30 Comics That Show Just How Funny The Most Ordinary Parts Of Life Can Be
Interview With ArtistEveryday life doesn’t always need a dramatic plot twist to be worth turning into a story. Sometimes, a forgotten grocery run, an unfortunate sunburn, a strange family moment, or a dog doing something mildly disastrous is more than enough. Alyssa Hirose, the artist behind hialyssacomics, has spent years capturing exactly those kinds of moments through her charming diary comics.
Drawing from her own experiences, Alyssa turns relationships, family life, everyday mishaps, and passing thoughts into illustrated stories that are both personal and surprisingly universal. Some comics capture a joke in a single image, while others unfold across several panels or even multiple days, but they all share the same ability to find humor and meaning in seemingly ordinary experiences. In fact, Alyssa has been keeping a daily comic diary for eight years, documenting everything from major life changes to the tiny incidents that might otherwise be forgotten. Bored Panda reached out to the artist to learn more about how this long-running habit has shaped the way she sees everyday life, what it’s like to turn loved ones into recurring comic characters, and why the smallest moments often become her favorite stories.
Scroll down to check out some of Alyssa’s comics, and keep reading for our conversation with the artist about the stories behind them.
