The dog is probably thinking "I was looking for a new owner. The old ones seemed too angry all the time for me to make them happy. Then I saw this guy strolling through the facility. He looked sad and anxious so I thought 'I better adopt him so he won't be sad or anxious anymore.' This is a picture of me and him after I convinced him to take me home. See how happy he is!""

An apple tree would work. My family has blueberry bushes from which we try to pick the blueberries weekly at least. I also have blackberries, grapes (which never grow), peach trees (which the bugs get to before we do). So I'd probably suggest apple trees or blueberry bushes, or maybe strawberries. Just a tip though, for blueberries and strawberries or any berries, cover them with some sort of netting. We have a cage-like structure built for our blueberry bushes.

The news reported that the baby, one of several siblings, were brought into the hospital and had been separated from parents because they were in poor health. Being an infant of 6 months it came in crying also malnourished and the lady here instinctively reacted and asked if she could feed the baby having herself a 16 month old and clearly still breastfeeding. At no point was this baby not being fed by hospital due to being smelly or dirty. Apparently the baby was dirty but it wasn't being denied anything. The lady here simply reacted the moment the baby was brought in and staff gave her permission to breastfeed the stranger. So not sure the hospital even had a chance to feed the baby.

There are breast milk banks in Australia, probably other places too. Nursing mothers volunteer to give milk for people that need it, and for some reason cannot. For example premi baby, the mum's milk might not come in. It seems natural for mums to share. All women produce different amounts. In the past, when we lived in villages the mums would pass the hungriest babies to the women with the most milk. All natural.

We can try but the problem is that you aren't probably going to be able to pass through the ownership as easily anymore especially since everything is also owned by the country right now.

Often a person who is considered illiterate can read some basic words. In the US, I think the criteria is an adult with less than a third grade reading level. I could be mistaken about this.

When I was a medical interpreter our agency provided therapy to the baby of illiterate parents. When they traveled an hour away to see the specialist, mom would explain all the information and instructions given to them by the MD through an interpreter. She was detailed and never wrong; her memory and intelligence were impressive. I often think of her and hope she and her family and her 20 year old child are doing well. The baby had Down's IIRC.

My husband has problems with making new friends and it's always made me sad since he feels there's something wrong with him where people don't like him. His only friends are ones he met through gaming and they all live far. I went with him last year to spend Christmas with one of them and it was amazing to see how happy and comfortable he felt.

About 8 years ago, we had to put my brother's dog down. He had already been at the vet for a few days, in hope of improvement but the vet told us they could give him a lot of daily meds (or drug him up) which would make him live maybe another year longer but there wasn't anything else they could do. We loved him so much but we couldn't bear the thought of him being in more pain (or being so drugged up) so we let him go. During the week he was at the vet, our other 2 dogs would look up expectantly every day, waiting for their friend to come home. On that last day, when we came home, they looked at us and realized he would never come home. And they just lied down, hugging each other. It was heartbreaking.

that happened with my girl cat Precious. He got very sick very quickly and I raced home (was out of town when I got the call) and I layed on the bed with her and her brother and he gave her licks and cleaned up her face. I put on her Princess shirt and we went to the vet. :(

when we had to put one of our dogs down we had them come to our house to do it. our other dog was locked in the house while we did it in the yard. after he passed the vet said we should let our other dog out so he can have closure. we let him out and he came over to his friend and nudged him with his nose. He knew immediately he was gone. he walked over and grabbed one of his friends favorite toys and left it by him. one of the hardest days of my life having to witness all of this but it was also extremely touching. Our other dog was fairly depressed for a while after this but we have since got him a new little brother and he completely turned around. He is now the older brother teaching his new friend the things his older brother taught him. RIP Bob you were an amazing member of our family

I really hope there's more "acceptance" than awareness soon.. "Autism Awareness" is usually about this organization called Autism Speaks, which is actually a total scam (it actually supports parents who kill/abuse their kids with autism because "they're a burden")

Half of my family is on the Autism Spectrum. My nephew lives with me, and I am his caregiver since I am considered "high functioning". It breaks my heart into pieces to live in a community with very few services for adults with Autism. My nephew desperately wants friends, but he has been hurt so many times in the past that he's afraid. There needs to be more awareness because there's way more of us than people think, and there need to be more services to help us with independent living and social skills. Please fight for these things in your community!!!!!

Good for you. I went through a major depression once and I asked my therapist for advice. He told me to just make my bed. I could get right back into it immediately after, did not have to brush my teeth or wash my face, as long as I made my bed when I wake up in the morning. It saved my life. Once the bed was made, I brushed my teeth, washed my face etc, every day a little something extra. Well done to you!

Me too, pal. Making my bed first thing in the morning is the best habit I have now. Bed made, I get dressed and head for the front door, stopping only long enough to get dressed, take care of bathroom biz, turn on the coffee pot and leash my dog for our half-mile walk.

This is one of the aspects of our nation that makes us greater than any other - we never stopped being great until recently when we became the bully whose government hates (fears) anyone who doesn't fit its very narrow definition of a citizen of the USA - it's very sad and don't start bitching - I am not a liberal or a conservative. I believe with all that I am that things work much better when we find a place in the middle where nobody feels f'd. Governing is about compromise and working together yet both sides are turning to more extreme ways. Citizens openly hate each other because of political differences - this a very dangerous mountain that we are tumbling down with no end in sight. When a society is too conservative it atrophies whereas when a society is too liberal it burns itself out we need to get back to the middle.

