A mother's love. Poor kitty, I hope she recovered and lived a long happy life.
I remember reading a book about this in like 6th grade, I belive the mother cat's name was Scarlett
Yeah, her name was Scarlett. She was a hero kitty.
Load More Replies...A mother's love is like no other. I would have done the same thing over and over again without any hesitation hand down, for my kids!
Too bad I didn't have a mom like you. My "mother" was a neglectful, abusive bit(h😪
Load More Replies...That's such a lovely way to put it - I heartedly agree!!
Load More Replies...Scarlet did fully recover and was well loved and cared for until she passed away in 2008. Unfortunately, one of the kittens, a little white one, died a month after the incident from a virus. However, after 3 months of recovery, the remaining four kittens were adopted out in pairs and Scarlet herself received a loving home.
Load More Replies...It was only after he was gone that I realised in every picture, even when he was smiling, his eyes were so sad. :(
Yes i realise the same! It is so obvious after you know.... don't know how i didn't see it before
Load More Replies...I lived in san francisco for many years so did robin it was common to see him out jogging by the golden gate bridge. once downtown i was going down on the elevator, i think it was the 101 california building, and who should get in but robin williams, i was amazed. it was just him and me on the elevator and i thought he would make some lighthearted joke or comment about being on the elevator together, you know owning the moment as only he could, but he was completely shut down and didn't say a word. i've heard this same story about him from several places, when he didn't have an audience he was very quiet and reserved but have three people staring at him and suddenly he came to life.
For me his passing was a “where were you when you heard” moments. I feel horrible he did so much for me but I couldn’t do anything for him.
For me it's a more selfish reason. I don't want their sadness to depress me further so I do my best to comfort everyone or just brighten their day. The more happy people there are around me, the happier I am myself.
Even love is totally selfish thing. We work around our egos. It's nice to at least being conscious about it
Load More Replies...At first, you might not know what to do with this information. But I have two words for you: trivia night. As Jaya Saxena wrote in GQ, no one can claim to have invented "knowing random stuff for fun," but the trend gained a lot of traction in the 1970s. While the original Jeopardy! daytime game show premiered back in 1964, the nighttime syndicated version started airing a decade later, around the time when pub trivia began to take off.
Of course, pub quiz nights have evolved and a lot of that change has been organic, the first formalized version came about in 1976, when Sharon Burns and Tom Porter peddled quizzes to pubs in southern England.
At first, the idea was to give bars a way to get people inside on slow nights, but the concept of pub quiz turned into a cultural phenomenon. In the U.S., groups like Pub Trivia USA and America's Pub Quiz organize city- and state-wide competitions, often with serious cash prizes.
Nothing is more valuable than the love a parent has for their children
Especially to those of us who didn't have it from ours.
Load More Replies...Can.... can she adopt me? My mom steals my money, got me hooked on opiates at 15 and then ruined my dads life, divorced him, took everything he had and then tried to take all of his things when he died despite being divorced from him for 16 years.... then tried to get me back on opiates when he passed after I was clean for 8 years all because she thought I needed to "let loose and forget about him" and she was "just being a mother".... yeah yeah yeah I should save this for my therapist but it's Saturday so you people will have to do and yes she has been permanently cut out of my life since. So I am looking for a new mom. Lol.
There's actually a book about him and his journey for anyone who's interested. Title is "The Amazing Story of the Man Who Cycled from India to Europe for Love" by Per J. Andersson
He still looks just as happy and proud as he did on his wedding day. So sweet.
Wow, he was fast. 4 months doesn't seem like such a long time, considering the distance and the chosen way of transportation. Take in account that you need physical force, good stamina, proper weather conditions, and you need to sleep, eat, poop etc.
Once you get over the Himalayas, its all downhill to Sweden.
Load More Replies...Yep, different species, same story. No wonder humans and cats get along very well.
Load More Replies...Omg over 90% burns? This would be fatal for sure a few years before!! Even today the survival rates are not very good for so excessive damage! It was a good thing that she was young and probably healthy otherwise she wouldn't survive
That's what i thought... The doctors must have really done a good job on her!! I can just imagine the possible complications
Load More Replies...What would be the other option, saving yourself and watching you kids burn? Parental instinct is strong!
