the new you. It will be your second nature and then you won't even have to worry about it anymore.

I can't agree with this one. While there ARE plenty of good parents out there, I'm not for "honoring" ones who are horribly bad ones who damage their children.

YES! I'm just gonna rant for a lil bit real quick don't mind me. One thing I think is very odd is that depression is becoming an almost normal thing, as if everyone seems to have it. (At least from everything I hear and see) It seems like people think it's normal to have suicidal thoughts, or to be sad most of the time, or hide behind a smile. It's not. Most people, who live in good conditions, are happy, or at least not-sad. It's NOT normal to feel sad most the time, it's NOT normal to feel like killing yourself constantly, and it's NOT normal to feel too sad that you can't get out of bed! If you feel like this, then you need to get help because nobody deserves to feel like that! And trust me, I know it's hard as hell to ask for and get help, but please, please do it. You might not get INSTANT results, but keep at it and you'll feel so much better. Welp there's my two cents. TA-DA *Bows*

I like how this one said "or at least try." I think this applies to a lot of people near the decision between getting a "respectable" job or risk being literally homeless in order to do what you REALLY want to do. You don't want to throw away your chance at the "respectable" life but at the same time why waste your life on something you like if you could do what you LOVE? I think this lady has it figured out: at least try, and if it doesn't work, at least you can say you gave it a shot.

"I think the overall goal for myself at least, and a lot of other people is just to really find happiness. Find that thing that is technically a job, but you don’t see it as a job. It makes you happy, because you’re doing what you love. People tend not to do that because life gets in the way. "

Report

Zori the degu 1 week ago

I also want to find a job that I love. In fact, I'm ready to accept a job with modest payment rather than large one, as long as the lower-paid job is really what I would like to work. If you choose a job that you hate, life would simply pass meaninglessly. The quality of life cannot be bought with money, so I think one should really follow that piece of philosophy whose author's name I can't recall: "Find what you love and you are really good at and then make someone pay you for doing it."

Yeah, you might have your depression and/or anxiety moments in your grown up life, but it really isn't as bad as it sounds. When you're an adult, you will have many responsibilities, and that thing alone sounds frightening indeed. But then you will get to accomplish things and you may find it kinda fun at some point. Just never be too shy to ask for help. You'll need lots of back up. And trust me when I say that, I'm an introvert, and I used to be too shy and too proud, felt like a burden to the ones who love me most, not to mention the consequential self-guilt. But once you move on, you get to reach a position when you have the power to somehow pay back the favours and help others. As you say, there will always be up-and-downs. And, to see the rainbow in the sky, it needs to be raining. The sky is the most beautiful when the weather is unstable.

Luck is being prepared when opportunity presents itself. Growing up in a small town you don't necessarily know what all the options are, and I think that's been the biggest revelation for me. So, what does the hopefully 80 years on this planet matter? If I do this or if I do that. I think thinking that big is also meaningless. I'm trying to think on a smaller scale. Like in my life, I think my purpose is to just try to bring joy to other people. Whether that has a bigger role in the universe, it probably doesn’t.