We did this with cucumbers one summer (just a crazy productive crop). Bag by bag, those cukes would find a home. Then later that year, at Christmas time, we had strung lights on that same fence, but didn't quite have enough lights to cover the whole fence. One night we came home from work to find two extra strings of lights had been added to ours. :)

I have a green chair in my driveway and every time I have too many beans, tomatoes, squash or raspberries I put it on the chair so people can take it. It is spreading. 2 other neighbours did it with apples and cherries.

I garden, and typically have far more squash and peas than I can use. Unfortunately, hanging them on my fence likely wouldn't help as my nearest neighbour is far enough away that I can't even see her house.

I can still remember the little bags we would put up in grade school. I had a teacher one year, who I saw putting a valentine in my bag. I was new at the school, and didn't know anyone yet, so I had no cards in my bag, and was upset about it. That was a kind act, and I never forgot it. ❤

This is heartwarming, but also gutwrenching because this tragedy could largely have been prevented. Fire alarm didn't work at the time of the fire and emergency exits were locked, resulting in so many unnecessary deaths.

Back in the day before pit bulls got a bad rap, they were considered so wonderful and patient with children that they were called "nanny dogs". Even Petey from the original black and white Little Rascals show was a big ol' pitty!!

I recently chatted with a man who used to rehabilitate pit bulls for our local shelter. He said out of the many, many dogs he was able to help to adoptable friendliness, there was only one single dog who simply was beyond help, he'd been so badly abused. Most pit bulls are saveable, if we put a little time into working with them.

My sister's German Shepherd was a year old when my son was born. I think she thought my son was her puppy. They played tag together, slept on the floor together. But the moment I knew she thought he was her pup was when my sister had my then 3 year old son sitting on the tailgate of her truck next to her dog. A co-worker came up to her and she introduced him to my son. When he reached out to shake my sons hand, the dog lunged forward, snapping and snarling for him to keep his distance. This dog never did anything like that before. I was scared for the coworker, but relieved to know that anywhere my sister took my son, her dog would be there to protect him.

Police Officer Pulls Over Driver With Broken Brake Lights And Proceeds To Fix Them

Police Officer Pulls Over Driver With Broken Brake Lights And Proceeds To Fix Them

So this happened just now. I'm on my way to go to my interview this morning when I get pulled. Both brake lights decided to go out this time. As he walked to the car and I was pulling out my stuff, he quickly said, "Don't worry about pulling anything out. I just want you to know that your brake lights are out." So I'm immediately upset, because I just got them replaced like last month. So I explained to him how Firestone wants to charge me $600 just to run a test on the wiring of the car. He looked at me like 😨 and told me to pop the trunk. He checked the lights in the trunk and tapped them, but they didn't come on. So he told me to pop the hood to check the relay box then asked me to get out to check the other one. He could've easily given me a ticket, but Officer Jenkins stepped out of officer role and into mechanic role to make sure I was straight.

Good for the officer. Slightly off topic but you should shop around for a different auto repair place because Firestone is ripping you off big time. They may have quoted you that price because they don't want the job.

A cop pulled me over for speeding and the broken taillight ..I told him I had a replacement light in my glove compartment but I was not strong enough to pop off the plastic light cover and replace it myself. He took out a tool kit and did it for me. Let me off with a warning for the speeding too (9 miles over)...I was really poor at the time and that really saved me.

The real story is better, one of the children had been ill and away from class for long time, these were his classmates welcoming him back. Saw it on the news

I remember when in elementary school our lollipop lady (crossing person) retired - me and my friend cried so much. It can be so tough being a kid.

I'm cared for a baby robin, I made it a little home in a bush outside my house. I took care of him until he gained the strength from his wing injury. His name was scooter! <3

i have a similar story. i was in my park near my house and i found a juvenile hummingbird lying in the river. we all thought it was dead until it it started twitching. i immediatly dried it of. 30 minutes later, it was flapping its wings. it sadly passed around 4 hours later, despite me giving it sugar water and a dry habitat.i have moved since then, but i have a grave for her in my old house. her name was rose, RIP Beautiful girl! at least you got another 4 hours to live!

I like to imagine that these two people have never seen each other in real life. and that i am going to use this story every time someone says that online friends are not real friends, because they are real and in some cases better than the friends you see at work or school.

My best friend is an online friend. I live in Denmark, he lives in California. I've been to see him twice. We talk every day.

I love the gaming community. I've made many good friends through our shared love of Forza and CoD. It doesn't matter what colour they are, that maybe we can't all speak the same language, have different childhoods and all be completely different class levels in society, the gaming community always overlooks all of these. I love it with all my heart.

Sometimes it is about the friendship, not that actual game.

I like the idea that sometimes online gaming connects people, where they build not only virtual friendship but real ones.

After #18, six friends who never met in person but they met online because of a game and they met one day, this tells me a friend is a friend no matter if is online or at work.

My parents split when I was a senior in high school. It was rough. A lot of terrible things were said and I tried for a while, but I finally decided to cut my dad out of my life. Three years later, dad showed up in my check out line at Walmart. He had flowers and... I don’t know if he had already paid for it, but I rung him up, he paid, and I collapsed into him. I cried so hard and my coworkers had no idea how to handle it. I hated not loving my dad. I needed him and I still do. He isn’t perfect, but him buying me flowers brought us together again.
