93 Stupid, Small But Significant Things That Made Men Lose Interest In A Woman Instantly
The dating pool these days is as messy as it gets. You meet someone, the conversation flows, you have a good time, and you might even start imagining where this could go. Then boom, something happens, and now the whole vibe is gone.
Men on Reddit shared the surprisingly petty reasons they have lost interest in a woman. We rounded up the ones that will have you shrugging in agreement, or maybe wondering how some of these things ever became dealbreakers. And if you are happily partnered up, you might finish this list feeling a little more grateful for the person who puts up with you.

She said she hated the sunset as I was admiring the sunset.
She had this really cool back tattoo of the tree of life. It was beautiful. I asked her about it and snapped at me that it was rude to ask people about their tattoos.
I've never heard someone say that since.
She wouldn’t put on the seatbelt and said my car was annoying because of the beeping. Because she wouldn’t put on the seatbelt.
Romantic love activates the brain’s reward and motivation systems, which can make meeting someone new feel exciting.
But as the excitement settles and you start noticing their quirks and habits, the person you put on a pedestal may start looking pretty ordinary. You may even realize you do not like them as much as you thought you did.
When making kraft mac and cheese she poured the cheese packet into the boiling water.
To preface this I am a chef.
Took a girl out to dinner after we had been talking on hinge for weeks, when going to order she informed me that she has a severe shellfish allergy. Okay no problem we can work around that.
She also says that she is gluten free. Not celiac. Just gluten free by choice. The amount if time it spent going back and forth with the server trying to decide what she could eat was too much for me. I completely lost interest.
Dating has gotten easier to start and a lot harder to figure out in this age of apps and social media. You can meet someone, flirt for a while, and get a good idea of whether you are interested before you have much history together.
And if it doesn't feel right, you can always slide into another person's DM.
We went to the pool and she came out of the water with some green snot dripping out of her nostrils.
17 year old me decided it was time to end the relationship.
Psychologists have studied how people form impressions of potential partners. They found that negative information carries a lot of weight when people decide whether to pursue someone romantically. Once you get the “ick,” oh well, the relationship may be over, just like that.
She ate ice cream and the ice team got all over her fingers. That didn’t bother me. But what bothered me was that she refused to wash her hands and just rubbed her hands on her shirt and continued the entire date as normal. Got the ick.
We went shopping at the mall and passed by a kiosk where they sold hats. She tried one on and I realized that she had a really big head. After that, I only ever saw her massive head when I looked at her. I broke up with her later that week.
Went to Chuck E. Cheese to drink cheap beer, eat crappy pizza, and play video games as a joke back in the 2000s. They had a digital photo booth that would combine your faces and show you what your "kid" would look like in the future. When we saw the result, I knew the relationship was cooked.
That’s on you. You went to Chuck E Cheese on purpose and expected the photo mixer to be good. Why is that even an option there?
Research suggests that partners being similar doesn’t necessarily mean they will have a satisfying relationship. The qualities each person brings to the relationship, along with shared values, attitudes, and goals, seem to matter more.
This is why a seemingly silly complaint may actually be a genuine mismatch in a relationship.

Her laugh was like a hyena falling down a well.
Now I need to push a hyena down a well to know what it sounds like.
She picked me up on our second date. Her car stunk of farts. Maybe she was nervous, but I decided never again.
She kept saying “silly goofy” and “dilly dally”. It came across so forced and she said it so much that it started weirding me out. So yeah.
Well I don't think it's dumb, but others might. I didn't like her untrained dog. Zero skills learned. No sit, stop, stay, leash control, jumping/pawing. The dog would drag her. Absolutely cringe to me.
Not too dumb but she said I think this will last a few months into spring. Cool you put a deadline on this, allow me to move that along then.
She told me she didn't believe in cancer (unironically told me positive mentality fixes everything), very pretty though.
She tried to make me put in my best friends house into GPS when I was driving. Kept telling her I grew up here i know where im going. She kept pushing it. I was like" u know what, I think this is over" and that was that lol.
I cut things off with the smartest, most attractive and caring woman I’ve ever been with because of how her family treated her sister’s ex boyfriend. The sister and boyfriend had a child then split. The family wouldn’t let him around the child for cultural reasons. I was too afraid of possibly one day being estranged from my own child.
So basically out of fear and by betting on us not working out eventually, I made sure we didn’t even get a chance to work out. Not sure it was the best decision looking back at it.
She sent me a bunch of Seinfeld gifs before our first date. Day after day. Like the Seinfeld gang being wacky and dancing for joy. I discovered that women liking Seinfeld too much is just a huge turnoff for me.
Our son told us he walked away from a girl he was interested in at a bar...
She had the same name as his sister.
She had 2 beers. While ordering lunch. She had three more while eating lunch.
Taking her home, she asked if I could swing by the grog shop - so she could buy a case of 24 VBs.
