Photographer Takes Portraits Of Dogs That Are Perfectly Imperfect
Meet Bali Pip, the playful pup rescued from the streets of Bali suffering from mange; blind but loyal Shazza; Raul, who takes his partial paralysis in his stride; and many more cute dogs in a new book by award-winning animal photographer Alex Cearns. Based on an original photo series launched on Bored Panda, these beautiful photos of perfectly imperfect dogs will uplift and inspire, finding a special place in your heart with their ability to overcome physical adversity. Cearns artfully captures their intrinsic beauty and spirit in his pet portraits; their sweetness, resilience, and strength.
"One of my most passionate aims as an animal photographer is to capture the adorable subtleties that make all creatures precious and unique. I love every adorable animal I have the privilege of photographing, but those perceived as different hold a special place in my heart. These are the adorable dogs who have lost a leg, been born without eyes, or are still showing the scars of former abuse," says Cearns. "Most animals with ‘afflictions’ don’t dwell on them. They adapt to their bodies without complaint and they survive with determination. They push on, always, wanting to be included and involved in everything as much as they can, and as much as an able-bodied pet does."
"The tenacity of animals to overcome adversity never ceases to amaze me. They make the most out of life and from them I have learned so much about always seeing the positive in every situation and never giving up.”
'Perfect Imperfection - Dog portraits of Resilience' and love are available from 19th March 2018 and is a dog photography book for everyone who loves them; fans of the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi, or of seeing the beauty in imperfection; and anyone who needs a hit of inspiration. Part of the proceeds from every sale will be donated to the Australian Animal Cancer Foundation to help them work towards finding a cure for canine cancer.

Aryah Who Was Crushed In The Womb As A Puppy
Looks like the dog is permanently winking. Lovely! I also love that right ear.
Mya Who Is Blind
Bali Pip Who Was Suffering From Mange
He's so adorable!! His little face!!! I want to snuggle him!! Ok. I'm done now.
Was gonna write a sassy witty comment about how cute it is, but I can´t, I´m just stunned by this adorable pup <3
Dot Who Lost Her Eye
Dot, looks like the little RCA Dog in Christmas ads!! She is just freaking adorable, and so cute! Double whammy! <3
Jessie Who Loves Her Wheels
how adorable. i am happy that she is living normally, even with out working legs.
Jessie, has a get out of my way face!! She gonna smoke those wheels, big time!!
Vegemite Who Lost An Eye
i think vegemite might be my fave - the name, the high-five, the indomitable spirit that makes her look like she's giving a cheeky wink at the universe instead of coping with a disability
Bandit Who Was The Victim Of An Acid Attack
I would like to throw acid at whoever did this to the doggo. There is a special kind of hell for people who hurt animals.
Who tf attacks a puppy with acid? That person is a psychopath who should be put down.
Load More Replies...Cruelty, is the worst offense, because there is really no reason at all, except an evil soul, to be cruel, abuse, and torture animals.
I love how the dark portion of his face makes his eyes so incredibly striking!
Puppy Jakk Who Was Born With Malformed Front Legs
not a long time, but a good time, and with a start like that, i guess that was a lot :'( <3
Hum, love him, he just makes me think of chocolate, and I love chocolate!
Just because his legs are deformed, it makes you love him even more!! Those eyes just suck you right in! You are one beautiful dog, Jakk my boy!! I could just love him to bits! He would be by my side, with a little Sarape slung around his little body!! Oh man I'm hooked! <3
He’s still young, and something might still be done! There are all kinds of things they can do!
Reuben And Keisha In Their Wheelchairs
We shouldn't See them as Badly hurt dogs, they just have sick wheelies.
Fantastic photo! Adapt, that is what animals do, to survive, no questions asked they carry on forward!
Penny's Puppies Who Had Mange
They’re fully furred and all adopted now ❤️❤️❤️
Load More Replies...Mange looks horrible, but with medication they will come around, what a pair!
Lady Bug Who Is Blind
but she sees something secret, with an inspired knowing ... or does she just smell treats ;-)
there is nothing imperfect about these dogs. Different maybe, but not imperfect
Have some fun: take a picture of a one-eyed dog, flip it and match the two seeing sides on the computer. I did it and just sat there transfixed by the new girl in front of me.
Load More Replies...Their senses become so acute when blind they don’t miss a thing. My Russell was amazing. I had a bell ball for her catch was great fun for her she never ever missed it 💖💖
Raul And His Wheels
They all look like nice dogs and I sincerely hope they all have good loving homes. Too bad there are no cat pictures. Oskar the Blind Cat was quite well known for helping to cheer up blind children. Sadly, he passed away a couple months ago.
Wait--Oskar passed away? I loved him! He was so awesome!
Load More Replies...When one of my cats went blind due to a tumor it was an amazing thing to watch, it didn't even take her three days to start moving around the apartment exactly as she used to before. One of my cats now had a brain injury as a kitten which resulted in muscle tremors and very little coordination, no one wanted her because it's not curable. She doesn't even need treatment, so it wasn't about the money. Most people just don't want "imperfect" things around them. But it's their loss. Watching my cats handle their disabilities and find ways to achieve things they set their mind on is so amazing and inspiring. I will always adopt a pet with special needs, if possible. They are as perfect as the others and deserve a chance in life!
my cat doesn't have one eye, he was sick when he was small and they had to remove it. no one wanted him, he spent 2 years in a foster home until me and my family adopted him along with one more cat from that shelter. I stil don't get why people refuse to adopt animals just because they are not perfect. this photoshoot is perfect (:
Absolutely beautiful! Wish I could post a picture of my Bug here. Teacup Aussie born without a left eye. Sweetest fur-ball in the world!
They're all so cute and if I could, I'd take every single one of them home with me. Special needs just means they're extra special pets. 😃
