Some folks like to strut around their authority and rules in such a way that it almost feels like they are asking for someone to exploit a loophole. What we’re talking about here is of course so called “malicious compliance” when someone simply does exactly what they are told, knowing the outcome will work out in their favor.

A netizen shared their bit of malicious compliance when they were being kicked out of their father’s home. He demanded that they move everything by a specific deadline and even took apart the furniture. The netizen offered to pack, but he was insistent on it being “his house, his rules.”

Which is why one netizen decided to not mention they won’t be taking the furniture

I moved back home two years ago (next door to my childhood home, my mother owns both properties.) I'm currently going through a version of this - I'm 44 and my sister (50) and mother (82) want me to live my life entirely by their rules, which are structured to treat me like I'm still 14. Just today my sister screamed at me that I "have" to leave my door unlocked so they can come inside whenever they want to. I said no. She said she would "remove the doorknób". I said I'd get a new one. I pointed out there is a hidden key to the door a foot away from said door. She screamed it's "too much work" to get the key and unlock the door. I told her too bad, I was not leaving it unlocked all the time, because I feared break-ins. She screamed that I'm not "allowed" to be afraid of someone breaking in, because I've never gotten broken into before. I said, "So I'm not allowed to be afraid of being múrdered, simply because I've never been múrdered before?" She changed the subject XD
