Every one of us has some unique traits: a goofy eye, a crooked finger, long neck, narrow hips—you name it, someone has it. But there are some examples that go beyond this, some traits that are so unique they can catch anyone’s attention almost instantly. Among those types of examples is Eris the Borzoi wolfhound, who has an extremely long 12.2-inch snout. Her owners claim that she may have a world record holder nose and they definitely wouldn’t mind if experts measured it!

The couple from Richmond, Lily and Savannah, adopted her and brought her home in July 2018. Back then, she was just a pup, and no one even knew how long she and her nose would become. Just recently, she celebrated her second birthday. They grow up so fast, huh? Speaking of growing, the couple didn’t even realize that their Eris would become an Instagram sensation with over 179k followers. Originally, they created the account as a sort of a scrapbook, a place where they could track the progress of her growth. “We were always hoping to share some of the happiness and smiles Eris brings into our house, and in these last few months, it’s felt more impactful than ever. We’re so glad to be able to add a little tiny moment of light to all of the goodness shining through the world,” the owners shared their happiness with Bored Panda.

Here are some interesting facts about the Borzoi breed. Borzois originated in 17th-century Russia. The aristocracy liked the breed for their peculiar look and extremely good hunting skills, because there, the aristocracy often organized large hunting parties. Borzoi literally means “fast.” They’re otherwise known as Russian wolfhounds (not to be confused with a greyhound) or walking clouds (ain’t that cute?). They’re independent and an athletic breed, reaching around 26-30 inches at the shoulder as adults and weighing around 100 lbs. They’re usually very quiet as they don’t bark that often, and they adapt well to suburban life. So, there you go. Enjoy this definitive gallery of long-snouted beauty Eris!

Cute, but this shouldn't be considered normal or desirable trait when breeding borzois. The underjaw is much shorter than upper jaw which can cause health issues.

hello! concerned reader here! the misleading title of your wonderful article led me to believe that the snout of this adorbs pupper would be "even longer" than the already "very long dog." unfortunately, upon close inspection of the provided images, the dog appears to in fact be longer in total than the snout. please correct this so as not to confuse more well-intentioned readers. cheers!

Hello friend! Believe me I understand your frustration. I too would love to see a long dog with an even longer snout! Believe me I’ve actually been searching! I believe that you are misinterpreting this title. Where you believed they were claiming that this dogs snout is longer than it’s body I believe that they were saying that the dogs body is longer, proportionally, than normal and the snout(which is just adorable)is even longer, proportionally, than normal. Have a good doggo😉 day!

Pictures 5, 9, and 10 look like it's more of a perspective thing, enhancing the length. That pup does have a serious overbite, thought. Pictures 22, 23, and 26 look more in perspective, both in face and body. Pics 25 and 27 are too darn cute for words. Eris, no matter what, is just adorable 💖

That face is the result of horrible inbreeding. Like many "purebred" dogs, Borzhois have been inbred to the point where most of them are unhealthy and dumb as a sack of hammers.

Cute, but this shouldn't be considered normal or desirable trait when breeding borzois. The underjaw is much shorter than upper jaw which can cause health issues.

Was the long snout bred in for a reason other than an unusual look?

what a beauty! Borzois don't typically have a snout longer than their lower bite, but it doesn't' seem to cause her any problems. :)

hello! concerned reader here! the misleading title of your wonderful article led me to believe that the snout of this adorbs pupper would be "even longer" than the already "very long dog." unfortunately, upon close inspection of the provided images, the dog appears to in fact be longer in total than the snout. please correct this so as not to confuse more well-intentioned readers.

I've loved Borzios since I was 16, when the vet I used to work for had them. They were all lovely natured dogs, and we got to take them for walks in our scruffy jeans and trainers! I'd have one but my partner is too allergic.

That poor dog's jaw is so undershot it looks like a shark face. That's some seriously bad breeding there, and no amount of calling it 'cute' will make it right.

That face is the result of horrible inbreeding. Like many "purebred" dogs, Borzhois have been inbred to the point where most of them are unhealthy and dumb as a sack of hammers.