The other option is having an instinct for self-preservation that is so strong it overrules parental instincts. Both are valid options and there's not much you can do to change them. I hate posts like this. Well done on the mom, but it's not unethical or wrong or being a bad person if you just manage to save yourself.
Load More Replies...Burns to 90% of her body? That's amazing she survived, she had an amazing healthcare team.
"We don't want people to walk into a bar and feel like they can't contribute for a round," Cullen Shaw, co-founder of the NYC Trivia League, said. "If there's a really difficult 17th-century poetry question, maybe there's one person in the bar that knows that, but a sports question comes up after that and they let someone else answer. That's what's fun about team trivia."
But you don't even need a team to participate now. Hundreds of thousands of people log on every night to play HQ, and though the app can be glitchy at times, it hasn't stopped folks from trying to claim hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars in prize money.
I've worked with Denzel and he is such a wonderful person. Gracious. Kind. Stand up guy.
I'm so glad. He always seemed like it, but to hear that from someone who has worked with him is just heart warming.
Load More Replies...A year later, Chadwick having achieved his dreams, died from cancer. He was a brilliant actor taken too soon.
He should have gotten a percentage of that show's success because he made all of us fall in love with the whole thing!
Load More Replies...It irritates me that they don't official consider it a perfect game. Yeah, he "used a lifeline".... But he really didn't. He never actually asked his dad for help. He literally just told his dad something and then answered the question.
Holy s**t I watched it on YouTube! That guy made made who wants to be a millionaire his bitch! Regis is so pissed and trying to cover its freaking hilarious and everyone should go watch it!
"Which of these U.S. Presidents appeared on the television series 'Laugh-In'?", with the choices being A) Lyndon Johnson, B) Richard Nixon, C) Jimmy Carter, and D) Gerald Ford.
Load More Replies...And the the government came to collect his taxes ;) Hope he knew how to manage that money and is a true multi millionaire now :)
I know this is in the US, but in the UK game show winnings are tax-free. I know Oprah's car giveaway left lots of people with a hefty tax bill though. Taxes in the US seem needlessly complicated.
Load More Replies...As shown by how the dogs of homeless people are some of the most well-mannered and socialized animals that you can ever meet🐶🐕
Load More Replies...I cant stop saying wow, such amazing stories. Where is Hollywood to make movies
Not always. Also, it's best to do things for the sake of good things, not because of the potential that you will be rewarded for your good behavior.
Load More Replies...If only more people with money took chances like this. Just imagine the lives saved.
Unless you are like me, then it's... No Good Deed Goes Unpunished 😿 (But I don't let that stop me.)
Load More Replies...But learning obscure facts isn't just fun. It's also good for our mental health. For example, experts say that playing trivia games can provide a dopamine rush much like gambling, but without the negative effects.
"You get a rush or a neuroreward signal or a dopamine burst from winning,” John Kounios, Ph.D., professor of psychology and director of the doctoral program in applied cognitive and brain sciences at Drexel University in Pennsylvania, told Healthline. “I think whenever you’re challenged with a trivia question and you happen to know it, you get a rush. It’s sort of like gambling.”
Dolly is so amazing. My grandsons get a book each month from her literacy program.
It's actually sad that such a a relatively small financial reward is more incentive than realising that your education is important. But whatever works, I guess.
She is an absolute angel and I love everything about Dolly, that being said it’s unfortunate someone has to bribe students to graduate.
Not into her music, but have read amazing things about her. The one that cracks me up is the time she got 2nd place in a Dolly Parton lookalike contest.
She is hilarious. She said "no one would believe how much it costs to look this cheap"
Load More Replies...She wrote "I will always love you" as a tribute to Porter Waggoner. And she said that Whitney Houston sang it incredibly.
And he sued her for leaving his show, and when he had cancer, she paid all of his medical bills. She is amazing, and amazingly intelligent. Colonel Tom tried to bully her into giving "I will always love you" to Elvis Presley, and she did not give in!
Load More Replies...Especially the "cherry bomb"mufflers that roar when they race the engine. I can almost hear Shrek saying "think he's compensating for something?"