In like 2013 I hooked up with this girl. We were laying in bed afterwards, and she was scrolling her own Facebook feeds. At this point basically everyone had a full QWERTY keyboard on their phone. If you had a smartphone, there's no excuse. All of her Facebook statuses were typed out like T9. Like, "Can U C if sum1 has a spare nightstnd?" Her Facebook statuses were all like that. I asked if she texted like that and she's like "ya, why?"
I tried texting her to set up a few dates. Our schedules didn't align that great and I didn't try that hard because I found trying to decipher t9 in the age of a proper keyboard to be annoying so I let it fizzle out. She announced getting a new boyfriend 2 months later on Facebook. And yes, her announcement was t9 "KEVIN ND I R DATINGGGGG" and I blocked her.
She wore flip flops constantly,everywhere...I asked her you wear those in the winter too? She said unless it's snowy,or icy.
My buddy nicknamed her little miss flip flops.
She was a messy eater. We were on a date, probably around #10, went to an art gallery opening and then to a decent restaurant, since we were dressed nicely. Ended the meal sharing a tiramisu, and when we were done, she had it all over her face and looked like the Temu version of an OF creator, I can tell you. I knew at that moment it was over.
She said "smee smee" every time she got comfortable or excited. I felt like I was dating a smurf or something.
She changed the music while I was driving and touched the shifter (stick shift). I had to stop her from popping the car out of gear or changing gears.
She was terrible with spelling and punctuation. I would see her post on social media and it just overcame how attractive I found her.
My dog peed on her and wouldn’t let her touch him the night she came over.
At the time my dog was 8 and I have had him since he was 8 months old. He has never peed on someone in his life and he is the most friendly dog in the world and in the now 12 years I’ve had him he has never reacted that way to anyone
May be a dumb reason but if my super friendly dog hated her I should probably to.
Her social media usage and her desire to post me on her social media. I am a pretty private person so I refused most of the time to have my face on her social media. She was also glued to her phone a lot. Kind of annoyed me.
She was always using the word "infer" when she obviously meant "imply." And I know some guys would put up with that kind of thing. But frankly, I can't imagine why.
Before I met my current partner . I went on a few dates with this woman who wouldn’t stop talking about her dog in practically every conversation. She would compare others to the dog as well. Don’t get me wrong, I love animals. But I don’t need to bring up my pets in every conversation.
She developed that Instagram voice, where the speech gets lazy and irritating at the end. Hard to explain but it really started grating my ear drums.
First date. She bragged about cooking constantly. At the end of the night I’m driving her home. She asks me to drop he off at a Whole Foods so she can go home and bake banana bread. I asked “do you know all the ingredients you have at home?” She looked at me slack jawed and said “I don’t need ingredients. I’m going to buy a loaf of baba bread and bake it in the oven.”.
She hummed. A lot. Like, so much that I kept wanting to make small talk just to stop her from humming. She was a very engaging conversationalist, but the literal SECOND she stopped talking she would start humming. The kicker? I hum. A lot. It doesn’t bother me when I do it. It bothered me when she did it.
She admitted to not eating fruits.
Possibly related, her breath did smell frequently but it was the fruits thing that got me.
She told me a story about when she was driving her grandmas car and accidentally backed into a pole. Not a lot of damage but when her family confronted her about it she blamed it on her grandma who just started showing signs of dementia… Like how could you live with yourself.
I don’t think I’ve ever lost interest in someone for a dumb reason. It takes something pretty big to change my feelings towards anyone.
I will say there was one girl that kept saying eckspecially, and eckspresso, rather than especially or espresso. Still liked her though.
She kept playing music on her phone at the same time we were listening to music on another device (usually her choice of music on that too). Most of the time she was putting music to a video she was uploading to social media, which she was obsessed with. Hearing two different songs at the same time drives me crazy.
She ate my cheez-itz
Context I was fresh out of high school had my own apartment I was broke asff didn’t have money to even eat really… I worked the graveyard shift all I had was cheez itz to eat she spent the night at my place.. I woke up to go to work got ready then on the way out went to grab my cheez-itz I asked her where they were at.. she said I ate them (wasn’t phased at this point). But then she said and “they were nasty asf” I went to work she left and I blocked her 😭😭 you can eat my cheez its but you can’t eat them and be ungrateful😂😭.
Hate girls tryna make me feel jealous, I just lose interest in them no matter the love, affection.
I was replacing a toilet in my basement. She was helping. The water feed valve turned out to be bad, so it was constantly leaking. We were going to go to a big box store to get a clamp-on shark replacement (this was like Friday evening, didn't want to pay emergency rates for a plumber.)
So I started working to get the leaky valve stuck down the drain hole, so it could just merrily leak away. She said 'just put it in that big bucket, it's not leaking fast enough to fill the bucket before we get back.' I said 'You're probably right, but I'd also hate for the valve to fail further or something.'
