It’s OK to have a hobby.
It’s OK to have a have a hobby in childhood.
It’s OK to have a hobby that started in childhood and continues to be one to this day.
But, as with a lot of things in life, people still gotta consider the context, read the room, and understand that there is a fine line between being a fan and being cringe.
Disney Adults are a great example. It’s OK to be a fan, but when it starts taking over a person’s life to a degree everyone can see and hear, then it starts becoming a tad bit awkward. Or altogether bizarre if left unsupervised.

Why would this be cringe? I think it's very fun, especially if you're doing this with your closed ones trying to figure out how to make it look like this but whilst it being a stable construction too
I love this. The blue on the real cake is a bit too blue for my esthetic liking but that's my problem. Its a cool cake.
THAT was your takeaway from this massively impressive cake? Lol
Load More Replies...I don’t think there’s a need to explain what Disney is at this point, but you might be wondering what an adult of said noun would be. Urban Dictionary describes a Disney Adult as a grown-up millennial, whether with or without kids, who just can’t seem to stop talking about Disney.
In good Urban Dictionary fashion, it also discloses some other details about Disney Adults. Namely that their obsession with all things Disney often surpasses that of their kids (or maybe even all kids), despite it being a predominantly a kids’ thing; they partake in Disneybounding, which is aesthetically coordinating your clothes to mimic those of Disney characters, and making sure they visit Disneyland at least once a year with their car that, at the very least, has a Mickey Mouse bumper sticker on it.
I'm honestly very surprised it's only $3, and not like $10 since everything is grossly overpriced anywhere you go in there.
That’s exactly what I thought when I read the caption. I just thought someone was so excited to find a cheap food item at Disney lol
Load More Replies...Ummm, I'm confused, are those happy tears? Crying over Disney, as an adult, seems kind of odd IMO.
They are probably crying at the prices there :)
Load More Replies...Piling on Disney Adults is all the rage - and so odd. It's interesting to compare it to the devotion of any subset of sports fans (Soccer/football, professional or college) and see how much time, money, gear and attention they pay to their team of choice. They are also prone to devote intense emotion - good and bad - year after year. But, I've never seen pages devoted to making fun of "Sport Adults." Interestingly, most Disney Adults that I know - and, obviously, I am one - don't care or pick on others for what interests them. Different things make different people happy, or emotional. Making fun of them for it because it isn't "cool" by one's own standard (or fandom)? An interesting choice.
Drop a hat folks for that's all it takes to get me to cry any more. Oh look a stone, 😭 never think anyone is off their rocker because they cry or are moved to tears in public. crying is a great emotional release stress or tension.
These people creep me out. Sorry but... I don't mind if you watch a Disney movie or appreciate the whole thing in a healthy way. I love lots of the movies they put out. I enjoy the message. But I will never, ever understand this level of reaction to pretty much anything. It's like people who cry when they see Beyonce or Taylor Swift. Or the people who put the faces of a politician they like on their wedding dresses. Nothing that isn't real or in my actual life is going to evoke this response.
To each their own, but at least Disney fans don't kill/ maim/ attack other people because they don't like Disney, you know? It's a pretty wholesome fandom imo.
Load More Replies...Oh those are fun! Perfect for special fun moments in life. They don't look vey sturdy lol.
No worries. There's a steel spike through Mickey's head.

Those heels will be destroyed by the time you've gone a few steps back and forth to see if they fit you.
The idea of Disney Adults exists as a cultural internet phenomenon. And if you google it, you’ll find articles discussing it and memes… memeing it. In fact, one of the main sources of information that you’ll find about Disney Adults is Know Your Meme.
According to the site, Disney Adults as a concept has been developing since the early ’90s along with the Millennials and Gen Z who grew up with a strong Disney influence in the media. And so these individuals grew up with Disney, and the nostalgia they experience now only strengthens the bond and the subsequent expression thereof. And the internet thinks it's obnoxious.
While the site attributes the formation of the concept of Disney Adults (to a noticeable degree) to the early ’10s, it wasn’t until 2017 when a viral College Humor video popularized the term and so the meme officially had a name now.
why anyone would tattoo disney on themselves is beyond me but you do you!
If that is the worse thing you have ever seen, you have lived a very sheltered life!
Don't see how this is any different to people getting tattoos inspired by movies/ music/ videogames? Not sure what the blue line is about, but disregarding that... at least they are well executed tattoos.
I was a freshman in college when The Little Mermaid came out. I went to a matinee, saw one of my professors there with his children. I was so embarrassed!
I like your pfp, do you play Undertale? It's my favorite game!