Load More Replies...Then the male researchers turned and looked at one another with some kind of suspicion and embarassement. "Still want to yell at us all day long, Bob ?"
Hey, I don't yell at nobody. And I drive a mini.
Load More Replies...I dream of a world where little kids would have their health restored for free, instead of begging for money from a man that chases a ball on a field, but may be this is as good as it gets
Cristiano Ronaldo gets more stick than he deserves, he gives so much to charity and does so much for people, the guy is a great pro and is great person.
He also donates blood every month. That's why he has no tattoos
Load More Replies...He always rubbed me the wrong way (for no reason really) ...then there's this story and the one where he berated reporters for laughing at a little boy for asking a question in Portuguese and ever since I've held him in a different light.
There are a lot of stories, but he does most of it anonymously, he helps because he can and he wants to, it's not a publicity stunt. He's usually kind and patient to children, sweet really.
Load More Replies...This is exactly what should happen. I hate all these celebrities "donating items" or "doing fundraisers"... It's like... You're rich, just donate the money yourself. Why do you have to "raise" the money 🙄
He is now paid over £513,000 PER WEEK. £83,00 is nothing to him. But at the same time many footballers earn as that kind of money and do not do any real good with it so good for him.
True, but also he helps more children than most people know, he's just discreet about it.
Load More Replies...And well-deserved too. That man is an absolute legend. And anyone who says they can switch channels when they hear his voice is a liar. There, I said it.
No one else came even come close. There is no second or third place, just Attenborough, then everyone else
Kounios said the benefits can also be similar to those of playing a video game. However, unlike gambling and video games, Kounios said trivia is not a problematic habit.
"I don't think there are any pitfalls," he said. "Like anything else that’s fun, it [just] takes up time."
Also heard it said, "Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it." Referencing self-protection.
i like to say: better have it and don't need it than need it and don't have it.
interesting story-I was in one of these cage trucks when a lioness took against the women standing next to me. Don't know why? Smell? Began roaring at us from 6 inches away and trying to claw her through the cages. Got more and more wild until the driver decided to cancel, as we were driving out the lioness jumped on the roof and pissed all over us. I have genuinely never been so utterly intimidated. It would have killed us all in a heartbeat and my ears were ringing for hours. Plus we totally reeked. Dam those animals have a deep growl
I'm sorry to laugh, but I can just imagine you being peed on by a giant cat. :) That's the ultimate revenge - cat piss smells like the devil's butt hole!
Load More Replies...Uh-oh, battery is flat. Attention everyone in the back. You will all have to get out and give me a push start.
Better, uneducated, entitled tourists CANNOT get out of their cars and APPROACH THE ANIMALS for selfies, and risk causing the poor thing to be PUT-DOWN because of its reaction to the imagined threat.
Load More Replies...Did anyone notice those are white tigers, not lions? White tigers are no actual subspecies of tigers, they are just leucistic and (in) bred by humans. They most likely would not survive on their own without getting fed by those caged humans
"Hi! I'd like to order my human cooked medium rare. A small fries and a diet coke, please."
I would love to do this but would need a chair due to disability not comfort it would be an amazing experience
No. Mainly because there are no wild gophers in Scotland.
Load More Replies...That's because his momma taught him right. You don't go to someone's house, drink and eat on them and not help with the dishes!
I agree that it isn't a talent, but he is innovative and he did it first. So, even though most people can do the things he does, he's the one who thought of the idea in the first place. Gotta give it to him for that ig.
Load More Replies...He is one of the best video makers ever. They are so funny!
That is so beautiful. Do you think our grandchildren would see it from those hills?
Mars is no place to raise a kid. It's cold, no breathable air, frequent dust storms, and almost no water period (let alone useable water). That said, it would make for an interesting visit. Just pack for a year-and-a-half journey plus ISRU supplies for the 8-month layaway between launch windows...
Load More Replies...Cause of the atmosphere of Mars is mainly Carbon Dioxide
Load More Replies...In 500 years, the same group of wealthy people will be living on Mars, on all of the water, and talking the little people into fighting their wars of conquest. Unless we change now. Billionaires shouldn't exist.
