While the internet does provide a reasonable amount of “distance” from the consequences of one’s words or actions, it’s still not entirely a free for all. Make a single typo and at least one netizen will take to the comments section. But some folks are much more ambitious when it comes to getting internet users up in arms.

That is a full sentence in English. Our language allows you to leave the words you are replying to assumed and unsaid. The reply to "Would you stand on one leg now?" is "Why?" (or "No" or "Yes"). You don't have torepeat words and say "Why do you want me to stand on one leg?".

The Downvotes Are Swarming In
Netiquette is basically the unwritten rulebook every internet stranger is expected to memorize the second they create an account, and somehow half the internet still failed the pop quiz. The term itself is a mashup of network and etiquette, and according to Emily Post's (great name) own etiquette guide, the golden rule hasn't changed since forums were black and green text on a black screen: treat people online the way you'd treat them face to face. Simple in theory. Wildly, spectacularly ignored in practice.
Part of the problem is that comment sections strip away everything that normally keeps human conversation civil. No tone of voice, no facial expression, no body language, just naked text that can be read a dozen different ways depending on the reader's mood.

That's why a genuinely well meaning "just curious why you'd do that" can detonate into a forty reply argument about someone's life choices. Online safety resources point out that this lack of nonverbal cues is exactly why written communication online causes so many more misunderstandings than a conversation would in person.

Then there's the classic all caps meltdown. Typing in full capital letters online has been interpreted as shouting for so long that it's basically internet law at this point, and plenty of people still don't get the memo, showing up to a group chat sounding like they're personally furious at punctuation itself. Combine that with someone who refuses to use a single paragraph break and you've got a comment nobody actually reads all the way through, yet everyone still argues anyway.

This is one of the things that so many people don’t get: many, many of these men are very excited by the idea that they have ‘broken’ a girl or a woman. Another thing people need to grasp is that for a victim to report an åssault, let alone follow a case through into court, can be extremely harrowing, the equivalent of being åssaulted again (to the point of süicide) and therefore they have every right to think carefully about what happens next and they have Every Right to not report it if they know that would be the wrong case for them.

Anonymity is another huge culprit. Hiding behind a username with a cartoon avatar seems to unlock a version of people who would never dream of saying half these things to someone's actual face. Throw in the fact that screenshots exist forever, and that deleting a post doesn't actually delete it from someone's camera roll, and you get an entire genre of viral content built from people who forgot the internet has a memory like an elephant with a grudge.

Several years back I was out on my motorcycle. Pulled into a cafe to grab a bite. I had my jacket off and was wearing a pink tshirt. Young couple comes in and the guy starts giving me grief for the pink T. I didn't say anything, just turned a bit and the GF saw the "Ride for Breast Cancer logo" on it and told him to sit down and shut up.
Oversharing ranks right up there too. Somewhere along the way, a chunk of the internet decided that any thought, no matter how private, personal, or frankly none of anyone's business, deserved a public audience. Add unsolicited advice, a stranger explaining someone's own life back to them, or a full blown diagnosis based on three sentences of context, and you've basically built the entire internet argument starter kit.

A Decent Title
Sarcasm deserves its own mention, mostly because it dies almost instantly in text form. What sounds hilarious out loud can read as genuinely mean when there's no wink, no smirk, no vocal inflection to soften it. A joke that would get a laugh at a dinner table can start a full blown pile on online, complete with people who missed the joke entirely and are now personally offended on behalf of a total stranger.

And of course, there's the constant tug of war between free speech and just being kind of a nuisance about it. Plenty of people treat every comment section as a debate stage, showing up uninvited to correct grammar, relitigate old arguments, or drop a hot take nobody asked for. It's the kind of behavior most guides to online conduct warn against, right alongside the classic advice to just take heated arguments offline before they spiral completely out of control.

Ooof, this one's old, but for a time reddit had it set up where you could see where your subreddit was being linked from. To avoid this, people were using the | symbol in place of the / in posts to prevent that, as quite a few subreddits (the one they mention being a good example) brigading where ever their subreddit was referenced. The reason the OP got downvoted though, was because people found out that the person with the downvotes, was a regular poster on that subreddit.

Not only in Poland. In the Netherlands we also have a "mossel monitor". The clams are refreshed often (daily?). Sometimes "low tech" works faster than high tech. Clams are delicate - if something is off about the water they close, faster then tech can detect is. When they close, inlet of the water is closed as well and testing commences.