This story made me cringe so hard. Imagine being a full grown up and bragging about teasing someone for their name...
Another location where Disney Adults are discussed at length is r/DisneyAdults.
Unlike many other meme-oriented subreddits, r/DisneyAdults also encourages debates, discussions, and just overall opinion and Q&A style posts. Speaking of posts, the community is currently in “restricted” mode, which means only approved accounts can actually post there. This is to ensure order and peace in the online community. Also, probably, so that actual Disney Adults wouldn’t come barging in, trashing the place.
As for themes, topics, and content, it ranges from talking about Disney engagements to Disney crushes to personal and not-so-personal stories. Besides memes, the subreddit includes various Disney artwork, videos discussions, crossposts and the like.
Skip Winters posted this above and I am reposting it here: Piling on Disney Adults is all the rage - and so odd. I'm seeming an end to my childhood with splash Mountain change. I understand the reason but don't actually like it. One of my favorite rides got changed ages ago. The eastern airlines ride that was a wonderful calming immersion ride into various nature scenes. sad its gone happy to have had the experience.
This is my cousin. She was a Disney-crazed/obsessed kid who never lost the obsession and is now 34. It’s disturbing to talk to her as EVERYTHING gets twisted around to a Disney parable or a comparison to a movie plot. She’s never dated or gotten a proper job. She has no mental incapacitation or disabilities - she has simply made Disney into her entire personality. She is also morbidly obese and complains that she’ll never get a job working at Disneyland (we live very close to it) because of their “prejudice” against “fat princesses”. I worry for her future when her parents (also morbidly obese) die :(
I'm morbidly obese, and I pretend to be my kitten, so I guess I can't judge.
Kittens are better than disney. Plus, how do we know it's not really your cat, who tricked you into saying that so we won't realise how smart they are?
Load More Replies...They used to have little open-air trams that took people from the far off parts of the parking lot to the park entries! A tour guide would welcome guests and talk to them on the way. Such a shame they stopped this for "covid reasons"
Load More Replies...This has been used extensively for Kings Island in Cincinnati, OH, who used to have trams that would drop you off at the gate but haven't had them in years.
Did people really stage a protest (with signs?!?) over Disney being closed during Covid? I have no hope for humanity anymore. :(
Oh dear. You ain't gonna have singing woodland creatures looking after you when you catch Covid.
So ridiculous. Lets put people's lives at risk to spend 1000 dollars on a day spent waiting in line.
Funny part is had Disney opened up then there would have been other folks picketing them to close down.
Why is the one word blurred, it's not like it says, "Powered by B***h Dust.
Yes it does. I have seen that sticker around SEVERAL times. I don't have a picture as proof, but here's a link to buy one. Load More Replies...An article in the Rolling Stone pinpoints the reason for the notorious reputation of Disney Adults. The key factor here is cringe. It just makes you feel completely uneasy seeing and hearing an adult fanboy (or fangirl, or fanpeople) about something that is fundamentally for kids. Sure, Disney is technically for people of all ages, but, among adults, it just comes off as escapism.
This is besides the fact that no matter how authentic Disney’s take on making magic happen might look, at the end of the day, it’s a huge corporation that has invested an insane amount of money into providing a product and experience that seems authentic, but in reality is tailor-made and optimized to bring in profit to them, and nothing else. Because business. And knowing that fact, yet still deciding to live naively as if this is all truly magical, is at the very least concerning.
We won’t even start with TikTok.
I think I have Vanessa Hudgens's address lying around somewhere
Load More Replies...I'm guessing she's kidding - I hope she's kidding - plus, she would have to be truly delusional if she thinks any character would show up for a themed wedding. I'm sticking with she's just kidding.

Thought the sign said, “commitment to curing.” Dang, Walt Disneys head really must be frozen somewhere.
How can a funeral home have a commitment to curing? If its diseases, its too late. If its meat, that is disgusting.
I'm surprised that font is public. I would have thought The Mouse would've copyrighted it
Disney should do remakes of the fairy tales for adults! Red-hot iron slippers, chopping off toes, Sleeping Beauty's stepmother eating her child! Of course, it'd probably just turn into porn...
They did incorporate some of this in Into The Woods (the chopping off toes part, at least)

I'm honestly surprised that shirt exists in the first place.
Load More Replies...I think the shirts are cute and funny. Kinda like adult jokes in Shrek. Cringy with kids with them
We live close to Disneyland, but the season pass is too expensive. We’re season passholders at Knott’s Berry Farm. Way cheaper, and just as fun if you’re not a foaming-at-the-mouth Disney fan. We can spontaneously decide to go to Knott’s for a couple of hours at 6pm if we want to. No need to plan out every second of your trip to try to “get as much in as you can” like you do with Disney :(
I live in Florida and we always opted to get passes to Busch gardens and no Disney for the same reason.

the quote, fair enough, but the solid black mickey head? noooooooooooooo
Maybe they had something else there and wanted to cover it? But otherwise I do agree, nooooooo
Load More Replies...The mouse head is really badly done too. Tattoos lines shouldn't bleed like that.
Why would you want a permanent reminder of something you wanted to do but weren't able to?
Harpling, ladies and gentlemen, asking the tough questions - I would like to know why also.

Is that Luke and Leia as the parents? Makes me think of that Family Guy where they joked about Alderaan being the Mississippi of the galaxy.
Wanting to travel the world with bae but turns out bae only wants one destination and it's disgusting?
That has not been proven. He was anti-union and an anti-communist.

I’m an adult who likes Disney. I grew up on the movies (I even auditioned for Young Nala’s voice for Lion King!) and we went to Disneyland often when I was a kid as we live very near it. I have quite a few Lion King plushies and one set of Mickey ears (R2-D2-themed). My cousin is a “Disney adult”. It’s… terrifying to talk to her XD

My husband & I love Disney movies, but we are both in agreement that we would rather have pain killer free root canals that enter the gates of those places. They are filled with snot nosed, screaming, booger eating little petri dishes. And their parents are even worse.
Why do other people care SO much that there are adults that like/love Disney? Some of it is annoying af, but most of it sounds like pissy people that care too much about other people rather than minding their own business. Are you an adult that doesn't like Disney? Cool, don't go, don't spend any money on it, don't watch the movies. But seriously leave the adults that DO like/love Disney to themselves. It's simple really.
Prepare for a huge amount of comments that lack self awareness. This place is crawling with Disney adults who will make excuses.
Wow, what a judgemental comment. You sound quite full of yourself saying that.