This is worse than it sounds- he was in the cold and dark in the capsized boat which sunk at a depth of 30 metres. When rescued he had to stay in a decompression chamber for 3 days before he could breathe normally again.
Andrew - he could breathe normally in the chamber. The reason he needed to be in it is because his body absorbed so much nitrogen from being at depth for so long. If he simply tried to be on the surface, he would get 'the bends', a condition that happens to scuba divers when they over-stay their depth limits and then come up or when they come up too fast. It's like a soda in a bottle fizzing out after you shake it... the gases (mostly nitrogen) can 'hit' any part of the body and case death or cause disability. So they regulate the pressure in the chamber and 'bring him up' slowly, as if he were doing the required decompression stops on a long dive. Many divers who work salvage and such routinely spend time in a chamber so they can lessen their underwater time to decompress.
Load More Replies...How did he do it? I mean what did he hope for? How didn't he get mad during this time?
I believe that in these situations your body and mind goes into survival mode! Like this you can handle a lot more than you would think! But honestly cannot imagine the trauma afterwards!!!
Load More Replies...Not to mention sharks entered the boat and were swimming around him in the dark
He could hear fish eating the remains of his friends. Spooky
Load More Replies...There's a video on yourube that the diver took when he found Harrison Okene.
Not at all trying to diminish Harrison okene's experience, but those divers must have had a bit of a fright when they saw there was someone alive down there. A good fright, but hopefully you get what I mean.
Load More Replies...Further proof that it wasn't his time to go. I hope he's enjoying his life after such a terrifying experience.
I went to school with a boy whose Granny served with her. She came in to the classroom one day during the schools Open History day and told us all about it.She said the Queen just sat and talked to everybody like they were her equals at meal times and was always happy in her work and never complained. She was just "Happy to do her bit". She get's her attitude from her mother, who said "I am sort of glad that Buckingham Palace got bombed as now we can look the East end in the eye". The east end of London was heavily bombed during the Blitz.
what , she didnt use her power and money to dodge the draft 5 times , ( looking at you Trump )
Princess Anne has an official military rank and uniform though? Queen Elizabeth is the only woman in the Royal Family to have served full time in the military, there have been others who served in the Reserves and hold Reserve Ranks like Princess Anne
She hasn't served in the military. It is an honorary rank, one of many that gets given to them, and means absolutely nothing. Kudos to the Queen and all and I have nothing against Princess Anne, but it is meaningless.
Load More Replies...Whilst we're on fun facts, she is the only person in the UK who isn't required to have a driving licence in order to drive a vehicle on a public road.
Wasn’t her son a pilot in the Falklands war? Weren’t her grandsons William and Harry both in the military?
Not trying to be a conspiracy theorist, but have you noticed how Dave Grohl and Nirvana's drummer look like identical twins?
Hmmmm... and they're never at the same place at the same time... very odd
Load More Replies...I have a massive crush on Dave Grohl. He's not necessarily my type, but there's just something about him.
he just seems like such a decent guy and awesome dad. I remember when Nirvana was first doing well and someone asked him what the 1st thing he'd buy with his newfound riches and he said a nice BBQ grill. He wanted such a normal thing, a thing you enjoy with your family and friends while you feed them.
Trent Reznor of NIN does this - his band is just the musicians he hires when he has to tour and can't do that. On another note, I've met Dave Grohl and he is the nicest guy, has a contagious energy and is very funny!
Yes! How I miss that man. Did you see him, or the video, play guitar with Tom Petty, Steve Winwood, Jeff Lynne, Dhani Harrison at the 2004 Hall of Fame Inductions? They played "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". I loved the story I heard about his performance - no one could get a hold of him, he never came to practice, they didn't even know if he was showing up. He just showed up, blew the sky open with his playing and went home. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SFNW5F8K9Y If he never had done a thing other than play guitar, he would still be a legend.
Load More Replies...Although not released under a pseudonym, Lenny Kravitz did the same.

Load More Replies...Do prisoners receive free health care in the US? If so, I can see why someone would go to these measures. I've seen how much hospital bills can be, that must push many US citizens into bankruptcy. E.g., What's an elderly man with cancer going to lose by doing this?
