Cross stitch is a form of counted thread embroidery that has been around for ages, and it is widely regarded as one of the easiest forms of hand embroidery, making it an accessible hobby for virtually everyone.

One of the biggest online communities advocating for this craft is the aptly titled subreddit r/CrossStitch. As you may have seen in our earlier article on this place, its 404K members are constantly sharing pictures of their proud works, and they serve as perfect examples of cross-stitching's limitless potential.

However, since the subreddit remains really active, we thought it was about time we made an update on it. Continue scrolling to check out its latest gems.

Soluble canvas! You attach it to the fabric, stitch and then soak in water - it dissolves wirhout a trace - very simple to use but for whole stitches only, no fractionals...

Yes, indeed - to the picture and to my nerves! I hate doing backstitch with a passion, it can be so frustrating - but it IS the magic that turns a somewhat blurry image into a beautiful 'painting'...

Gorgeous! I always do my backstitching as I go. Once I get all the stitches done, that need to be done for the affected area, I do the backstitches. I'm too impatient to save backstitching for the end! I want to see it as I go! Lol

I've drawn grids when I'm getting ready to start on a really large graph. It helps me with stitch counts and placement (deciding where I want to start). Also, for any beginners out there, please, ALWAYS, double check your finished design area and make sure you buy fabric that will give you enough fabric, outside the design dimensions, so you can finish off your project! Have fun!! :)

This project is technically mixed discipline! Homer is normal cross stitch, and the bush is made using the same technique used to make a carpet by hand. Latch-hook, I think it's called.

Start with the larger cloth, like 10 stitches to an inch with fewer colors and minimal shading. Work up as you develop your skill. It won't take as long as you think. Following the pattern is the hardest.

You can do lovely Christmas trees or winter villages if you are still looking for something seasonal - the pattern is stitched unto plastic or sturdy cardboard grid and then sown together along the edges...

This is the 3rd sieve project I've seen here. Is this a common part of projects? Is there a specific reason to use them?

Let's say it is a trend - you can use the holes in the sieve just like you would use the holes in the aida fabrik that makes it possible to transfer the patterns.

Best to take it to a professional dry cleaner. The fabric and the thread may shrink different amounts if you wash it. Beautiful work!

No, no, no, nononono dry cleaning is NOT recommended for cross stitch, as the chemicals used can cause the color to bleed. Best way is to swish it through some cool water with a mild soap (I use shampoo for mine), then rinse it in soap-free water the same way. Do not twist or wring. Roll it up in a clean towel (like a jelly roll) to get the excess water out, then let air-dry flat. If it's wrinkled or creased, place it face-down between two towels to protect the stitching and press gently with a warm iron.

Same as on white aida, you count the squares! It is easier if you at least put a white paper on your lap underneath the black fabrik or even better have a light shine through from below then you see the holes more clearly and don't strain your eyes that much.
