I couldn't figure out what they wanted. #9 shows a question mark, so are we supposed to simplify only or solve the equation, or solve for x? Or all three? Then for #11, it said to solve for each equation. Does that mean we put each numbered answer pairs into the equation and solve it four times with those numbers or what? This is one of the reasons I failed so badly in math when I was in high school and I'd bet anything that this is also the reason so many people say they are bad at math. We aren't bad at math at all. We're bad at trying to figure out what the problem is asking for and that's the fault of the books and the teachers and ALSO this test that don't clearly express how to figure THAT out. My biggest question in math is always WHAT DO YOU WANT, not how to do the problems. And that isn't something that should have to be asked.