Yep. You get people commit crimes in the UK for a bed for the winter rather than endure homelessness in the freezing weather. Probably happens in lot of countries.
Load More Replies...It's a national embarrassment someone felt they had to do this just to see a doctor.
In the UK it's common for homeless people to commit petty crimes towards winter so they don't have to spend the winter months on the streets.
Oh, just said the same thing then read your comment!!
Load More Replies..."what are you in for" "life" "dang you kill someone?" "no I robbed a bank for $1" "and they gave you a life sentence?" "no it's the only place I can get the health care to save my life"
This is so sad. Americans dont take care of their citizens but tax the hell out of them. 🤬
It's crazy to me that "we" spend soooo many tax dollars on the military but veterans can't get proper health care when they get back. It's so wrong.
Load More Replies...I would personally like to thank all of the politicians, other government employees, pharmaceutical companies, and insurance agencies for making it this convenient to obtain health care. It's great knowing the patient's wellbeing is the primary concern as opposed to the millions or even billions of dollars there are to be made.
Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident. Perhaps if the US had medical coverage, they wouldn't be #1 in incarcerations.
This can also happen with people you really like. My partner's chewing can drive me nuts.
How many pandas here realised during the lockdown that your partner's breathing is very very very annoying?
Load More Replies...That explains why my kids have started to complain about how each other breathe or swallow.
I don’t agree with this. The dipshit I can’t stand just walks like an asshole
Does this also work in the opposite direction? As in, when you like a certain person, everything they do is simply endearing to you?
I think it can work in reverse also. I met a guy who came across as a jerk when I first met him. Had to work with him and it was a drag. After a couple months, I understood more and began to like him. We dated a while til he had to leave the country for a new duty station.
Load More Replies...Makes sense, since we also choose our actions, whether we’re conscious of it or not. That’s the reason why it’s a good idea to take a moment to let your better sense catch up with your knee-jerk emotions before acting on them. Takes a little effort—-or CBT—-to retrain yourself to do that, but it’s worth it.
Why even give that person head space. You're only annoying yourself ???
I wish that this sentiment was more widely aired. People should worry about their own stuff and learn to put minor annoyances aside rather than dwelling on them. I'm sure their own habits are just as annoying.
Load More Replies...Because of how they walk and breathe, obviously. D'uh. (/s, just to be sure)
Load More Replies...This rocked me. I used to say this all the time--as a joke, but man, it is true.
I once fell off a bike backwards after hitting an unseen obstacle (low branch, it was pitch dark). Back of my head hit the pavement but I was saved by my dreadlocks which I had in a tam. It was like wearing a cushioned helmet. Only damage done was my clothes were all muddy and I scraped a knee or something.
That's fantastic! I would have never imagined that they'd have such an impact but glad they did.
Load More Replies...Who the hell would want to assassinate Bob Marley? People are weird sometimes. Ok a lot of times.
Another woman in the UK survived a machete or axe attack to the head because of her dreadlocks too. I also got into a car accident when I was in high school and I have dreadlocks and my head went through the passenger side window and I survived. My face was hella f****d up but my head was fine and no concussion!
I saw a surveillance footage of a woman being hit in the head with a brandnew axe. Dreadlocks saved her life
That's awesome. And I thought I was doing well learning to tie a tie on YouTube

Of course if you work for Google, you'll see your spouse and kids maybe 2-3 times a year...
Unlike Amazon, where the average worker makes it 10 months.. when they die on the job, they just box them and ship them home.

The partner pension bit is standard for just about every (mandatory) pensionplan in the Netherlands, and not for 10 years but 'till *death* or living with a new partner. Not impressed.
Well, he just would go down and up again, and cash an additionnal 20k since he's paid per climb :-)
Load More Replies...He does not get paid $20,000 per climb. He's an employee and climbs as many as 8 towers a day to perform maintenance. This climb went viral because it was captured by a drone.
About 50 years ago one of my friends got a job with a crew that painted these towers. Two hours into his first day there was an accident where a guy fell about 100 feet & was killed. My friend quit on the spot.

