I think that the entire intro is just tongue-in-cheek. "Snakes and hats go together like baked-beans and grapes: it's rare to find one without the other." - that doesn't make any sense, either. Whoever wrote it either has a dead-pan sense of humor, or was drunk.

I hope not! My best guess is that they took a small portion of tape and taped it on, even though that's still not the best solution.