She then said 'Oh, you don't trust me.'
And that was it. You're going to turn such a minor thing like this into a referendum on the relationship? Into a *power struggle?* Nope.
I had a first date with a girl at the beginning of November. Before the end of the date, she was planning our holidays together. I lost interest immediately.
She pronounced Thai as "thigh"
Edit: I just looked her up and shes still fine AF. 39 but still single interestingly. Anyway, I regret nothing.
I had a tiny crush on a girl I sat next to in class, nothing huge, I just thought she was cute. And we partnered together to do a group project. And then she was lazy and didn't really do anything. Now the way our proffersor graded it was individual, so her not doing much didn't affect me, I actually got an almost perfect score, but idk, her not wanting to do anything just made me lose interest.
They said that they don't like it when people cry, I had basically asked them a question about how they handle emotional situations.
She was easily influenced by TV ads if they had people in them that she thought were "trendy" or "cool". She saw a McDonald's ad back when they were selling cheese toasties and because the people eating them in the ad looked "cool", so she wouldn't stop talking about how she had to get a cheese toasty from Maccas because then she'd be cool too. Everything about her was somehow to do with fitting in with the hip crowd, it drove me over the edge and I had to walk away.
She was pregnant at the time and told me I’d be a great dad. (I was not the biological father.).
Her name was Crystal.
I tried imagining myself telling my friends, “This is my girlfriend, Crystal”.
Couldn’t do it.
She was a former educator, struggling to pay for college,.. and it turned out a republican and when talking about Bernie Sanders and how he wanted to make college free to improve education, her honest response was, "So! What have smart people ever done for this country?".. To this day, it was the Stupidest thing I've ever heard.
She refused to use her turning signal while driving her full size pickup truck through pedestrian focused residential areas. Told me nobody else needs to be worried about where she was going.
Instantly got the ick. Like yall really don’t care about not hitting pedestrians with your car and it shows.
Before ick was a thing, I got some serious ick from a new girlfriend over the way she laughed.
She was this super expressive extrovert who had zero shame or ability to read a room. She had this loud, obnoxious laugh and it immediately turned me off. I stuck with it for 3 months for other reasons, but in the end, that was it.
Met a girl on twitter a couple years back and coincidentally she lived like 2 hours away. I drive to meet her and as soon as she entered the vehicle a stench hit me like a nuke lol. Idk if it was her mouth or 🐱 but that was enough for me to never talk to her again.
To this day it has to be the worst smell ive ever encountered on a person. Ive had dirty class mates that stank, other girls that stank down there, and it still was nowhere near as bad as this girl. It’s mind boggling to me that a person could smell that bad.
I had to explain how centuries worked, she couldn't grasp that we were in the 21st century and we were both born in the 20th century. She kept arguing that neither of us were over 100 years old.
She was a teaching assistant, training to be a teacher.
She spent a lot of time around horses, which wasn't the problem, but she smelled like horse manure even after showering. Even her breath smelled like it. After making out once I was like... naahhhh.
Dated a guy who just couldn’t grasp the difference between “to, too, and two”. When he mentioned this- I regrettably tried to be helpful and said that “too” could sometimes be used in place of the word “also” but didn’t think I needed to explain that any further . He then started to respond to someone saying “thank you” with “you also” instead of “thank you too.” Or “I like that too” with “I like that also”. Okay… awkward but hey… he was trying. But eventually it was off the rails..… “That is too much to remember “ became “That is also much to remember.” “I ate too much last time we ate there” became “I ate also much last time we ate there.” ??? When I tried to explain why that didn’t work , he just didn’t get it. Claimed I was just upset that he was improving himself.
Years later I realized….… he actually must have known (intuitively?) when to use “too” because he was consistently replacing it with “also.” Idk .
Her choice of pizza toppings.
I've perfecting my neapolitan pizza skills for the past 20 years.
She was into american style pizza, but insisted on having it with ham, pineapple, banana slices and marschino cherries.
She wore sweat pants everywhere. Fancy restaurants. Movies. Bowling. Hanging out with friends.
Ugh.
We got back to her place and she had 2 big dogs. She then proceeded to let them lick her face for 5 mins... I had no interest in putting my face near her face after that.
Went to her house and she put on the big bang theory. I liked her so I endured the full episode. I asked if she was ready to go out and instead she put on another episode. I instantly realized we were incompatible and I got the f**k outta there. .
I’m a woman but I was chatting with a guy on a dating app and we had set up a date after weeks of messages, but then he asked one more question-“do you own a pair of strappy sandals” and I said what’s that? And he said sorry, but I don’t want to meet you!
I listen to lesser known artists and would share some of it with her. She started treating it like a competition and would send me songs with basically no streams that i know she didn't listen to or like.
Smoked cigarettes. Otherwise super beautiful and really cool. I know, fumbled... But I just can't do it cigs are so gross.