Load More Replies...I seriously doubt carbon levels from human activity were of any significance in regards to global climate in the early 13th century. And for the most part, the vast areas Mongol conquests wiped people off from were not farmland but grassland - rather empty spaces from the start, then. Basically the Mongols were looking for more and more pasture for their sheep herds, enhancing their nomadic way of life all around, while fighting anyone who could threaten it.They killed so many people because they sacked and destroyed the big cities of the mighty Asian empires they had as their neighbours, but I think it wasn't very long until the populations from these regions came back to normal under their rule afterwards.
Right. Like, what environmental scientists were evaluating and documenting the Earth’s carbon levels in the 13th century?
Load More Replies...I think this would be hard to pinpoint, as the Black Death hit around 1300, almost 100 years after his death.

I would think going from Magadan to Cape Town would be quicker than going from Cape Town to Magadan since it's all down hill.
Kinda wanna do this, were it not for the fact that this road leads through some of the least safe areas there are.
I don't get these because obviously it's not one road and you could make a far longer route by circling around the continents, e.g from Cape town to Cape Town via Shanghai, Magadan and Lisbon.
From an interview with Stallone, quote: So I said to Dolph, “We practiced one thing, [but] let’s just go at it for the first 15 seconds. I want you to try to knock me out. Just bomb away.” Well, he did. And he gets me in the corner, and he’s bombing away, and I’m tryin’ to slip the punches and then he comes with this uppercut in my chest, and I went: That hurt. Okay. Cut. Let’s finish the rest of the day. That night, I felt this thumping. It was hard to breathe. I went to the emergency room. My blood pressure was like 290, and they put me on a low-level flight to St. John’s Hospital where I was put into intensive care because the pericardial sac around my heart was swelling and impeding the beating of my heart. I was there, like I said, for nine days surrounded by nuns. Source: https://ew.com/article/2006/12/22/why_rocky_iv_is/
I don't think he's an ass, he's just receiving orders from the star and script writer, everyone knows most stars have more power than even the director. Lundgren was interviewed not long ago in spanish tv, he started crying remembering how he was badly beaten by his dad growing up...such a shame.
I met him when he 1st came to the US and was bouncing for a club. I was friendly with the other bouncer(b/c he gave me and my friends free drink tickets all the time) and he was this big bouncer dude. As I was walking up the club, I see my friend and think wtf is that thing next to him?!? Dolph dwarfed my friend. He looked like a damn larger than life statue! Super hot but his english was terrible so we barely spoke.
The difference between an actor and a ..err.. a chemical engineer with black belt.
After 3 movies Stallone was thinking that he actually was Rocky. Pretty arrogant to tell a guy who is 7" taller and much heavier to wail on you for real as if you were actual boxers.
I'm having a hard time believing the last part. Dolph Lundgren is a very nice and kind man.
If he's South Africa's most infamous robber, why does the police board say ""Fort Lauderdale"?
He was arrested in Fort Lauderdale for driving an unregistered vehicle. Then they released him. He was there trying to sell a yacht his gang recently purchased.
Load More Replies...How did he get caught? Did he mix up the order and first he went to investigate and returned later to rob?
He had to lay low for a while, posing as a bartender in Boston.
Load More Replies...Him: "Did you get a good look at the robber?". Cashier: "Funny you should say that...". Him: "I'm sorry, but you gonna have to accompany me to the * cough * 'Police Station'.
They did a movie about him in 2003 named, "Stander." Starring Thomas Jane as Andre Stander.
I am always looking for a good movie to watch. Thanks for the tip!
Load More Replies...He was caught in Fort Lauderdale, but he was South African. Born and raised in the Transvaal which in the modern day is Gauteng. He went to Fort Lauderdale to sell a yacht and got caught.
Load More Replies...Stander had been in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, trying to arrange for the sale of the gang's recently purchased sailing yacht—the Lilly Rose—that they planned to use for their final getaway once they had acquired enough money. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andr%C3%A9_Stander
Reminds me of the true story of the fireman who was an arsonist and returned to fight the fire
Not only was AK-47 sold abroad (in huge amounts), but several other communist countries started producing their own versions of the gun (which were also exported). That's how.
Hate to break the news but the biggest arms dealers were and still are The United States, Russia, France, Germany, and China. But you've got to bash communist countries, so that's good.
Load More Replies...AK assault rifles killed several millions(!) of people since invented. "I am become death, the destroyer of worlds."- J. Robert Oppenheimer after the first successful nuclear explosion.
The quote is actually from the Hindu scriptures when Lord Vishnu takes on his multi armed form and tells the prince Arjuna "I am become death, the destroyer of words" Oppenheimer used the quote, but it is not his.
Load More Replies...Automatic Kalashnikov model 47. Designed so that if Russia were ever invaded again-the people would have something decent to fight with. Cheap to build, incredibly reliable, and beloved of dictators globally
His guilt-ridden question to himself should be, "Why did I invent the AK-47?"
And his answer would be 'because my country had just lost TWENTY SEVEN MILLION people in a war and I was hoping to stop that happening ever again'.
Load More Replies...The M16 is a subpar weapon the Kalashnikov, but hating Communism is so ingrained in the US, we aren't allowed to have them in the US Military. Instead we have black ink Bic pens as a part of the uniform (will get in trouble if you don't) to push firing pin back when it jams. It jams all the time. They'd rather have troops in combat die from jammed weapons than buy a Communist (superior) weapon that our enemies have.
Pro tip - if you don't want something you invented to be used to kill millions of people, maybe DON'T INVENT SOMETHING THAT CAN KILL MILLIONS OF PEOPLE. Jeez Mik.
Seriously? You never once suspected Russian guns would somehow make it out of Russia?
It's both. The two are not mutually exclusive. The minnows can still beat the giants and that's what we love about it. You will seldom find that in business where the big fish usually wins.

Death or injury by chimp are among the most horrific things known to man.
A male chimp is 3 times stronger than a man physically. IIRC, 75 % of proteins they eat go to their body muscles, while it is less than 30% in the human body, the rest going to our big, enlarged, demanding and rather psychotic brain. That's also why chimps and humans look so different, in spite of being genetically so close : our metabolisms are not the same at all.
All it takes is lots of exercise outside, fresh food and a supporting community. Well, back to the nature.
At the time, Mandela was advocating violence to fight apartheid. https://www.npr.org/2016/05/16/478272695/retired-cia-agent-confirms-u-s-role-in-nelson-mandelas-1962-arrest
Somebody somewhere probably got rich because of it. That's how the US works.
Load More Replies...Would you really want the responsibility of having 14 friends?
Load More Replies...Not "randomly" at all. Per article: "I've slept on their couches when I was broke. They loaned me money when I was broke. They helped me when I needed help over the years. And I've helped them over the years. We're all good friends." https://www.the-sun.com/entertainment/1817895/george-clooney-friends-1m-cash/
Not necessarily. A lot of stars still have friends from school and some even from childhood.
Load More Replies...It's not necessarily a bad thing either. It's awful if you feel pressured into plastic surgery to match some kind of beauty standard, but it's perfectly fine if you just want to change your face because you like it better this way. Body autonomy and all that you know?
Load More Replies...Several years ago, a man in China sued his wife for fraud. Their child looked like neither of them, and he accused the child of being very ugly. The wife finally admitted to having had extreme plastic surgery, such that the child did look like her original self. I have no idea what was the outcome of the case though.
That was fake. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/man-sues-wife-ugly-children/

This seems a bit unlikely, it takes weeks for the swelling to go down from facial plastic surgery and if they have rhinoplasty with lateral osteotomies they would need to wear either a Plaster of Paris or a thermoplastic splint to keep the bones in place while they heal, it would be more believable if they had trouble getting through customs because their faces were bruised and swollen and they had casts on their noses. I appreciate new techniques such as Piezosurgery reduces the soft tissue damage compared with traditional 'cold steel' but there is still some swelling. I am an operating room nurse for facial plastics and ENT surgery. You don't wake up from surgery fully healed, and an extended stay in another country would be very expensive.
This looks like super dramatic change until you realize she seems to only have had work done of her eyelids if you look closely.
Face shape too, her face is more oval now, which matches the beauty standard in China. Not that it really matters though, as long as she's happy.
